Hello Everyone.

Nole fan here, but I wanted to drop in and offer my support. Hang in there folks. It'll get better. I love watching Grayson play and hope he'll make it back on the court sooner rather than later. Maybe after January 10th, eh? ;) Hey, we need to even the odds a bit. I don't look forward to that probable butt kicking. Take care and Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays).

I can understand his frustration at having played poorly, but this is more than a maturity issue. I firmly believe the young man is mentally unstable and poses a threat to himself and others. He needs professional counseling and intensive therapy and he needs treatment immediately. This is NOT an issue that will be resolved over the holiday break. If K doesn't want to reactivate him until he's on firm ground, we may not see him again this season.

Huh? Like really, what are you talking about?

I guess I'll be the person who tells everyone to relax. We are talking about a kid playing college basketball who gets caught up in the emotion of the game and when things don't go his way he has a tendency to be "dirty" Does draymond green need intensive mental health counseling every time he knees someone in the balls? Is it immature? Yes. Is it unsportsmanlike? Yes. Is it getting tiresome to have to deal with? Yes. Did he need to be suspended? Yes. But if you are of the opinion that this is anything more than a kid who doesn't handle things well when he gets frustrated I simply don't agree in the slightest. This is a kid who continues to misbehave and needs to be given stiffer consequences. Period.

I think we can all agree that Grayson has a problem that needs to be fixed. It seems to me that it is just a complete instinct for him to throw his leg up before he even has time to think about what he is doing and that's not something easy to fix. He regrets it afterwards and I feel he is truly sorry afterwards but I think it is something that happens so quick that by the time he realizes what he is doing it is too late. I don't condone it at all but instinctive behavior is difficult to change and I hope he can figure out how to get it under control.

I was at the game last night and watched him off the ball and on the bench. He played hard but definitely is bothered by something. When he came onto court to warm up for second half, the ref pulled him aside and talked to him as did several Duke players. He never said anything back, just a grim look on his face.Pressure is getting to him and he responded poorly. After his break he will be a different player I think.

Working with troubled kids on both the law enforcement and mentoring part. I can tell you that some great kids crack under pressure and one mistake leads to another very often no matter your back ground or intelligence level.
I agree with the suspension and imo it is more the. Deserving given the circumstances. However he's getting a bashing not just because of the incident but who he plays for and that I can't except.
If this young man played any where else this would be an after thought already.
I hope he takes a step back and realizes his mistakes and learns from it. Apologizing is always the first step admitting you did wrong is as well.

Well, I'm a straight shooter. I'm old school and I believe in fair play and sportsmanship. I'm glad he's suspended. And I'll take all the fire you've got on this one, but my view can't be changed. What he did was childish, unprofessional, embarrassing and uncalled for. He's been coached on the issue. Yep, he's a kid, but he's taken a path he knows has to be walked a certain way. That's life. After this suspension, he's got one more chance. If he trips someone purposely again, I hope he is removed from the team. Permanently. Grow up or move on. He's shown his *** worse than Suliamon in my eyes. I love this team and it deserves better than having to wade through childish B.S.

No, I have your back on this one..that's been my take on this since it happened. That said, I think this is bigger than basketball, he needs to step back and maybe talk to someone, not just for his basketball career but overall for his well being, something isn't right with him..

I stand by by K, Duke and Grayson. They need to bring in somebody like Battier and talk to him about integrity and honor, on and off the court.

I also am fine with the suspension. My first Duke jersey is a Grayson Allen jersey. Just disappointed.

Dang, that would be a great idea..see if Battier can work with him a bit or at least talk to him..

I'm glad to see this move come from K and not the ACC. I really hope Grayson learns from this and we can get some better chemistry moving forward. Anybody have any idea why it's indefinite and not a set time? I'm thinking no more than a game or two, yeah? Marcus Smart was suspended three games for pushing a fan in the stands, so surely his suspension will be less than that.
The problem is it was coming from the ACC so Coach K had no choice. I love Coach K and respect everything he stands for but something is wrong. Coach K talks to a kid from Oregon's team about his behavior but is defending Allen last night.

