Surprised they did it mid season, but what must be done eventually….
Hard to believe that happened so long ago. He's a man. He's 58.
I just heard Chris Vernon say that the seniors from that team are now 40Hard to believe that happened so long ago.
They had 38 incoming transfers, the team is loaded with Seniors but I'm sure there are some that will transfer. The need to hire a coach before Arkansas, Virginia Tech, UCLA, & Florida.
Two thoughts
1. They have played 4 games, so everyone on the team is still eligible to redshirt. Do they have any players that would draw interest in the portal?
2. They probably have boosters withholding $ until Gundy was terminated.

I guess that means they are no longer safe, and we can come after them now.I just heard Chris Vernon say that the seniors from that team are now 40

Not particularly challenging however.GOAT being raked over the coals is fun.
Ferenz will be on the clock Sunday assuming they lose to Indiana at home on Saturday. Iowa has 1 loss now with @ Wisconsin, Penn State, Minnesota, Oregon, @ USC, Michigan State, & @ Nebraska remaining. Iowa struggled with Rutgers on Saturday and you can make a strong case that every remaining team on their schedule is better than Rutgers.Post in thread 'Iowa & Oklahoma State jobs will both be open this year!'

I'll believe it when I see it. Ferenz is a bit of an institution there.Ferenz will be on the clock Sunday assuming they lose to Indiana at home on Saturday. And it's not like he's really done anything wrong other than have a boring offense. Finished ranked 5 of previous 7 years and is 3-1 this year (unranked seasons were 8-5 & 8-5). They may fire him, but they're making a big mistake if they do.I'll believe it when I see it. Ferenz is a bit of an institution there.
Hmmm, I wonder if anyone has ever been fired quicker after winning conference coach of the year......How about this little nugget: He was named the Big 12 coach of the year in 2023. He was fired 15 games later (4-11). Also, exactly one year ago, OK State was 3-0 and ranked 14th.

Hasn't done anything wrong? He went 1-10 in 1999, 3-9 in 2000, 6-7 in 2006, and 4-8 in 2012. What kind of program can claim to be serious about football if they aren't firing a coach that has had 4 losing season? Two of them back to back and with 3 or fewer wins? He's lucky they let him stick around for the other 23 seasons. And it's not like he's really done anything wrong other than have a boring offense. ^ should've been fired after 06.
His "Yankee Azz" was promptly dragged out 4 days after the Music City Bowl as it should have beenYes, they may fire him this year but it will probably take something unique to happen in order for them to do it mid-year. Buddy of mine played for him and loves the guy...but hates his offense.I'll believe it when I see it. Ferenz is a bit of an institution there.
are you arguing for or against his firing?Has Iowa as good as they can reasonably be,
Not sure if serious, but three of those losing seasons were 20 years or more ago. He's also won two Big Ten championships, taken Iowa to 12 straight bowl games and 19 bowl games overall, and played in the Big Ten championship game two years ago. His record is 207-125 at Iowa, which is not exactly a blue blood program. He isn't going anywhere this year unless he's involved in some major scandal or decides to retire.Hasn't done anything wrong? He's basically a rich man's Jeff Bower. Has Iowa as good as they can reasonably be, but it's boring to watch and some of their fans are bored with being consistently good but not great.
I will forever blame you for introducing me to that "so ridiculous it's funny" routine during the Masters.I don’t believe it unless it’s in rap form asking
What’s goin on in Stillwater?
They fired Mike Gundayyyy
The day after Mondayyyy
If Indiana keeps playing the way they have been playing, they will definitely lose.Ferenz will be on the clock Sunday assuming they lose to Indiana at home on Saturday. The sight of that guy makes me want to vomit. I thought he was going to be a good one, proved I don’t know crap. Not sure about that but I distinctly remember one going 8-4 and then 6-7 and telling everybody "This is my school, this is my team, this is my program, and anyone who thinks otherwise could pound sand and kick rocks. You'll have to drag my Yankee azz out of here."
