Lived in same apartment complex as he did and talked with him several times. He was always nice to me. CP was a heck of a football player and IMO I'm very glad he is a Husker.

I know every school has its share of criminals and that such activity runs in cycles but I can hardly believe what I'm reading. You guys support a man who sexually violated that many women on your campus, some multiple times? He was arrested how many times? And you guys are proud of him?

There was in fact multiple reports, hence why I don't like him, at all. Lots of stories from people who knew him as well. He may have cleaned his act since, but he was as bad as they came back then.
Tommy will always be my favorite from that team.

It's good to see Peter in Lincoln only because my daughter remained in another city. He's hardly a role model.

@redwine65 this talks about 8 arrests and accusations of sexual abuse from 4 women. What's described in this article is only the tip of the iceberg for CP. I think he would openly tell anybody he was out of control, and felt he was above reproach while on campus.

Met him when I was about 14 years old at Wendy's downtown and he couldn't have been nicer to me.

8 arrests like taking a leak in public?

accusations???

all I heard was redmond, got into a fight in kerney, and took a leak in public..
Im not saying cp was a chior boy. but I do think a person can be changed, and if they are changed (Im a calvinist, lol) they should be forgiven.

if you disagree, throw away your bible cause paul was slaughtering Christians, before the eturnal decree and providence done come down on him like a ton of bricks, on the road to demascus, and squared him right away. to write over half the new testament.

johney rodgers did a armed robbery, pulled a gun on the cable guy, and snorted half of columbia.
yet he don't get racked over the coals systematicly.

(just ranting a tad, excuse me)

No problem. You stated you'd never heard of "multiple reports" regarding your favorite player who got into "some" trouble, so I wanted ensure you were versed on what has been officially reported.

I'm glad he didnt do these things to your daughter; but, I'm sure if it was, you would gladly forgive him.

well, I don't recall cp doing time for acusations.
so what people say, and facts, can be 2 different things.
plus these things are ussually messy like kate sleeping with half the offense,
or a gal meeting mike tyson at 2 am in his hotel room for a "autograph".

so Im going by the joe friday facts on this, and I don't think I ever heard of cp doing time..(convicted) for rape.

I would like to see a acctual police report on what he got convicted for, and not hearsay.
my names friday.

Well, there's one other claim from a different woman that CP held her down and masturbated on her face in front of teammates.

But, she is a dancer, so that one doesn't count.

CP was convicted of grabbing miss Nebraska's crotch. TO suspended him from the Spring game.

ok, them are claims, and Im not defending cp if they are true..wrong is wrong. I would just like to see the facts and not he said she said. and I have no problem with law enforcement for crimes.

but he said she said is not a crime. and if the penalty for the crime is payed. I think the person should be forgivin. cause people can "be" changed.

Redwine, it's ok my man. He's your favorite player, no reason to back away from that now. I just hope your daughters are not subject to the same treatment CP gave those women in Lincoln. Forgiven does not mean forgotten, and CPs acts are neither by most.

Historically it seems like there is correlation with dominating teams and the number of players on those teams that "push the edge".

IE: Miami, FSU, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma. It isn't the choir boys on those teams that get them over the hump - its usually those 3 to 6 guys you would not want to meet in a dark alley (or meet your sister) that can take a team to the promised land. Smokin It's a question of how many Brian Bosworths or Warren Sapps you can tolerate.

First of all, it's unfortunate that you would quote anything affiliated with the Boston Globe for "facts" on NU football. This is the same newspaper that reported that after Lawrence Phillips pulled Kate McEwen down the stairs that she was in a coma for 5 days. When the facts as actually came out at trial were that she suffered only a slight cut on the back of her head when Scott Frost and a downstairs neighbor pushed between her and LP, for which she initially refused any medical treatment. The Glob also reported that 1 of NU's starting wide receivers in the '95 Orange Bowl was on parole following a 2nd Degree murder conviction after he shot and killed a cop during a botched attempt at robbing a 7-11.