Really surprising he did that because he didn't as a freshman. Don't know what discipline was done last year but one would think that he'd have learned his lesson. Memory fails but he probably needed to come out with a big mea Culpa after the second trip last season. And his attitude toward Scheyer compounded a bad action. He obviously has a problem. Hopefully he will learn from this. And K and the coaches will help him. But even if he gets off the suspension, it may be a while for him to be able to play with a healthy mind. Sometimes these things are tough to overcome. It will be a challenge for him and for K.

Maybe I'm late to the game....but where have you seen this was something coming from the ACC and not Duke? Also, where did K defend Allen for his actions? I'm not saying neither are true, but I'm asking you to point me in the direction where I can learn what you're saying is true. Thanks!

You say if he played any where else. This would be an after thought already. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. If he played at Kentucky, he would have been crucified by the national media after the first tripping incidence last season. No, the reason he & Duke is catching such hell over this is because he did this 2 times last season & Kryzyewski didn't suspend him then. And on top of that, I didn't watch your Duke game last night. But it's my understanding that coach K put him back in the game after it happened. If Allen doesn't get himself under control. Sooner or later he's going to cause a free for all riot.

People don't care as much about Kentucky. Their fans do, but in all honesty most others don't. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. Every game Duke plays is nationally televised for a reason....it's because people watch.

Lastly, I do agree with you that this wouldn't be an afterthought if he played someplace else. Now, do I think it's sensationalized more because Grayson plays for Duke? Yeah, probably. But I'm also used to that.

Here's DSouthR on the matter (post suspension):
""indefinite suspension" is all well and good but the act of putting the kid back in that game should have the ACC if not the NCAA giving the coach a reprimand. It is one thing to say today that he does not condone this type of action by his players but the act of putting him back in that game last night says he did condone it last night."

I guess everyone thinks Coach K sits and watches replays at halftime of a close game? THR is full of vitriol right now. The narrative that Coach K condones this behavior is strong over there. THR is a sad bunch.

Knew they would still spin this as bad and not that K was able to look at in it's entirety and then make a more informed decision. Which WAS the case.

K was talking with refs during tantrum & didn't see how GA disrespected Scheyer. To me, that was the worst part of the whole episode.

What exactly did GA do to Scheyer? I think I turned away from the game at the time from shear disappointment in the situation.

Yeah, I didn't see anything?

My wife (who is a therapist) got a serious sad face when Grayson was on the bench and you could see Jon's hand on his head. You could just see the kid was falling apart:(

I know Laettner was at the game, so I imagine he caught more detail in what transpired when the cameras weren't on grayson. from the little i saw, grayson was emotional upset and angry...etc. I assumed it was because he realized how stupid his actions were and how that type of an action was going to blow up and be distracting.

Since then, I've seen quite a few posters say his reaction to the situation was worse than the trip itself. Just curious why they feel that way- i imagine he must have done even more than what the cameras showed

The second I saw the play I knew it would be blown completely out of proportion. I think the suspension is necessary at this point, being the third offense. This is not a viscious act. In fact, it hasn't come close to causing an injury. I agree he has an issue seperating anger and competitiveness. But it is far from the dirtiest plays I've seen playing and watching basketball. I think he simply needs to suppress his anger and frustration. He can't get so upset where his competitiveness makes him do stupid, unsportsmanlike things. He just needs to take some deep breaths and not let things build up. It's sad because everyone says he is a good, quiet kid off the court. I hope for his sake, he can learn to control himself better because he will become a loner in the league with everyone trying to bait him.

Grayson has a lot going on, whether it's revealed or not; being at Duke, NBA, scoring, etc... He has a lot of pressure on him whether he put it there or not.

