Gottfried got NC State doing well, now John Brady has Ark State

in the hunt for an NCAA bid by winning the West of the Sun Belt. Obviously winning a side of the conference isnt a big deal- but he has put himself in position to win the conference Tourney....

Wouldnt it be great to have Gottfried and Brady in the NCAA Tourney?

Yeah I remember a thread a month or so ago knocking down Gottfried and I couldn't quite get it because they were looking good. I don't remember who started it but it seemed kind of contradictory.

Yes, Gottfried is a real success story. Preseason #6 and picked to win the ACC to unranked and 8-6 6th place in a mediocre ACC. He's quite a coach.

Any talk of Gottfried and Brady doing well gives the Sixpack old timers saddle sores. We used to have 6 page threads arguing them and The Recruiter back in the early days

He's made the Sweet 16 and an Elite 8- and is about to make his 9th NCAA Tourney is 16 years as a HC- that aint bad

Dale Brown made two Final Fours. Gene Chizik won a national championship and two other bowl games. Stuff happens.

Ron Polk is in the Hall of Fame and he did the same thing. What's your point?

Nobody said Gottfried is special- but he is a pretty good coach. 9 NCAA's in 16 years aint bad

excuse me- Ron Polk turned the #1 team in the nation into a 12-17 SEC team that missed the SEC Tourney- but slipped into a regional as the 9th team out of the SEC

We missed the SEC Tourney did we not ?

#1 in the nation to not making your own conference tourney. 12-17 in conference yet amazingly made the NCAA Tourney.

We did miss the SEC tourney, SEC did not get 9 teams however. However you slice it, being #1 and slipping but still making the NCAA tournament is always better than being #1, slipping, and not making the NCAA tournament.

Gottfried is doing a good job up here in NC. He got some top recruits last year, and they're a pretty good team. Lost today to UNC, although the game was close until about 4 minutes left.

Dont talk good job by Gottfried here- HD6 and D@A may have their heads explode. They spent years talking about how much better the Recruiter was than Gottfried and Brady- it would kill them if either coach made another NCAA Tourney-Sweet 16

I'd say he's a little better than Stans in the postseason (with a very small sample size), worse in the regular season overall, a little better in the regular season in the last 7 years, and a lot better at not having teams that embarrass the university off the court.

You just can't let it go can you? Brady had two wives leave him for womanizing. Gottfried had his little problem too. You love Richard Williams who put all of them to shame in that category. I can only assume you are in love with Bill Clinton. There's not a shred of evidence to support this, and I suspect HD and even Dawgbreeze would agree. I don't think any of those three are worth a crap. That's just flat out making up stuff that never happened.

I don't think anyone has ever questioned his ability to get players. What he does with those players.......lots of questions. Are you really saying the NC State fans are happy to have been #6 in the first poll of the year and now be in the middle of the pack in the ACC? I doubt that is the case.

Yeah, you're right. They are an up and down team. They beat Duke and then lose to a lot of teams they shouldn't lose to. They have a lot of good talent, though, and could possibly make it pretty far in the NCAA tournament if all of them play like they are capable of.

Twice this has been said and both times it was a false statement. Not going to take up for Gottfried because that was a horrible collapse, but they still made the NCAA tourney that year.

So basically- Gottfried that season did the same thing as Hall of Famer Ron Polk- made the Tourney?

We went in over LSU that year I believe, who we had beaten 2 out 3 in BR. Templeton was also head of the selection committee that year.
