Was worried they would cut their losses after 2 lost seasons. But, he has shown himself to be someone that they want to wait for.

I don't think they have much to lose other than about $500,000 which is nothing in terms of player salaries. I think the way this works is eventually they'll put him on IR to free up a roster spot, but he stays on payroll and counts against the salary cap.

Now if he was making $5 million / year... he'd probably be cut.
