Assuming the speculation/early articles are true, Cal to UK is a huge lift to the conference. Cal going to UK is potentially going to make them a national contender overnight. If he can get Patterson/Meeks to stay (tossup) and 2 or 3 or the Memphis recruits (likely), UK goes from embarrassing to damn solid overnight.

I hate UK as much as the next guy. But let's face it, a nationally contending UK is good for the conference. People care more about the SEC when UK is good - simple as that. I don't want to see any more years like this past year. Three SEC teams in the NCAA tournament is embarrassing. Cal is obviously a step in the right direction for UK, but also a benefit to all SEC parties involved. I'm looking forward to the next few years in the SEC as the youth matures, the ESPN coverage kicks in, and competitiveness heats up.

it will be tougher sledding for the rest of us, but it is good for the SEC overall.

I must say that I am just enjoying the hell out of the Memphis fans about to either (a) jump off the bridge or (b) burn his house down. It's been an entertaining day at work.

if their program falls off the map, the bandwagon fans will be gone, and they will need to fill up that $250 million building they share with the Grizzlies (who at their pace, will be moving away). Best way to do that is to schedule State, Ole Miss and Arkansas, in addition to UT.

But if the rumors are true, or even close to true, I don't think they can afford it. Cal brings in more money to the University than anyone, but I really don't think Memphis' pockets are $7M a year deep...

wherever he goes. UK has indeed reached the desperation point to even touch Calipari. (Final Four appearance voided by the NCAA.) I know Cal has won at Memphis, but the CUSA ain't the SEC, Memphis ain't UK, and the pressure on Hardy Street doesn't compare to what the WildCat fans serve up.

Izzo is the guy they should have targeted, but there may not be a lever long enough to pry him out of Lansing.

Or is there one?

Since UK had major violations once before - and almost got the death penalty, I wonder what would happen if they got them again?

Needless to say, Cal will have to keep the paid "internships", furs, bling and cars a little quieter in Lexington.

Last week one of the homers on 560 was talking about Anderson. He would be a really good hire, but I just don't see him leaving since he's been at MO for such a short time. I also think they could throw enough money at him to keep him happy.</p>

the investigation is concluded (when sanctions are normally handed down)

NCAA cleared him on the Camby thing. What else has he done, besides win?

a couple years back at Memphis that somehow never got much attention and apparently just went away.
