IF you can recruit to a team that only one 2 games this year, you can probably recruit to NU. RRod had a horrible year. His offense finally played well against ASU to end the year but man they were bad. Before NU landing Williams Zona had the 14th ranked class nationally according to Rivals.

We need this kid badly. I think he's going to be a hell of a DB wherever he goes.

247 crystal ball predictions in our favor now. Three of the predictions came from local guys though. Any idea what position we are recruiting him for?

"During his official visit in October, the staff told Johnson they have plans for him on both sides of the ball. Greg spent time with both Keith Williams and Brian Stewart."

This is amazing news! A large number of predictions on 247Sports are saying he's coming to us now so that he can stick with Williams. On top of that, we're starting to see more N's for Joseph Lewis, probably in no small part because Lewis and Johnson go to the same high school in California and probably want to play together. This is shaping up to be an EXCELLENT recruiting class; if we landed both Lewis and Johnson, as well as Daniels, Calvin, and a random assortment of other high quality talent for DB and LB (and we have an outside shot at Foster Sarrell too!), this is easily going to be a top 15 class. That's great news, because we absolutely need talent of this caliber to compete during our brutal 2018 schedule when a lot of these kids will be redshirt freshmen/sophomores.

Exciting! Let's see what we can land!

Oh, and is anyone completely certain as to how many total kids we're taking this year? I heard 22-23, but possibly all the way up to 25.

Riley has stated 22 but said it could move up or down. I have to think there's a shot at 25 if we get lucky on some of these big names. Last year's class was talented and mostly redshirted. This year's class looks to be very talented. I think Riley should have at least 4 more years until his first class is all seniors (since many of them redshirted) before we make any claims one way or the other.

I think the only thing we've been missing is high caliber talent, and it looks like we have the coaching staff to start landing big enough recruits that we should be fine. This class is very much looking like a top 15 class if everything pans out, and maybe even top 10. We haven't done that since Bill Callahan landed a great class, right? And that is all it is going to take (consistently landing top 15 classes) to start really kicking *** again.

20 scholarships open simply from expired eligibility. So I expect at least 23 because you can oversign 3.

There will be at least 3 that don't come back because they graduated with eligibility remaining, lack playing time or intentionally buried on depth chart.

B Joseph
D Johnson
Z Hannon
A Taylor
L Gifford
S King or A Natter
Maybe P Newell.

the Bubba Starling class of 2011 was ranked 16 by 24/7 and 15 by rivals, IIRC. But that class was marked by a big no-show in Bubba, riddled with transfers (Green, Moore Klachko) and a bust or two (Peat).

The last 4 better not go anywhere. I think they are counting on some snaps from those guys.
