...that would send Rudy Gay, and Shawn Marion to Phoenix , Stoudamire to Miami, and Beasely to Memphis. Beasley/mayo would be a tough duo to handle over the next few years

The Shaq trade was a bust. Now they are stuck with his contract and Nash getting up there in age(35). With the addition of Rudy Gay and Marion maybe they will get back to the up tempo game that was fun to watch

I think Stoudamire wants out of there as well. I would have loved for the Grizzlies to have been able to trade for him, but I am glad they didnt do it since there was no guarantee he would have resigned after next season. If they could have gotten an extension along with the trade I would have been all for it. With that being said, I would love to be able to get Beasley on the team

but i don't think phoenix gets any better with that deal. with nash and shaq nearing the end of their career, i would think stoudemire would be an outstanding player to keep as the core for your future. i guess getting gay and marion is an attempt to win now, before nash and shaq are done. the problem i see is that i don't think those two are more valuable than stoudemire. i guess they are wing-slashers (ha) that will complement shaq's game moreso than stoudemire did.

good deal for memphis - getting beasley would add a scoring threat at PF. like you said, mayo and beasley could be a dangerous duo for a long time, and should be a better combo than mayo/gay.

i think this is a great deal for miami. marion never seemed right down there, and they can get rid of his big contract. beasley is a very good young player, but stoudemire is an elite player, and he's only 26. i think you have a better chance of building a winner around stoudemire than you do around beasley.

Beasley hasn't looked like anything that special for most of the season, and really, showed no signs that he'd be more than a 15 and 7 guy. Not bad, but not worth giving up Rudy Gay for. However, when he got taken out of the starting line up, something clicked, and he's torn it up a few times recently. He had a good January in particular. I'll miss the big Gay dunks, but this could work out.

How young can the Grizzlies get exactly? They are going to be trying to check draft picks into a game pretty soon.

He is averaging 13 ppg, in 24 mpg. I think he could do well given the playing time. And like I said earlier, I am not convinced gay is going to sign back here when his contract is up. The grizzlies are young, but they said last year they were going on a 3 year rebuilding plan. To have Gasol, Mayo, Conley, and Beasley all locked up for the next few years, they could add a few more pieces and be a pretty good team in the next couple of years

i thought i remembered hearing that, but i could be making that up. what does their starting lineup look like before/after the trade (if it goes through)? were they going to bench conley if mayo moved to PG?

From Draft Express:
In recent weeks, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has removed Beasley from the starting line-up and has began using him as a scoring punch off the bench. During this time, Beasley has averaged ten fewer minutes per game, but is still putting up the same per game averages.

That's sort of what I was getting at. Since being moved out of the starting line up and losing some minutes, it's like somebody lit a fire and he's been playing much better. Definitely showing the potential to put up bigger numbers with more minutes. The problem was at the beginning of the season when he was getting those minutes but not putting up better numbers. At least he shows the potential now.

Conley, Mayo, Arthur, Beasley, Gasol?

Holy ****. Gasol would be the oldest at 24.

There has been talk about it. Ever since Hoillins has taken over Conley has stepped it up though. I think decent coaching will help Conley a lot. I am not ready to give up on him yet, though if he doesnt work out you always can put mayo there. I like Mayo at SG right now.

Before the trade we have

Conley
Mayo
Gay
Darko/Arthur
Gasol

Warrick(6th)

After trade

Conley
Mayo
Beasley
Darko/Arthur
Gasol

And I am sure there would be another player thrown in

According to espn.com, the Raptors sent Jamario Moon and Jermaine O'Neal to the Heat for Marcus Banks and Shawn Marion

...and the only reason the Grizz didn't do a straight up trade for Stoudamire is because Memphis didn't want to trade Gay, so I doubt the three way trade works. Of course, if I can acquire Amare Stoudamire and it's going to cost me Gay, Warrick, and maybe Conley, I still have to think long and hard about it.

The only way I would even think about trading those 3 guys away for Stoudamire is if he agrees to an extension before he comes here. Without an extension there is no way in hell I give all 3 of them away for a 1 1/2 year rental

That lineup would be four rookies and a 2nd year player. Hilarious...

I don't know that that's ever been done before in the history of the league.
