No way they are the best team in the state. Naz handed the game to them. Evans is amazing, but a 1 man show doesn't get it done in 7or 8a.

Naz needs to learn to stop blocking when their running back is 10 yards past them. Football 101.

I'd be a little pissed off with your "one man show" comment if I were a PR offensive lineman. Give the team/kids some credit.

They won the 6a championship - and won 28 straight. Fabulous accompaniment. But they are not the best team in the state. That’s what this thread is about - are they or aren’t they? I think no.

And Crusader I don’t think a single kid on that team gives a damn. Pretty hard to win B2B.

Why be on a message board if you can’t express opinions?

You just don’t want to hear what you don’t believe.

I just think it’s pretty sad right after a team wins a state title - second in a row that the first post is about how they aren’t that good.

It screams of sour grapes.

They can’t do a whole lot more than win every game on their schedule.

Maybe they aren’t the best but again it doesn’t mean a damn thing to these kids. Opinions are nice but a little ill timed coming immediately after the game.

This is a real-time world, thus the demise of print journalism.

Edgy made his statements, making the topic fair game for discussion.

You recently blathered about everyone getting title and calling folks snowflakes ... that’s rich when you have the same level of understanding of others’ points of view as hhs!

Never said they weren't good. They have a great team, and a really great player. Just saying they're not the best team in the state.
Also saying that the Naz coaching staff has a lot of work to do.
And yes, Edgy brought it up in the post game, so it's not sour grapes. Plus, I had no dog in the fight.

I didn’t say I agree with this post nor did I say disagree either. I just find it funny a notoriously catholic school poster puts this up within minutes after a catholic school losing.

From what I’m seeing in this 7A game PR coukd beat both of these team

Don’t think so. PR strength is running the ball. LZ strength is stuffing the run. Teams that will beat LZ will beat them thru the air. Man I shudder to think what NC or NN passing offenses would do to LZ passing D.

I think PR definitely the best team last year. I think defenses did catch up to them a bit this year and I still think they are a top 3 team overall in the State this year.

Yeah PR should be proud of what they accomplished. Lwe is #1 This year though and it's not close

Congrats to all winners... after watching, I gotta agree with Feeto.

PR is very good, but I don’t see them as any higher than MAYBE 5 in the state. LWE definitely number 1... we can argue til cows come home a healthy MS or healthy LA are 2/3 in whatever order... then Phillips/Batavia ...

I could be wrong of course.

Not to sound like those crazy guys who think that winning is everything, but if you don't win the state championship, no one will remember number 2, 3 or whomever next year. I recognize all the great efforts, finishes and accomplishments by all these great teams though. The will have better perspective the older they get.

If you’re not right you’re close enough so that nobody could really come up with a solid argument against that.

He is not say that. Instead, he correctly said that PR is not the best team in the state.

Huh? That's exactly what he said. "Naz handed the game to them."

Not sure how that statement can be taken any other way except Greatgig's interpretation of the statement as "...they (PR) shouldn’t have won because Naz beat themselves." I'd be curious as to what other interpretation one could come to form a statement that "Naz handed the game to them" other than "Naz beat themselves".

Moreover, to call PR a "one man show" is laughable. I challenge the OP to say that to Jeff Jenkins' face.

Is it possible or even likely that the 7A or 8A champ is better than the 6A champ? Of course. Sorry, but that's sort of a "Captain Obvious statement", it's exactly why we have a system from 1A up through 8A based on enrollment (larger pool of players to work with) and move those that dominate at one level up based on "multipliers". I mean, that's the whole system. Unless I'm missing something as I'm not on this board that much, it's like belittling Clemson's championship last year by saying they weren't that great because Alabama just beat themselves in the championship, and besides Clemson's not that great as the Patriots would kill them.

Yes, the team at higher levels are generally better. It does't belittle a team's chamionship at their own level.

So is LT or was it Mount Carrmel, I can't remember which is your team currently, better than PR?

I guess we should put an asterisk next to PR’s state title. * They shouldn’t have won because Naz beat themselves.

Last week, the NAZ fan's seemed delighted with Edgy picking them to win....I'm sure they got a trophy for that.

Phillips is #2 guys. I know I'm jumping the dsrs a little bit but it still goes back to 1 thing no one seems to remember:

A 3A school in Phillips beat an 8A school in Loyola. Boy will I have some fun with this.

Let’s keep everything in perspective. This was a game played by 15 to 18 year olds. To say that Naz handed the game to PR is disrespectful to both teams. Everyone on that field played that game to win. Were mistakes made? Sure. Each boy that was called for a penalty knew the rules before the game started. If you break a rule there is a consequence. A life lesson that they should already be aware of. The fact is these were 2 teams that deserved to be playing Saturday. It was a great game. We should not be teaching our youth that their lives are dependent on how they play one game. We’ve already messed things up enough by them ALL receiving trophies up until now! There should not be any buts.

I don't blame the kids for the dumb penalties, I blame the coaches. Football 101 covers not chasing your own ball carrier when he's 10 yards past everyone and then throwing an unnecessary block. Lack of discipline by the coaching staff is why Naz lost.

jumping off sides twice on the first drive isn't a coaching issue....
