Great wolf lodge - grapevine OT

The first time we went, it was a lot, but my kids had fun. The 2nd time we went, it was a lot, and the kids had fun. The third time we went, I justified $8 beer numerous times, it wasn’t fun (but I smiled through it all) and my kids had fun. Should it be brought up again, I’ll probably tell my wife and kids to go have fun, but I got a “thing”
Took the kids a few months ago and they loved it. Honestly, I didn’t hate it. Got hammered every day at the indoor water park, rarely had to leave the hotel (ate a lot of the in-house pizza), and wasted hours of my life following my 6 year old all over the hotel because of that damn magic wand game. The magic game sucks.
Been a few years but was fine for 2 nights but I don’t think I could handle more than that. Went to the one in GA though. The magic game scavenger hunt thing was actually my favorite part. I hate waterparks and being inside made it 100x worse. But the kids had fun.
Damn, apparently it burned down last fall. When I was last in it, I was thinking “this thing could really burn down easily”Only Wolf Lodge I go to
Couple of questions
What is the sweet spot age for the kids? Mine are 8 and 11.
We already have season passes every year for geyser falls, how does the waterpark stack up? It looks smaller than most and I get that it's indoors so could be cool in the offseason.
Are they all equally as fun. The one in Georgia would be the closest for us.

Your kids are the perfect age for it. Go during the winter. They will love it. I had a really good time with my kids.

If you stayed at the one in LaGrange the next exit north off of the interstate is the largest liquor store I have ever been in. I was in town for business, not the park. Inexpensive too. Bought a fifth of Woodford for under 40 bucks.
FYI, food and beer are pretty expensive there. We took our own beer and had in a cooler at the water park. I know the rules say you can't have your own but they never checked. You can walk around anywhere with a drink in hand following the kids around doing the magic quest
That place looks like a complete nightmare to me. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who have a blast there, and more power to them. My kids have made it to this point without realizing it even exists, so I'm not sure if I'll ever be at the Great Wolf Lodge crossroads, but time will tell.
We went once when some friends came to town. It was completely last minute and during their spring break, so it cost a ton. But, my son had a good time…. When we left, I couldn’t breathe for about a day from all the chlorine smell in that joint.
Only thing that sets it apart is that it’s indoors. Hurricane Harbor is WAY better, but it’s all outdoor with no hotel attached. There’s even an indoor park in Grand Prairie I’ve heard good things about, and it’s significantly cheaper.
The Gaylord near GWL is pretty underwhelming, too. Especially compared to the one in Nashville that has to be 2-3 times bigger. Grapevine is a nice town, but their “mega resorts” don’t blow me away.

Yeah. Only in the winter and even then it's just clammy.
I did take the kids to Silver Mountain last year between Spokane and Missoula. Indoor water park at a ski resort. It seemed a lot less chlorineish and humid. Maybe just the cold thin air outside helped. That lazy river felt really nice on the old legs after a long day on the slopes.
If you go during the summer stay across the street at Gaylord and do a day pass for Great Wolf. It will give you 2 Water parks and Gaylord is a much better hotel. Gaylord accepts Marriott points if you are a Marriott guy. If you go in Winter do Great Wolf. I absolutely loathe that dang magic wand game but kids love it and when old enough it's safe to turn em loose on their own.
Great Wolf is kid focused and somewhat adult friendly. Gaylord is more adult focused and kid friendly. Normal outdoor pool at Gaylord is pretty cool too.

And it takes 2 damn hours to get a slice of pizza or a beer.
I cannot un-recommend busy season enough.
