We had more than a handful of internet badasses on this board say they were going to violate the rule. Many MSU fans are too dumb to enjoy a good thing. At least most are wearing white tonight.

How could they possibly hold us to that rule in a non SEC game?

Now if you just don't believe they will act differently, we will just have to see.

17ing MEMPHIS??!! Do you honestly think they will follow the rules in a game that really matters when we play Auburn next week? Cowbells will be no more in 2011.

opponent like Memphis. Sure, the school wanted this game to be a practice in responsibility but the "cowbell rule" is a SEC rule. The fans figured what the hell, let's ring them while we have the chance and what better venue to do it than an ESPN broadcast.

but most likely tonight was mild in comparison to what we may see thursday. and forget about fund raising, raise the visitor ticket prices enough to cover the cost

Not sure what you guys heard or saw but nobody in my section was ringing a cow bell before the play. I didn't bring mine because I knew I couldn't ring responsibly but I yelled my *** off. Everybody else around me was quiet as a church mouse. We will need to be a lot louder against Auburn that is for sure.

We rang them proudy!!

It is a Non-Conference game. I never considered not ringing it for that.

Dawgzilla Tron said make some noise with pictures of Cowbells and all!!!! I assumed that meant to ring the heck out the bell.

Hell that's when the cowbells have always been the loudest, right before the other team snaps the ball. Especially in the student sections. I heard students joking saying "ring responsibly!" sarcastically to their 'bros' all day. The rule that they changed was in the SEC rulebook, so I doubt they were worried about it today, but we will definitely see something happen next game I'm sure.

to not ring when say, Bump catches a wide open rocket and has 20 - 30 yds in front of him, or when we blow a play up in the backfield, penalties on them, etc. All of those times are considered "illegal". I was 3 rows up from Thomas Sellers, (SA prez) and I kept my eye on his bell, because "stoppages of play" is a little vauge. The Ford sign in the top right corner of the Dawgzillatron was also VERY slow, to change from "yell" to "ring". Its just gonna be really hard on thurs when people have been drinking all day and then Pernell gets after Cam and misses but still chases: the bells will be INSANE.
