I'm not even from Amherst but I love the program and the pride that they have. I'm very happy to see them having a good year. Congrats Lancers.
I did predict the score 41-35 just had the wrong team winning...Brookville was hammering Amherst early with all 11 defensive players in the box for Brookville..Amherst really started throwing the ball around In 2nd half to comeback from a 28-14 deficit mid 3rd qt..
I feel there is a shared community thread between Amherst and Salem. Friday night means football in both places and you know where everyone is going to be. I cheer for them because I know how important football is to them and especially for WIKKI!
Snookasuperstar I told people the talent level in the past at Amherst wasn't good and the class starting with the Juniors would be the most explosive group the coach has had maybe since his 1st year..He took the seniors off of the field after the 1st game and giving the young guys a chance..
I am so happy right now, one of the best games in a long time. We were down 35-19 and scored a td and went for two and got it and then scored again to tie. With about 35 seconds left Amherst threw a pass, unbelievable. They never gave up, instead they played their hearts out in the 4th
I did dance in the stands and so did most of the fans, we had a blast.
I know the Sophomore led JV squad had some really good talent this year. Already looking forward to Amherst @ Salem next fall!
Congrats to the Lancers and Wiki, whose knickers are in such a knot right now, it may take till Tuesday to get them off. But I doubt she cares. Well done!
Not yet but it was a good win...Brookville did throw for 350 yards aganist Amherst,so they need to fix that...
They can beat JF also. JF looked really suspect on defense last night and got away with one. Amherst still has some tough games ahead though. Should be fun to watch.

From what I understand, that state game had in attendance over 14,000 fans and still holds the record at LU for a high school game to this date

One guy from Brookville said in another post that Amherst would be lucky if they scored 10 points. I responded back how did 42 sound? We scored 25 in one quarter
42 against the much vaunted Brookville defense and the "best DB's in the State". I realize this is one game, one time but it sure shows a lot of Amherst fight. Win or lose, I'll take that any day in a team. GL in the rest of 2015.Sorry but it the Louisa/Amherst state game

I think it hurt momentum wise being that JF came out and scored on the first play after the break but who knows... They looked like they played hard all night... One costly turnover unfortunately sealed their fate. It was back and forth without many big plays and their defense really kept them in the game.
I'm taking Amherst over JF this week 49-47... Amherst loses to Appo & Rustburg though, sorry.

Wow..I can see a combine score of 100 but that would be a disappointment to beat Brookville and J.F and lose to Rustburg and Appo,nothing against those 2 teams though..
I honestly think Brookville will beat JF too but with that said I just think Rustburg & Appo have good enough defenses to beat Amherst. Rburgs 3 losses came to 3 teams with only 1 loss all together being Brookville this past Friday. They're a lot better than the record shows. And Appomattox... Well that defense is just nasty.
I saw J.F play this year and I just don't see what some posters see in them..Onereddevil4 you seem like you're not a big fan of J.F either..I do think Appo is the best team in the area and very underrated along with Rustburg..Like I said you beat Brookville and if you beat J.F,you have to win the last 2 games to keep those young guys in Amherst rolling....People in Amherst hate the fact that Appo is even on the schedule..If you win you suppose to win and Appo will be pump for that game..
Yup, Appomatox is good. Rustburg too, although they have so many two way kids they run out of gas like they did against Brookville. You just can't play that hard hitting a game all night without it making a difference in the second half.
Regardless, Amherst got a big boost last week. I see good things for them this season. GL to the Lancers (and Wikki).
True about the two way players... but they do hit hard... 7 the QB plays two ways and returns kicks. He will be a handful next year, especially if his passing improves. But I can't remember a time, even when I played that most the skill players on offense didn't play defense as well.
Actually some people are glad to be playing Appomattox instead of Lake Taylor
