My adaptive cruise has 3 settings for when it's activated.
And even the closest leaves WAY too much space between you and the car in front of you. You'll have people pulling in front of you and the system will brake you down and follow too far behind that car until the next car pulls in front of you.

The biggest problem with adaptive cruise control is that it doesnt let you get close enough to the car in front of you to indicate that they need to get over (if they are half a human and understand that concept).
Now that is true. Another problem with that is it doesn't let you get close enough to prevent others in the right lane from jumping into the gap between you.

Two postulates of highway dynamics:

1. Magnetic Principal - All vehicles are attracted to each other. Examples - a) Whether in a loney parking lot. another car will park next to you even though the lot is empty. b) A car will approach and stay close behind you (see above) c) Cars will line up in the left lane for no apparent reason even when the right lane is empty.
On part c:, one place I have seen this happen every single time, is driving from the MS Coast to Mobile on I10. The number of diesel trucks on the interstate and sheer numbers of cars forces everyone into the left lane. If you don't stay in the left lane and move to the right you'll never be able to get back over to pass someone slow in front of you, which will happen every couple of minutes.

Ok , who’s never done this. You’re second at a long red light. Driver of first car is obviously not paying attention, on cell phone, putting on makeup, or just generally oblivious. You carefully check both ways crossing to make sure nothing is coming and just give the horn a quick honk. Oblivious driver hits the gas and runs the red light and then stares in the rear view as you just sit there.

Or, they think you obviously must be about to deliver a road-rage killing of unmerciful power, so they high-tail it out of there with RPMs into the red zone.

Driving on a four lane and you see a driver coming up on your rear at a good rate of speed. They catch you……. And slow down riding your tail. Never make the pass. And stay there for miles. Even after me clicking down a couple mph. Infuriating
This happened to me on the way back to Jackson from a State game several weeks ago. I'm riding the right lane at a pretty good clip and this guy comes up from behind and just sits in my blind spot. Rides there in my blindspot for like 10-15 miles before I decide to slow down and let him pass.

The guy slows down and attempts to not pass me. Finally I'm going about 45 on HWY 25 and he relents and passes. He never again goes the speed we were going. But bump that, he's not winning. I rode 65 right behind him the whole way home.

Isn't "brake checking" illegal? Of course, so is tailgating.
If you are on my @$$, you are creating a major safety issue for me and you. My lights are gonna remind you often that you are too close. Of course i'm not gonna slam on brakes b/c then i'm creating a much more dangerous situation for myself (if you are tailgating me, i don't care about your situation but i do care about mine).

I need more info. Are you in the right lane or the left?

I call those people "highway remoras" like the fish that follow around sharks for a free meal.
When I drove the trace a lot, these people would drive me crazy. They’ll ride your *** from 45mph to 75mph but absolutely refuse to pass you

This could be someone using adaptive cruise control....which brings me to my least favorite thing about adaptive cruise control, it does nothing to notify you that you've slowed down behind another vehicle. I just want it to turn the speedometer yellow or something when it's slowing me down, because I hate being out there driving and I have it set on 75 or so and I look down and realize I've been doing 65 behind a truck for I don't know how long.

I hate these jacklegs. You're in the right lane, they come up behind you in the left lane and squat right in your blind spot, and eventually run you into the back of whatever car is in front of you. You then either have to stomp it and jump in front of them to pass the car, or break the cruise and slow way down while they pass you so you can get over and pass as well.

That, and people that ride my *** in the left lane while I'm passing an 18 wheeler. I'm not going to cut off the big rig by jumping back in the right lane immediately in front of it, but as soon as I get far enough in front to get over, the tailgater behind me will jump in the right lane and come screaming past on the right, often shooting a dirty look or a finger. Even if I signal that I'm intending to get over as I pass the semi, they don't care, as soon as they have a space they'll do it and cause the 18 wheeler to hit the brakes. I've had multiple 18 wheeler drivers tell me that's their biggest peeve, when someone passes them and immediately gets in front of them instead of going on ahead a few lengths before moving over.

I've got a theory about corner panel drivers especially on Mississippi. Some people here buy cars they can't afford. When the car is about to be repossessed they attempt to get in accidents so they call Richard Swartz, sue, pay the car off and have some additional cash for fun time.
