Very interesting approach to Football.

Moglia hasn't just become a top-flight coach; he has done so by using an approach antithetical to modern football convention. Coastal rarely hits, other than during scrimmages or games. Backups get as many reps as starters, and Moglia rarely speaks during practice. He stresses teaching so much that players are given learning tests in order to be taught more effectively. "I'm a better football coach because I was a CEO," Moglia says, "and I was a better CEO because I was a football coach."

Great story. And this from Moglia: "The most dangerous phrase is the English language is, 'We've always done it this way.'" Methinks he might have an issue with Flood's coaching philosophy of as Caliknight put it running your car into a brick wall, backing up and doing it again.

Hating to see the words down trodden programs like Rutgers. You never heard those words when Schiano was here .
Yes you did. Lots and lots of times. Youve just forgotten. The words one hit wonder also came up alot.

As for Moglia - I think we need to set our sights higher than a guy who's past retirement age and who's highest level of experience in FB is the UFL and D1AA.

Alot of BS works very well at lower levels that dont work when the other team has great coaches and more talent like our division does.

Is there any indication as to what Joe Moglia wants for the next 4-5 years of his life? Here's a 66 year old guy who, for all intents and purposes, is living his dream - he has made an incredible fortune - he is set for life - he is coaching football at a D1 school - and winning. He is living a Disney movie (could see Kevin Costner playing him) ... He is a folk hero where he is now.

Has he given any indication that he seriously would want to move to take over a major 'project' ? - one where he would need to work endless 18 hour days - deal with a major order of magnitude larger adversarial academic/administrative bureaucracy, be scrutinized & have his motives questioned continuously by a cynical media ? Does he seriously feel that he still has something to prove?
My feeling is that if everything was exactly the same - but he was 56 - then maybe he would be inclined to say 'OK , now for my crowing achievement' ....

- maybe ... and maybe he is cut from special cloth that will enable him to go full tilt for another 5-6 years .. if so ... and if it were at RU, it has the potential to be very interesting - he might not be RU's 'T Boone Pickens' - but he might be able to draw in enough interested deep pockets football fans with an interest in following a good metro area team - enough that it could make a huge difference.

but I also fear a 'Disney ending' - the big offer on the table ... the soul searching ... and the tearful proclamation that he will stay with the people who love him....