His actions are and have been terrible. However, I do not foresee a long suspension. K knew he had to do something to save face at Duke, the team, and himself. It was the right move. The kid will be back by mid - Jan.

You're on our board. No one would come to your board to discuss a UK player bc frankly we really don't care. Every single thing on espn was about this- everything, as in top five links on their homepage.

The kid tripped someone. OMG suspend him for the entire season and force K to retire. This is outrageous and should be talked about by every media outlet in the country unlike the star RB beating the **** out of a woman. It should get more run than the rape cover ups at Baylor and the undeniable cheating that goes on in the $EC.

Note: sarcasm

Good grief this is ridiculous.

I get what you're saying, but part of being at Duke means constantly being watched, and often times, constantly being scrutinized. It just comes with the territory.

It absolutely does, but that doesn't make it right! Sit back and think about the absolute amazement off this situation. Their is an ESPN writer that thinks there should be jail time for assault. Yes, F'ing jail time! Come on man!

Report on ESPN said, "ACC coaches watching close to see what happened, and some concerns stated to league office". Coach K sure looked like he was defending the behavior when he was debating he ref last night and his message to the media last night was not a real strong statement of denouncing of the actions. Look, Coach K opened himself of for this when he put himself in the place of managing behavior of the Oregon player last year. Should have the Elon coach said something to Allen? Coach K needed to come out strong last night about how the behavior was going to be corrected. He didn't so it gives the appearance to being soft.

This in my opinion is overdue. It should have happened after the 2nd incident last season. It is also my opinion that Grayson should be stripped of his captaincy. I'm sorry, but the young man needs to feel this. He obviously hasn't learned his lesson. The indefinite title of the suspension is the way it should be. It shouldn't just be a game, he needs to learn from this and one game won't allow him to feel remorse. He also needs to seek out some professional help, I think there may be some underlying anger management issues here.

Coach K preaches accountability and upholding a standard of excellence. Grayson has not lived up to that standard.

This was well overdue and I'm sorry if you don't agree but it's my opinion.

Been at work today and this crossed my mind. I wonder if Grayson has been like this all his life. I'm talking as a child, while in school and high school. Not just basketball but in everything. The inability to not be able to control ones anger just doesn't happen to appear over night. Does this make sense to you guys. Maybe he needs to go to some type of therapy. No matter what he does in life or anyone else for that matter most can't keep a job if they have anger mgt. issues. I believe in Grayson. I believe he can beat this thing. OFC

I agree with the anger issues. Something is just not right here and someone needs to get to the bottom of the issues. Coach K is America's coach, and fans of the sport need Coach to take control of his team and represent the sport. Correcting someone else's players then being slow to the draw on your own kids sends a bad message.

It should be three to be taken seriously and sincere. Just my opinion. OFC

I think and indefinite timeline is a really good move by K. Rather than knowing he's going to be out 2 games and sitting on the bench just waiting until game after next, he gets to sit there on the pine and watch the games unknowing when he gets to be back out there.

I agree, sitting and waiting and not knowing how long you're going to be suspended will make Grayson do a lot more soul searching than having a fixed time line. It could be 2 games or the rest of the season, who knows. This gives everyone (staff and players) a chance to see how Grayson reacts, but no one really knows if or when he will truly get his act together. I'm hoping this will bring the team closer and the players will rally behind Grayson and one another and we start kicking everyone's ***!

What exactly did GA do to Scheyer? I think I turned away from the game at the time from shear disappointment in the situation.

As the T was verified by refs, Grayson went into a rage, curled his arms, screamed F--- directly at the crowd with eyes closed & face of fury. TV did not catch this. Scheyer tried to bear hug him but GA fought if off & then the bench meltdown occurred. A few players stood there in shock. Jones patted Grayson on head & returned to floor. Every fan behind Duke bench was speechless including me. Even my 7 year old sensed this was totally abnormal. It was way worse in person.

Just stop, seriously. K has dealt with this team the right way since day 1. Talk about problems, coach ain't one.
