Very good article and it explains what some have been trying to say over the years. Cultural fit- which includes true student athletes who want to be a part of Rutgers and not just chasing $$$. He made a good point too, if you read between the lines- if you start to bring in the wrong fit for football reasons only, their chase of the NIL $$$ may have them in the locker room getting into the ear of others that may decide to make the wrong decision based on $ only because the new kid is in the shiny new car and big bling.
I am not sure if GS can get to the Championship but he is the right guy to have here right now.

He has a history of making NFL players out of three and two stars guys. Proper training is everything.

Or was he just good at finding 2 star players that we NFL guys but no one else had the chance to see them in the early 2000’s? Either way- good job

He’s still doing it. He understands talent evaluation when dealing with highschool kids. Has he beaten Ohio State who is always loaded with five stars yet? No, but the improvement shows.

This staff has done well overall with keeping commits in the fold but one of the ones we lost, Chase Linton, might be the best evidence that they're strong evaluators. IIRC we were his first P4 offer and he was a 3* when he committed to us - by the end of the cycle he was in the top 100 nationally. Alas, always going to be tough to hang onto anyone a blue blood decides they want him, but start collecting enough players the next notch below that level and you're in business.

I don't think Coach Schiano should be talking about championships until we stop getting blown out every single year (that we play them) by Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.

What exactly do you think he should he have said instead in that situation? He was being questioned about the success he’s had in his return in guiding Rutgers out of the basement - remember the “can we please just suck normal” era? Greg was being asked about the turnaround. Would you prefer for him to say - well we’re happy with where we are?
