....had a quick conversation with a Tiger fan today. I was wearing my MSU shirt and he noticed me in line at Krogers. I sort of congratulated him on their latest CWS Title. He said thanks and asked if I thought MSU was going to get any better at baseball with our new coaching staff. I replied, I thought so depending on how we do at Portal recruiting. He then said, "well, LSU has got the Portal locked down". "Yall, UT, ARK, OM, Vandy, might get some crumbs left over after the Tigers have eaten". "We have a NIL fund second to none for baseball and the gap is really large between us and everybody else". "If there are any more Paul Skene types out there, they will be finishing their career in Baton Rouge". I said "oh, ok". (This conversation started off fairly innocent, but the LSU guy was starting to get a little too braggadocious for me.) Some more small talk and then he pretty much ended in saying "well, yall step on the gas cause there's nobody in the SEC in our rearview as far as baseball goes". I said "yeah, hard to argue with 8 CWS Titles". I then finished telling him "see you at the Taj Mahal" of college baseball next year". Of course he replied "Yeah right....when MSU leads the nation in attendance, you might enter the conversation" .....in about as smart aleck a way possible. So, I grabbed my bags and left as I felt my blood pressure rising. Last words I uttered...."Go Dogs".

I made an innocent comment to a UT fan that we fell off after the CWS win. His response was, “I’d disagree with you. Mississippi State didn’t fall off, but Tennessee, Florida, and LSU got good.” And I was like “Yeah, I’d disagree with you because 9-21 back to back after winning a natty is falling off.”
He was stuck there because it was the LSU fan’s checkout line

Aluminum bat baseball is not much to brag about or get upset about. I would have just flipped the conversation and started talking to him about that time in 2014 when we came to Baton Rouge and beat their asses in Tiger Stadium.

Us building the new Dude took their insecurities to a next level. And they were already insecure about Ole Miss's stadium having more capacity than the new Box. They are chasing ghosts, USC hasn't won a CWS in 27 years. Muh Powerhouse. It's comical.
And that’s now the life of a Mississippi State sports fan going forward. Baseball or bust. Screw everything else. That’s why we paid the baseball coach a ridiculous amount of money. Nothing to look forward to sports wise until next year.
It's been really hard on LSU watching themselves waste $100M on Brian Kelly. Think about it. With NIL, all the great LSU and the entire State of Louisiana has now to hope for is college baseball. That's wild to realize. Likely to not even make the football playoffs with any sort of regularity.
