Always a weird feeling when a person or family you know of experiences tragedy during a time when the rest of the world is partying. Had a friend lose his dad a few weeks back, couple days before a UK game, and felt guilty for enjoying myself during the game.

I'm generally all for upsets, but Iowa State is one of the few teams in the South capable of beating Duke, so I'm a little conflicted here.

There's *always* one sexy/smart pick to make a deep run...that ends up getting bounced in the 1st round. Looks like it's Iowa State this year. That was an awfully popular Final Four pick.

In the last 3 years, Duke has lost to Lehigh and Mercer in Round 1. So yeah, I'm pretty sure there are still options out there to knock off the Blue Devils.

If anything, this should be a warning shot to Duke. Two teams with high octane offenses and suspect D were either ousted or taken to the wire. Duke won't lose in the 1st round but it's going to be really hard for a team like them to win four games.

The only Power 5 conference teams Duke has even a chance of playing before the Final Four are Utah, Iowa, and UCLA.

I know it's not a popular take in GYERO, but I think Gonzaga is actually pretty damn good this year and will beat Duke if they match up. I'm well aware of their tournament history and how ****** the WCC (non-Chad, but also applicable) is, but they took the team I'm most scared of in this tourney to OT on their home court.

If Gonzaga is going to make a run, this is definitely the year to do it. Their first two games are against chalk, and Duke doesn't play defense.

By the way- swear, last night's Catfish episode filmed a scene on the Newport floodwall. Kid looked like a Dayton Green Devil, too.

Georgia State actually SHOULD have been smart fans favorite to upset.....but they won their conference title game something like 38-36. WTF? That's the only reason I couldn't pull the trigger.
