Gentlemen, to mark my (not so)grand return to posting on the Pack, after somehow successfully graduating and moving on to the new career gig I've been busy with since April,I would like to post a couple thoughts about sports headlines of the summer and my view of the state of our university....
1. The epic failure of the Heat and the well deserved title for the Mavericks made for a great storylinethat created some of the best buzz the NBA has seen since the Jordan Era......only to totallybotch all momentum by the blundering of the now current Lockout(that I forsee cutting into the reg. season).
2. I feel the Atlanta Braves are officially back(seriously), they've got the real horses to make a run in the playoffs....but I do not see them winning the division....but from the multiple games I've seen, I beleive Gonzalez will have these guys prepared for a deep October run.
3. College baseball is not my most educated topic...and thats why I choose to respectfully not post about it here, but the recent success Our team at the end of the season provided some great excitement. I could see this being the breakthrough to our consistency year to year again.
4. I always said in regards to the NFL lockout that this would be resolved by June because both sides would have something done before OTAs and training camp.....they in fact made me look like a dumbass...but the closure of the Lockout just in time proves the good Lord is a football fan first...because the two sides could not have been any further apart in June.
5. And last guys....my perception of our university and programs....I could not be more excited to be apart of Our university. From academics, to alumni, and athletics...I feel we are exceeding in all areas. There is a lot I could say here, but to sum it up the best way I know how is say it is like this..."You know you got it, when They areup there trying to immulate it". And we all know who "They" are.
Gents....the long summer stretch of meaningless sports news is all but over, and Football is knocking on the door. And I'm pretty damn excited. Thoughts?
