He absolutely will not be here anylonger than 43 years.

I guess we may as well start looking now.

after he's on the cover of the SI preseason edition talking about State challenging for the west? I mean, will we collapse in a discharge of estrogen like our friends up the road?

I hope not.

...is probably going to bea number of years, mainly because Megan really likes where they are. Also, the hype of Mississippi last year was way out of bounds for what they had in talent. If Mullen's team gets that sort of hype, I expect the talent to be there to justify.

1) Continue to recruit solid classes. We have playmakers in every class, but we have to work at our classes getting deeper from the top rated player we sign to the least rated player. If he can bump us into perennial Top 20 recruiting classes, that will really help out the talent level here.

2) We have to maintain a position as one of theTop 6 in the SEC on a consistent basis. We have to stay competitive and push Auburn, Bama, LSU, and Florida every year. If we bust out a big seasonin the next few years and continue to improve every year, he may want to stay.

I personally think with the strength in the West as of right nowit will take another 3 years of Mullen to get us a legit shot to win the West. Bama is very talented, LSU is always talented and always beats us, Arkansas usually has good football teams, and Auburn does as well. Auburn will go cliff diving next year if Cam leaves because they will have almost no starters returning, so we should be able to pass them up in the pecking order of the SEC next year.

Your first point is the main reason I'm not worried about places like Minnesota and Colorado. I understand the difficulties of recruiting here with the small population and the large amount of competition but I think that is a bit easier to overcome than the need to recruit region and nation-wide at the aforementioned places without the benefits of name recognition or conference affiliation.

If he left for them, I can't say that I blame him but it would not be that bad for us. It would not be nearly as bad if he side stepped us for someone like UGA.

Similar to USC plus bowl ban, will be a nonfactor in the SEC West for the next 4-5 years.</p>

I don't think it will take 3 years to contend for the west. We're one dropped interception away from being 8-1 and tied for 1st place in the West. We've done this with NO passing game.

My biggest concern about next season is left tackle. If we can overcome losing Sherrod I think we'll be really good.

and you need to look at what the other SECW schools are losing after this season. Sure, Sherrod will be a loss and so will White, but relatively speaking, we lose a lot less in terms of contributors than Auburn, LSU, Bama and Arkansas.

After seeing the Rich Rodriguez experiment in the Big 10, I don't think you'll see any other teams following suit by changing to the spread. That's just not the style of football they play in that conference. Also, it's been noted several times that the only reason that Greg Schiano has not left Rutgers fora high profile coaching gig is that he is supposed to have already been hand picked as the next coach at Penn State, whichwould seem to be an ideal fit.Besides, afterhaving aniconfor so many years with a loveable old man'sdemeanor like Paterno, I thinkPSU would be shell shocked withsomeone as brash and straight forward as Mullen as their head coach......would not be a good marriage at all.

we are only 2 years into the Dan Mullen era and even right now, without the benefit of a wealth of talent at all positions, the only thing keeping us from being an upper echelon team is an elite QB and maybe one more real playmaker at WR. So no, I don't think it will be another 3 years before we can compete for the West either. If Russell matures into a big time SEC QB (or if Prescott is big time) and we add guys like Brassell and Singleton to our WR corps then I think it could happen quite soon indeed.
