Yikes. Def a foul before the shot.

Ok I’ll eat crow after seeing it again. But its not a shooting foul.

they were going to do that to us one more time and there was going to be around 5 seconds or less.

If I were Hurley I am fouling up 3 and we probably never even see an attempt to tie the game.

the game was lost well before this by the refs and Budd’s poor performance overall.

No, it was lost on the bogus foul call with 53 seconds left.

We really played them toe to toe. Both teams shot it well from 3, rebounds, turnovers, everything was about even. Physicality was there on both sides. It was a really great college basketball game back and forth.

The only disparity were the FT's: 20/29 to 8/9. Both teams foul a TON with high rates. Hurley has talked about this many times. I was very surprised they got whistled only 3 times in the second half before the intentional.

True, UConn was going to do the same thing because a team that plays just as physically as we do, had fouls to give in the last 10 seconds before it hit the bonus. Cannot make it up.

Reed hooks on offense and literally pushed the screener je was covering into the dribbler every time. Multiple times with two hands in front of his body and in front of the ref. It is not even subtle. He had how many fouls?

The replay on it wasn’t black and white.

Demary made contact on his hip with his body but had yet to wrap up of fully extend his hands.

Budd was trying to be savvy and was a second too early.

it doesn’t excuse the rest of the foul discrepancy but I don’t think that was a foul after seeing the replay.

Another thing that was not mentioned was how very early in the game how Hurly did not get a T arguing a call . If that was Sha he would have got T for far less.

It been happening forever. The elite coaches have their way with the refs.

Hurley bitches most ever game after a loss about the refs. Notice he wasn't bitching yesterday.

Even Donny Marshall was saying how often we were getting downhill and not getting a whistle. That was maybe with out 3 mins left even.

Staton-McCray was getting hammered going to the rim and nothing, which is why that call at :53 was so obnoxious. Even Fisher got thudded up good by Karaban before draining that jumper late. When Clark whiffed on that baseline shot with :40 left he looked hit too but idk. Very obvious things at that end then they miss the intentional foul. 😂

Look it happens. Officials impact games and are human. I just don’t know what we could’ve done better so it wasn’t an issue, which you can point to most games. Maybe it’s the 3PT run they had after we went up 8? Tough loss.

on the play when they did call the foul, marshall said that was probably the least contact a shu guy felt on a drive.

Reminded me of the play in the NCAA tournament when Desi gave a touch foul on purpose and the ref called it a flagrant. Outrageous.

Refs need to have a feel for the game. In that situation, UCONN is clearly giving fouls. Budd is clearly trying to angle shoot. Unless you have zero doubt that Budd released it before getting fouled, or that Silas committed a foul in the act of shooting, just call the obvious thing. Foul on the floor and play on.

Should’ve been called a foul, but it didn’t determine the outcome

That is the problem The refs are clueless never mind having a feel for the game . Out of all the major conferences the Big East refs are by far the worst !!!

Not sure why they called Budd for a foul on that play. I was irate. So I played it back quickly on my DVR in the moment.

And you see ASM reach in from behind and make contact directly on the wrist, causing the ball to leave his hands the way it did. It’s the second of two replays they show. The first looks like an absolute bail out call by the officials. The second angle you see this. But the announcers did such a poor job that they didn’t even comment on it.

Game is 40 minutes not 37
3 bad minutes did them in
They just cant play with a lead. Can anyone explain this?
We lost the lead, then AJs fts gave us the lead with a minute left, and then they called the bogus call on budd. If that call not made, our ball with the lead and 50 seconds.

Losing the lead sucked but uconn is kinda good and karaban hitting a 3 aint surprising and the frosh hits and in and out around the rim 3. As I remember, AJ took a good shot and missed and budd passed to an open mike in the cirner and he missed.

Not really surprised with the foul disparity with the way BE officiating has controlled the narratives of so many games this season. Most egregious was the and 1 that Fisher made in the first half when they called a travel instead. The ref closest to the play clearly called a foul but was overruled for some reason.

I wonder when the last time a Hurley coached team played such a physical game & only had 2 unintentional fouls called against them in the second half.
