Hey Greg, check out Mo Bamba’s run at Texas. A scorching 19-15 and next to last finish in the Big 12. Yawn.......

Many superstar kids don’t care about going to blue bloods anymore. They only plan on being there for 9 months and not 4 years like the old days. If a kid is a lottery pick he is a lottery pick at Texas/Washington/Memphis or Kentucky/Duke.

Now kids see a better shot of being a high pick if they can be THE man and constantly showcase their skills.

Do you really think Edwards at UGA was miserable because his team lost more than they won? He got his two or three spectacular plays a game on the highlight reels and scored his 20 a game. He got to play in front of his family 20 times and his family was probably well compensated and happy as well.

Yep. Edwards is going to have a net worth of about $50 million in a couple months and be the #1 pick despite going to freaking UGA.

Obviously I agree going to UK is a better option for elites but he is going to be just fine regardless.

Would be nice to get him, but it’s not happening.

He would play the 5 for us and he thinks he’s a 3.
He wouldn't play 1 minute at the 5 for us but he also wouldn't play more then 3-4 minutes a game at the 3 either. He is a pure college 4 in this day and age. I promise you if he goes to UT he is the 4 there too. He is like Ware ( better of coarse ) but similar games.

As long as EJ comes back we have our 2 centers . We could use a 6'8 230 type pf type who could play a little center too maybe though like Sestina did . But either Cal feels good about someone we haven't heard in the grad transfer market or Banchero as he doesn't seem to be too active in the market.

Been a ton of "look at me UK" posts on Instragram and Twitter. Feels like he's trying to get attention on his announcement. Hate that kids do this in this day and age.

You’re absolutely right. The top kids don’t need the Kentucky’s, Kansas, or any other blueblood. They’re gonna be rich regardless. Just doesn’t make sense to me that why not have both for their one year in college. Why not go where you can possibly go to a Final Four or win a championship and make the most of your one year. Guess some kid’s just want to be a big fish in a little pond.

It’s beyond painfully obvious that recent (past several years) recruiting decisions have zero, nada, to do with ANYTHING associated with winning ANYTHING for the fans, the university, or frankly, themselves!

Almost no one is ashamed anymore to openly ask for benefits above and beyond a full ride scholarship! That puts UK at a huge disadvantage!

Well players are much better prepared for the NBA coming from UK. Ask Pat Riley of the Magic. Lots of proven mentors to help once you get to UK. The support system of former UK players in the pros is invaluable along with the best daily competition and proven coaching. If you go pro early be prepared as best you can to stick in the NBA. UK guarantees that part.

I sure would look at that and I think Mr Brown realizes it. I think Greg picks UK

Wrong. He is a 3, he doesn't THINK he is, he literally is a 3 and his dad is making that clear. If there is one school he can do that successfully its Kentucky because Cal and UK truly do play positionless basketball. The NBA and college have changed. Guys like Durant are the norm now. Greg is going to play 3, or 3/4. But again, Kentucky doesn't do like other schools. That's why Kentucky has demonstrated for a decade that we can play 3 point guards on the floor at the same
time. Cal will figure it out. But don't discard Greg coming to UK because he is 6'-10"

Which is why he isn’t coming.

Dude doesn’t fit what we need. We need a 5.

Smart will play him wherever he wants to play.

Most are missing my point.

We need a big man and everyone wants this guy, but he is another wing.

We don’t need him unless he wants to play the 5.

True. But sadly it doesn't look like many options of a big are out there right now.Maybe if the transfer rule happens but I'm not sure they will do it next season.

Our big man options are (in order of best case scenario):

1. Montgomery returns- slim chance.
2. Banchero reclassifies and chooses UK- also a slim chance.
3. Transfer rule changes and we sign a solid P5 level big man- slim chance, but better than the two above.
4. Greg Brown signs with UK and is okay with playing in the post- probably the slimmest chance.
5. Grad transfer- good chance, but probably is a mid-major talent and will have little impact other than being a role player.

I think reality might be Jackson and Ware splitting time in the post. They should provide some defense and rebounding. Hopefully, we won’t need much offense with the wing scorers we have. Brooks provides some inside scoring as well. Maybe we add a grad transfer to back up Brooks, Jackson, and Ware at the 4/5.

Not getting my hopes up that a Reid Travis type will land in our laps again.