The fact is that CP was not arrested 8 times. It's easy to locate the facts if you know where to look. He was ticketed twice for alcohol related offenses (MIP, disorderly conduct, etc.) adding up to 7 charges. He was also ticketed with 3rd Degree Misdemeanor Sexual Assault for groping Ms. K (I'm not going to try and spell her name). He pleaded no contest to that offense. It would have been interesting had he gone to trial, as even Ms. K acknowledged that she had been sitting on CP's lap and kissing him before the alleged grope. But she claimed that she said stop and he didn't, which if believed was certainly a crime. As for Kathy Redmond, only she and CP know what happened. But she lied so consistently and so obviously during the entire process that I can't believe anyone would believe the rape claim. Example: she claimed she was terrified to even walk across campus for six months after the alleged rapes for fear of running into CP or even other football players. Those six months would have been until June, 1993. But everyone else, including her friends, stated that she and CP were dating as an exclusive couple until he broke it off in September, 1993. Also, an article in the Daily Nebraskan in February, 1993 describes how she was spending up to 4 hours a day in the football offices, using their phones, copiers and fax machines to try and set up a club woman's field hockey team. Let's see, she claims that she was terrified of football players, but was spending up to 4 hours a day in the football offices. Hmmm. Oh, and her faculty sponsor was George Darlington who, according to article, was introduced to KR by her football player boyfriend. He was not named, but I bet with 3 guesses you can come up with a name.

CP was "punished" a great deal more than missing a spring game. Bottom line is that CP wasn't an angel, but if you are going to castigate him, at least get the facts somewhere in the same zip code of the truth.

I could link volumes of other sources. They're all out there waiting to be viewed.

Be careful not to adopt the common PSU mentality.

You could link all kinds of BS sources. Big deal. A really big pile of crap is a still crap. My sources are the court files, police files, and talking to the people involved, including even 2 individuals who played football with CP in the NJ Academy that CP went to. I have viewed a ton of secondary sources online. I assume (hopefully) that you know the difference between primary sources and secondary sources. And those secondary sources are completely contradicted by what people testified to under oath and what is in police reports. I have to laugh at people like you who rely on online sources as accurate when every study has shown that between 60% and 80% of what is claimed to be truth online is actually false. But of course, YOUR secondary sources are completely accurate.

There is a reason that the police investigated KR's rape claims TWICE (the second time on the direct orders of Gary Lacey, the Lancaster County DA and a complete Tom Osborne hater) and based on those 2 investigations found absolutely NO basis to charge CP. There is a reason that Lisa Simpson sued the University of Colorado under Title IX in a suit that was virtually identical to the suit KR brought against NU, and Simpson settled for 2.1 million and NU paid KR nuisance value of $50,000 to go away. Of course, I am also somewhat prejudiced against KR since I have direct evidence based on her actions with the legal system in Colorado Springs that she is perfectly willing to file completely false police reports and reports with landlords in order to gain revenge against people who she believed slighted her. But you don't need to have dealt with KR personally to know that her rape claims were so full of holes as to make Swiss cheese look solid.

Everything I stated in my initial post is based on court documents, police reports, and talking directly to those involved, Yet you rely on a source that stated that 1 of NU's starting receivers in the 1995 Orange Bowl had a conviction for 2nd Degree Murder. Who was that receiver anyway? Yet you want to claim that source as accurate. LOL.

Thanks for the replies in this thread. There are always 2 sides to every story; it just depends on which side you end up on. The common ground ITT is CP was a great football player, but could've made much better personal decisions. It sounds like he's taken steps to become a solid citizen which is definetely commendable.

No question that CP had issues. Everyone I talked to that knew him, including those who didn't like him that much, said that when he was sober he was a great guy. One guy said that if you asked CP for help he would give you the shirt off his back and then slip a hundred bucks in the pocket. But when he got drunk, it was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. However, after his run-ins with the law early in his career at NU he was given a number of requirements that he had to meet, including no more alcohol consumption PERIOD while at NU, with him agreeing to random blood tests for the rest of his career at NU. He also was required to attend meetings with AA or a like group, as well as undergo psychological counseling. He was a Prop 48 (or whatever it was called that year) student and so had to sit out 1991, but the next year he redshirted. At the time journalists as well as friends of mine who watched the team could not understand why he redshirted. The excuse given was that he needed to drop some weight and work on his footwork, which didn't make sense to them; he was raw but still a monster at NG and while Conneally was really good, there was a drop off after him. It turned out later that the main reason he redshirted was to make sure he kept up with the requirements imposed upon him for a year before he was allowed to play. He was also required to go out and speak at local schools. My mother worked at Riley Elementary and said he was one of the better speakers, as he came in and basically said "I almost screwed up, learn from me."

@soybean simply taking BlueDevilHusker's word for it. Here's what I was referring to:
