Maybe Allen needs to step away from the game a bit to get his mind right. He's only hurting himself and the team with his antics. I'm glad Duke took a stance and I hope that Allen fixes whatever is going on and comes back and leads us to the national championship!

Great move. The program comes first. As much as I love the basketball and all Duke sports it's the integrity that we have always upheld that makes Duke special to me. I love the standards that we hold, that is what separates us from the rest. I wish Grayson the best and I want him to grow as a man and a person and could not care less if he plays basketball again if he doesn't grow from this.

Man... just a terrible situation all around. From being the preseason national player of the year to this. Hopefully this is the wake up call that he needs and comes back after getting whatever help he needs to resolve this problem.

I understand that all the media bashing of Grayson is warranted but let's remember this, he is a Junior in college, I know I did not make the best desicions when I was his age. Hopefully he can get his mind right. I have 100 percent faith in Grayson Allen as a person and a player.

First off, I think we can all agree that some form of punishment was necessary.

I think Coach K handled this perfectly, which is no surprise. An "indefinite" suspension doesn't necessarily mean more than one game. To me it's just a way to kill the media outrage and also avoid the inevitable commentary, positive or negative, about the amount of time Coach K deems appropriate.

Regardless of how much time he misses, I hope he gets right. This is clearly taking its toll on him.

If indefinitely is multiple games, it is too many IMO.

One or two seems logical.

My guess is this wasn't K's decision alone. But indefinite carries a much stronger tone than 3 games. Pretty smart move IFYAM.

You never make a decision in the heat of the moment. K made the decision with a clear head after reviewing things. That is why he is the GOAT

Here's DSouthR on the matter (post suspension):
""indefinite suspension" is all well and good but the act of putting the kid back in that game should have the ACC if not the NCAA giving the coach a reprimand. It is one thing to say today that he does not condone this type of action by his players but the act of putting him back in that game last night says he did condone it last night."

I guess everyone thinks Coach K sits and watches replays at halftime of a close game? THR is full of vitriol right now. The narrative that Coach K condones this behavior is strong over there. THR is a sad bunch.

K was talking with refs during tantrum & didn't see how GA disrespected Scheyer. To me, that was the worst part of the whole episode.

There's no sin in making a terrible mistake, especially as a young person. The sin is making the SAME terrible mistake not twice but three times. Harry Giles' ACL (according to him) was torn his sophomore year due to dirty play. Why wait until somebody gets hurt bad? It's serious. A person is running and you unexpectedly take their leg from under them can and has resulted in SERIOUS injury. If you're upset I'd rather you get in the other guys face push him.

I am disappointed about all this just like most others on this board. Someone said it elsewhere here and I agree.....after the incident I had the same lousy feelings I have after we lose a big game, like a punch in the gut.

I think K made the right call here. This young man needs to get his head on straight whether that takes one game on the bench in street clothes or the rest of the season. JMHO.

I feel for the kid. I hope he can get his emotions under control and return in a positive way.

Good move by K.

THR is a bunch of morons, all of them. They are grabbing at straws because K handled the situation as a professional and they all ran their mouths too quickly last night with their typical anti K agenda.

That's to be expected. I'd advoid going over there if you don't want to see stuff like what you'll see there. We live in a world where we want to rush to judgement except when it is against us. Ironic for THR! Sometimes it's good to gather facts, understand the situation and make a call... the right call. K made the right call here. But no matter what K did short of kicking him out of the program would satisfy them.

I can understand his frustration at having played poorly, but this is more than a maturity issue. I firmly believe the young man is mentally unstable and poses a threat to himself and others. He needs professional counseling and intensive therapy and he needs treatment immediately. This is NOT an issue that will be resolved over the holiday break. If K doesn't want to reactivate him until he's on firm ground, we may not see him again this season.

Well..disappointing, but this is what needed to happen.

His outburst/reaction IMO was much worse than even the tripping..which was bad..

Glad K handled it today...the only thing I wish he would of done differently was not put Grayson back in the game last night...I have no problem with taking the time and a clearer head to make a decision...

The team will either rally now and start to come together or fracture at the seams...guess we will have to wait and see which occurs..

I don't think this team is in a good place currently...but if anyone can bring it together it's K...but the time is really short now...this will be another player out and missing...

Well, I'm a straight shooter. I'm old school and I believe in fair play and sportsmanship. I'm glad he's suspended. And I'll take all the fire you've got on this one, but my view can't be changed. What he did was childish, unprofessional, embarrassing and uncalled for. He's been coached on the issue. Yep, he's a kid, but he's taken a path he knows has to be walked a certain way. That's life. After this suspension, he's got one more chance. If he trips someone purposely again, I hope he is removed from the team. Permanently. Grow up or move on. He's shown his *** worse than Suliamon in my eyes. I love this team and it deserves better than having to wade through childish B.S.

I'm glad to see this move come from K and not the ACC. I really hope Grayson learns from this and we can get some better chemistry moving forward. Anybody have any idea why it's indefinite and not a set time? I'm thinking no more than a game or two, yeah? Marcus Smart was suspended three games for pushing a fan in the stands, so surely his suspension will be less than that.

I'm certainly disappointed. I have to believe something else is going on with Grayson. I can relate to someone who puts too much pressure on himself, and it looks like he is taking that to the extreme this year.

I hope he can get things under control and get back in the team down the road. I'm rooting for the kid.

Very important time in the young mans life. Time to look in the mirror, do some soul searching and make the changes needed. Agree with those of you who say that if this happens one more time he's done at Duke.

I do not agree at all with what Grayson did but good grief guys the freakin media is tearing his *** apart and to me that's ridiculous. I've had people at work that doesn't even follow hoops asking if someone from Duke has committed some sort of violent crime. But we do live in a society that would rather sit back and rip others instead of reaching out and lending support whe someone is down and at a low point in life. To rip Coach for putting him back in the game last night is wrong to. We are all outsiders looking in. They are family. Let Duke handle it and lend support.

the only thing that matters is eyeballs and clicks. They couldn't care less about the person they're bashing. Accept that and move on and I recommend not giving them your eyes or clicks.

I stand by by K, Duke and Grayson. They need to bring in somebody like Battier and talk to him about integrity and honor, on and off the court.

I also am fine with the suspension. My first Duke jersey is a Grayson Allen jersey. Just disappointed.

Yeah, and on top of it they are losing a half million subscribers a month, they are in scramble mode to salvage jobs and find a new way to get views, unfortunately this is the stuff that gets just that.
