Lets not forget, this all started last year in a game against the Ville. A game in which the Cards deliberately/strategically played very physically/chippy knowing that Duke couldn't respond in kind due to lack of depth. Grayson gets T'd up for a trip that: never even gets called or noticed in years prior to official review, nobody even knows whether it was intentional or not, had to be called because it was reviewed and technically was a trip but really wasn't flagrant or even that uncommon in that situation, and was much less than he was getting all game.
I'll go further. The FSU trip was clearly a (bad) response to a deliberate provocation. A lot of the fury came from the lack of an official ACC response. Well, the ACC response should have been a reprimand to both players. Simple. We are not going to stand for this boys. End of story. If the story was both kids displayed poor judgement, Grayson is much less the villain. Bottom line, XRM was by far the worse offender in that situation. But that wasn't the dialogue, was it?
I'll go even further. The Elon kid fouled Grayson first. He deliberately pinned his arm. The call should have been: Offensive foul on the Elon kid for the arm grab and then a dead ball foul on Grayson. After the review, they could/should have changed the offensive foul to a flagrant one since pinning someone's arm is not a basketball move. If they also call Grayson's a flagrant one, that would be similarly justified. But, with double fouls, once again, Grayson should not be the villain.
After multiple reviews and no mention of XRM' offense and the Elon kid's offense I can only say one thing. F- em all! God I hope Grayson lights up UNC, Duke wins the ACC Tourney and the Natty and Grayson is MOP of the Final Four.
