I'd say that is a fluke.
I mean if big honk didn't score early that was 25points. Duke is worse defensively so I'm sure that played a factor.
A fluke would be hitting 15 3's. It's something that's not likely to be replicated. The Duke game wasn't a fluke, but rather a glimpse of what the team could be when clicking. Eventually they will begin to get it together and have more "Dukes" and less "UCLAs".
Either that or Duke is flat awful and by transitive property IU is $8,000,000 of bad middle school team bad.
In the long run, I am confident in our backcourt getting it together with Ulis, Briscoe, Murray, and Matthews.

I think we're a pretty ****** basketball team compared to our ranking/expectation, sorry. We have as much room to improve as anyone, and hopefully we will.

It's December and I promised myself after the last 2 seasons I'm not putting too much stock into December results with a young team. But there are disturbing trends on defense that I'm not sure get fixed over time.
I wouldn't say I'm :angry: about Skal and our outside shooting yet, but definitely :flushed:.
It helps that Ulis is the greatest leader in Kentucky Basketball history.
We definitely have more room to improve than anyone. No doubt about that and that's not totally positive.

I honestly think the shooting will come around before the post play. We had a million points in the paint against an OVC team, but our front court kinda sucks. There's a reason Lee and Poythress are upperclassmen here and it's not because they just couldn't leave the cheddar tots behind. Skal is the most lost of any Cal big man and I put that on his high school coaching. It has completely failed him. I'd rather see more small ball with Willis or Matthews at the four. We aren't gonna be a great post team, let's play uptempo and play to our strengths. Duke won it all last season playing three guards, a wing and a center.
He's just going to have to decide if defense/rebounding is more important than scoring. We have pieces they just don't fit well.
Have a hard time believing he can help when Izak gets zero minutes vs EKU.

Yeah, well no one has one of those this season. Also there's no team with four lottery picks and ten NBA players or a senior laden, Final Four experienced team led by a seven footer who can bury 20' jumpers.
