After the Cherokee closed down at midnight, hit the car and head on out to the Dock and the all -night fun. Always a bunch of drunk babes sitting on the rocks and losing those sweet red girly drinks.

Ride back to S'ville on Sunday was always a *****.

in the 70's....you could legally drink at 18 back then. I started MSU at age 17 and didn't turn 18 until about Thanksgiving of that semester. Never stopped me from going to LenLew's or the Triangle Club. Matter of fact, turned 18 on a stool in front of the nickel moving screen payoff......errrrrr strictly fun and challenging pinball machines. Drinking Buds and eating cheeseburgers and fried pickles ... Wish I could go back there right now.

Jackson was wide open back then. I grew up in Jackson, and you could get ANYTHING you wanted. Matter of fact, there was a cop who provided more than security at the Dock back during the day. $100 a pop.... right there in the mgr's office. TOP quality. (Not much of a distance between the Madison County Air field and the Dock. I flew out of there for quite a long time. You did not want to know what went on there after dark.)

The Club in Columbus-"free beer while the kegs last". Lots of girls from the W.
Tuesdays (IIRC?) in Columbus-would be packed when Eli (the band, not the Manning) played. Saw a knife fight in the mens room once.

2. there would be a fight.
3. Someone would go to jail.

Eli and cookie were the **** back then. I hear he died of Aids.

I wouldn't be shocked, and he was a strange little 17er.

As far as basketball talent was concerned, Hell the twisted little thing once was on Basketball scholarship at Fla State. I heard it from the stage a hundred times, and head ELI guy confirmed it. I even ran into him on another occasion years later.... middle of the day, dead sober, music pitch....and he offhandedly told me that Cookie once had a scholly at FSU and quit. More money and members on the rock and roll tour, huh?

Man, I hadn't thought about Eli or Cookie since the 80s. The Dock, The Club, The Landing, Doug's Place, Bonnie & Clydes, many more I'm forgetting.
