Ridiculous to give him any higher than an F. 2-10 (worse than any year Croom ever had), 0-8 in the SEC (never even had a single-digit loss), got completely dominated and humiliated by a 7-5 MAC team, full of moments of incredible stupidity, low football IQ, and boneheadedness. There's just not a single positive to take away from this season, not a single glimmer of hope or optimism looking at the future.

I get that Arnett left him in a bind with the talent, but there's no excuse to be this disgraceful. NIL and the Portal are leading to non-prestigious programs all over the country being much more competitive with the Elites and reinventing themselves over one offseason. It could have been us too, but instead we are the worst Power Conference team by a significant margin (other than maybe Purdue?).

And why are we in this situation? Because our lazy Athletic Director promised us a national search and then just hired his buddy who no head coaching experience, a guy that our fans already disliked from his years at Ole Miss, and who had some ... baggage ... that prevented any other school from ever hiring him as a head coach.

We're stuck with him for one more year, but without some kind of shocking turnaround, we'll be looking for a new head coach a year from now.

Extra question: If you disagree with me and don't give him an F, what would it have taken for him to get an F? Lose to UMass too? Why are your standards so low?

I think Kiffin needs a D at best. That roster, that schedule and ended up 9-3. He is innovative and with enough money he can build a roster but on game day he is very average coach who makes bone head decisions. They should have beaten the crap out of us, but they could not even cover the spread at home. Flame away.

TBH, the roster was going to be a mess even if Leach had not died. But if you are going to be a big time football coach, you don’t hire friends.
Doubt it, he developed players and used the portal. We haven’t brought in a portal player in two years. Deontae Anderson, John Lewis, Albert Reese , Nicholson are all players that could have developed except for crap coaching the last two years.

Jalen Green, Randy Charlton , Jackie Matthews , Speedy Banks were guys brought in out of the portal. along with Makai Polk, Mosley, Lasoya, JRob and others.

Ten losses and never even sniffed a conference win. Worst season in my memory. I’m almost 50 but was too young to remember the bad Felker years. Only reason I didn’t give him and F is because we beat 2 teams, so I guess it could’ve been worse somehow. If we don’t go 6-6 next year, fire him. Bottom line. We live in a results world.

A ”F” for no other reason than losing and losing badly at home to Toledo. Really! That was as bad as traveling to Ruston La. and losing to La Tech. I was there!

A whole lot of mediocre talent listed there. Banks is the most accomplished of the bunch, he is on a NFL practice squad, but any coach worth his salt shouldn’t lose at home to Toledo.

Not really. They were sec quality players that won nine games. if You don’t think Charlton, green and Jackie Matthews were solid sec players I can’t help you.

no program in the country can go two years without getting a player out of the portal, that’s essentially what we’ve done.

I’m giving him somewhat of a pass this year.
Team didn’t quit on him, played competitively for most of the SEC games, have some playmakers to work with next year, let’s see what the portal does for us, Id fire Hutzler tomorrow but that ain’t happening so that may bite him in his fat *** next year.

I'm not trying to be an arse, but if you're almost 50 how can you not remember the Felker years? I'm 52 and remember them like they were yesterday. I actually wish I could forget most of them. Rockey's first year was my freshmen year of high school, and his last my freshmen year of college. Boy, do I remember.

Decent coach goes 5-7 or 6-6. Every program like ours has down years. Talent was down but not like what many of our fans are trying to portray. Lot like 2011 or so.
Saw a stat today, maybe announcers said it , we have the most consecutive SEC losses by double digits since Vanderbilt teams in the Early 1970s.

Didn’t really follow State football until high school. I’m 5 years younger than you. So I really got interested in State around Sherrill’s arrival.

Recruiting and the Portal-gets are the issue IMO. We just don't have enough talent to compete in the SEC right now. What if Hutzler had Simmons, Sweat, Chris Jones, and F. Cox type talent in the DL? And Slay types in the D-backfield? We have nothing close to that level. Unless we can get more to those types, then it doesn't matter who our coaches are......we could have Saban & Belichek and we'd still only win 2-3 games.

That's just delusionally untrue. You think Saban would have lost to Toledo?

A decent coach would have beaten Toledo and pulled another SEC win out (maybe Arkansas or Missouri, or somebody).

A great coach would have also beaten Arizona State and another SEC game or two.

Well, he IS one of the OG Genespagers. Probably wanted to give Croom time too.

If he had a defensive line that got blown off the ball like we do, yes. Remember Croom beat his first Bama team. I voted F by the way.
