All the local hacks are just lying in wait for us to lose on Saturday. Even Sullivan could not even wait for it. They just want it so bad. That ***** scandal shut them up briefly but they want their "take that" moment.
We aren't very good right now but with the bright lights on and Rupp going apeshit, we will win.

If there is any sort of slight positive I took from last years absolutely gut wrenching final, is that I'm significantly more calm about games pre-March. I remember staying up till 2am cursing when we lost that game at Alabama Brandon Knight's year when Darius Miller was too much of a gash to take that open 3, etc. etc. But the fact that we looked better in December last year than any other time (I literally think we played our best game of the season against UCLA) has just given me more perspective about how little it matters in the grand scheme of things how we look in December/January, and how completely pointless the regular season truly is in college bball.

Great Lakes is still prolly my favorite Xmas Ale, but I like West 6th and MadTree pretty well too.

Rhinegeist's "Dad" is really good too and not as heavy so you can have more than two and not be all pie eyed.

Yup, Hancock only got away with a half dozen forearm shivers and fouled out Young singlehandedly. Bastard refs had no respect for the cool hand Luuuuuuke.

Good Lord, these people.

•Rhinegeist "Dad" is great
Also like the Shiner

•Chase, how old is your stepson? I'm guessing 10 or 11 based on pictures? Seems young to have a cell phone. I know they're ubiquitous and all now, but I managed until I was 19 or so. I really tell myself I'm gonna make mine wait til at least 14 or 15.

What's certain is they'll pay half the bill for their line.

•I've moved on from the loss. Take care of bidness Saturday and all will be right for the time being, because...

I wasn't really questioning you, just was curious. But, I'll say I think until a kid can drive, not certain they "need" a phone. Call it a convenience, which is what it is. It's easier to text him than it is to call his dad.

When YOU were 19…as in years ago for most of us as well, and we didn’t have the actual need for a cell phone (nor was there such an invention in my era) Our parents dropped us off at ball practice, school events, friends, etc…and said they would pick us up later. And the parents had this amount of worry that there would be a problem: NONE.

When my girls were younger, and they were at cheer practice/trips or whatever, they had a cell that was limited in functions, and would call us if needed. I personally wanted them to be able to reach us or grandparents anytime they needed to. It was a rarity, but still a peace of mind given how times have changed. Imo, a cell is a near requirement for kids these days when they reach at least middle school, maybe a few years before. And what is the actual problem of them texting their friends on a limited basis when not interfering with school or family events?

Do they need the new Note or Galaxy? Probably not, but a cheap cell can also teach responsibility when away from home.

And paying half the bill???? Seriously? You can’t add a line for $10 a month and have it set to limited minutes, texts, etc?

when my grandmother was a child, they didn't even have a car. they walked, rode their bicycle, or rode a burro everywhere. and you know what? they were just FINE.

so enough with this "needing" a car thing. and running water, central heat and air, and electricity. it's a matter of convenience. period.

We've told our 9 year old she gets a phone with only texting and calling capability when she gets to middle school. I dunno, sees like that's a responsibility they should be able to handle at that point.

I'm still trying to decide at what point to get her her first gun and cc permit. She has to pay for half the ammo.

- I'm thinking about waiting until kindergarten before getting my son a cell phone.

- Not worried about this team. Ulis, Murray, and Briscoe will get it together in league play and we'll be a force come March. That alone will make the post players look better.

- #20 ranked overall football class for next year as of right now, that is good for 3rd best in the SEC East. Talent is improving, but game management is our biggest weakness as a football program right now.

- picked up a couple of hundred lbs of beef yesterday from the slaughterhouse and passed out a lot of it as Christmas gifts. Home grown, organic, grass fed, antibiotic and hormone free beef. I bet even sloot would eat this stuff.

- Gave out Christmas bonuses at work yesterday, got more hugs from grisly construction workers than is necessary for the year.

- Trump is a douche, but I do get humor out of the way the left wingers cringe at the thought of him as POTUS.

Yo, anyone watching "Making of a Murderer" on Netflix?

I watched the 1st 2 last night...damn. Obviously a style inspired by Serial and apparently HBO's 'The Jinx' which I'm not familiar with, but it's really messed up & even more gripping. Great stuff...no clue how it ends up and not going to google it, so no spoilers.

Highly recommend.

Surprisingly not porn, yet. I'm sure that's right around the corner though. Apparently kids his age watch YouTube much more than tv. He watches several of those channels with guys that talk about and play video games. Amazing to me how popular some of those douche bags are with the middle school demographic, but apparently they make millions of dollars a year.

I will say this, raising a kid today is so unbelievably different than when we were kids. You can't protect them from what they might see because it's easily accessible no matter what you do if you have a mildly intelligent kid. I find consistently communicating with him works better than trying to blind fold him until he's 18. Everyone parents differently though so raise your kids how you want.

Was nice visiting with the McUrshels last night. Some pretty interesting hot yoga lessons, good stuff.

Had a nice juicy New York strip last night. Wasn't organic grass fed or whatever...guess I'm on 80's naughty list.

The Nordictrack arrived yesterday, thing is pretty dope. Have no idea what some of the bells and whistles are, might be able to launch the space shuttle from it...hit the treads.

If you don't let him do the porn and stuff now he's going to be a complete slut & try and wax EVERYTHING when he gets to college.

:joy:

us non parents probably need our own forum so we can preach to the actual parents about how to raise their kids. kind of like handel on the law. marginal parenting advice right there at your fingertips.

15 before a cell phone ?? Lol, put him / her on lock, no dating, make up, or sleeping over friends house till at least 19. "Can you not read little Johnny ? it says no one under 17 can watch rated R movies." Tried the shield my kids because of the way I came up, rebelled at every turn. With 3 boys, now 23,21,17, I finally had to say to myself "ok, safety net gone, you raised them right, just hope the "got" at least 50% of it." They have done some knucklehead ****, but overall could not be more proud. The two oldest work and make pretty damn good cheese for their age, one at a Walmart Distribution Center, the other for Fed Ex. Why we do this. They always offer to pay at dinner, and 100% of the time pay the tip, after I tell them no they are not paying.
