People in most of the state don't understand just how little connection NE Mississippi has to Jackson.I’ve lived in Mississippi for 59 years. I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve gone to Jackson, definitely could count on both hands. I’m talking about going there for a particular reason, not just passing through headed elsewhere. There’s nothing in Jackson for Ms residents much less outsiders.
Right. I go to Tupelo, Birmingham, or Memphis much more than JacksonPeople in most of the state don't understand just how little connection NE Mississippi has to Jackson.
This demonstrates your fundamental lack of understanding. We all realize there is not much of a direct tie from Jackson to Tupelo. The issue that most bring up here, regarding you and other NEMS folks who trash Jackson, is that we ALL need Jackson to do well, if you care about the state as a whole. And more specifically, how that ties into MSU's growth. That's the point.People in most of the state don't understand just how little connection NE Mississippi has to Jackson.
Your fundamental lack of understanding is Northeast Mississippi just isn't connected to Jackson at all, in any way, (other than the state government) and the rest of the state has always been fine with that. If we don't care about the rest of the state, it's the rest of the state's fault. The road net was the prime example. The road connection to Jackson until fairly recently was the dang Natchez Trace, a two-lane, low speed, federal built National Parkway. Our economic, medical, recreational, and transportation ties are to Memphis and Birmingham, not Jackson. Most people here also go to Nashville a lot more than they do Jackson. Most people here never even think about Jackson at all, unless the state government screws something up. Tupelo is the defacto capitol of its own region by default. This demonstrates your fundamental lack of understanding. We all realize there is not much of a direct tie from Jackson to Tupelo. If you only care about your small area up there, or if you do not believe that Jackson is key to MS, then.......well, I can't help you. Because without Jackson doing well, the best the state can hope for is for those select few areas (already discussed in this thread) to tread water while the rest of the state loses population.
Duh. Like I said in the previous post, we all understand this.Your fundamental lack of understanding is Northeast Mississippi just isn't connected to Jackson at all, in any way, (other than the state government) and the rest of the state has always been fine with that. Well, the rest of the state didn't care about MSU either. It had the same exact road problem.Duh. Like I said in the previous post, we all understand this.
It does suck that you don't care about the rest of the state of MS. The whole state affects MSU, not just the Tupelo region. We should all be concerned about the entirety of the state, but I'm not surprised that so many of you aren't. That is why we are where we are.
Last time I check, MSU is the reason we are all on this message board. Not Tupelo or anywhere else.
Fair enough, and that's the depressing part. MSU would do better if the state did better (I mean we are literally adopting 'State' as our primary marketing campaign). And since it's not, we have to look outside the state. And you know you already does that to a wildly successful degree? That's right, our potnas to the northwest. They have around 57% vs. our 37%, per google. They've been executing their plan for years, whatever it is.Well, the rest of the state didn't care about MSU either.
We need something, because I honestly don't know what the 17 we are doing. The university continues to grow, mainly by way of being an SEC school. All I see on here is people complaining that they didn't recruit their kid correctly for academics, or that we never waive out-of-state tuition for such and such, so I'd like to hear some success stories if there are any, as far as what our university priorities are.We need a development boardthis stuff is just as interesting to me as sports.
GOAT deserves a ton of $h!t but this aint it.Makes sense. I would expect a stinky old pu$sy POS Goat to ride a goatholder airline to the illegal immigrant capital of the world.
