And now I must confess
I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane
Think I hurt my brain
But it cleans me out, then I can go on

One of my “obscure” favorites.

That chorus is gold.

Another deep-cut gem...

The Buffett tributes and reminiscing since Saturday got me thinking of something tonight. He's one of those music acts who had a monster career without really being able to sing like a star. Who would you put on your Rushmore of acts like that?

Bob Dylan
Willie Nelson
Jimmy Buffett
Hank Williams

Overlooking anyone? Is there a female version?

Sorry, J.....this makes no sense. There is no "star" voice label. 1001 different types of voices have went on to become one of the best in their genre. Sure, there are great singers who can blow the roof off w/ their style, but that doesn't make them any "better" in terms of stardom....countless cases of this. There are more George Straits of the word than Luther's. The examples you listed have all different styles, ranges, etc.

That’s probably the list… although I might sub Springsteen in for Buffett. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that’s a list of all-time great song writers.

Stevie Nicks.

The Ruby Franke case is a doozy. She's a smokeshow mormon fembot (who looks a lot better in video than in pictures, strangely) who is accused along with her business partner of abusing her upteen million kids. One of the kids allegedly escaped from the house emaciated with duct tape around the wrists begging for food.

The kicker -- OF COURSE -- is that ol' Ruby has her own YouTube mommy vlog.

Reptillian Plane Lady has met her match, imo.

Dave Matthews and John Mayer - although neither would bump into that Rushmore.

- de la Cruz on the base paths is pure electricity. Dude’s Willie Mays Hayes.

- Add Mad Tree Ziegler to my Oktoberfest hierarchy.

- Gotta be careful with the monochromatic jerseys. They don’t always work - talking to you, UNC and Tennessee.

- I want to make this clear- I hate all the SEC … fairly equally, besides Tennessee and Florida somewhat more than the rest.

- Seeing social media memes claiming Clemson not used to losing like this. TF you mean? They had a nice little 5-year run and are just now back to who they really are. I don’t feel bad for their fans. They should be happy about their brief shot into the atmosphere. The people I do feel sorry for, though, are the rich kids from up East and the Midwest who chose to pass on State U to go to a football school in the south choosing college at Clemson over Bama or Georgia. Dabo owes an explanation to those poor kids.

- I should be in DA HOUZE tonight for the Reds game.

- Hosting a 3-year-old birthday party for Saturday. God help me.

There's a shocking amount of Mormon influencers. If you're wife follows or you swipe by a blonde, attractive, in-shape, mom vlogger/influencer there's about an 80% chance they live in Utah.

I’m shocked the Mormons have an oversized share of crazy people.

And yes, all those mommy bloggers are nutjobs.

I appreciated Buffett’s Mississippi Gulf Coast drawl. Raw. Unpolished. I believe it made for a great voice in terms of who he was and what he was feeling/writing and singing.

Mags mentioned yesterday about Buffett’s acoustic bit on Letterman back in the early 80’s. So good.

I’ll take hosting a 3YO birthday party all/air over going to WKU for a family day planned event.

Family day, at college as if I need a planned event to visit the kid supposed to be learning how to handle life on his own! I’m not sure what’s worse when considering who this is for whether it be the homesick kid(not ours) or the mom/aunt that just lost her puppy(bingo!!!).

7YO little league fall 9-1030am———> Bowling Green on week 2 of college football. I better not hear a thing the rest of the season for this.

-The play with youth parties is to host at one of the 1000 different playhouses, trampoline parks, batting cages, Malibu Jacks, Main Event, etc. No pre/during/post cleaning required. Kids love it. Most are pretty cheap. Plus, you don't find a 5 year old, cracked out on HFCS, Red 40 and Yellow 5, beating your car with a plastic golf club.

-A league scheduling Fall Ball games on Saturday is ********. 2 weekday games AT most is the rule.

-Tik Tok meme couples are WAY more annoying. Pretty easy to avoid a vlog. But these fools end up on my timeline doing staged ****. Stop ruining my mindless scrolling, weirdos.

-My next 6 weeks. 😳 Just no down time.

-Looks like fall starts tomorrow. Forecast is solid for you fall heads.

-Short single to RF and the throw home was 5 seconds behind Elly coming from 2nd. He's been WAY more patient at the plate. Gamechanger. Do we have a starting pitcher on the active roster?

-About caught up on Gemstones. What a ridiculous show. Only complaint, we all need more Baby Billy in our life.

-Hurricane Lee gonna be a beast. Hopefully stays way out in the Atlantic.

-Bike to Beat Cancer Week and this is my annual solicitation for donations. Click the link to be a good person.

They really couldn’t figure out how to best utilize Baby Billy the last half of the show. Was like watching Tubby try to coach Rondo. Big miss, IMO.

I know I’m in the minority here but I prefer hosting the kid parties at my house.

Don’t have to pack anything up or leave
Order 5-6 large pizzas
Make a cake
Get a bunch of beer and juice boxes
Kids swim in the pool for 1.5-2 hours, eat, open presents, gone.

I think this topic proves that you don't have to be a good singer to be a good musician. As if that needed to be proven.

HOT TAKE: I assume it'll get worked out with Z, but I'm not sweating it either way. Would be nice to have some added depth in the frontcourt, but I'm not sold on him being the best fit with this team. Also not sold on NBA blog nerd world's fascination with him. That whole scene just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe they ruined Z for me by liking him too much. Bradshaw OTOH, IMO, ATKOT, will be perfect. The only thing that the summer team needed to add was a long, rim protecting, rebounding, lob catcher. Not necessarily another guy with the ball in his hands.

I think Demarcus Cousins had the correct take on the Z admissions issue, before the Cornell game.

Hoping to see Ramon Jefferson and Anthony Brown-Stephens get some touches Saturday. In my mind, ABS is Wandale 2.0.

Is PFF even a legitimate grading system? Or is it like a more quantitative BigGameBoomer that just throws **** to the wall to get people arguing.

Been watching This Fool on Hulu. Not a top shelf comedy like Gemstones, but consistently funny with the occasional LOL.

I love How To with John Wilson. New season is right up there with the first two. I'm sure to love anything with Nathan Fielder involved.

Just imagine if the Reds had picked up a real pitcher or two before the deadline.

-every character is awesome but:

1. Keefe (it ain't close, imo)
2. BJ
3. Uncle Baby Billy
4. Judy

*don't sleep on Matthew*

-they also do a great job casting the ancillary characters. Eric Roberts, Steve Zahn etc.

-such a good show...it's allowed me to talk the wife into watching EB&D, so that's nice.

-PFF is legit and Chris Collinsworth's cash cow. Props to him for finding the niche.

-I need the school system to find a universal app and stick with it. Remind, Group Me, Class Dojo, Bloomz, Infinite Campus, and Google Classroom are required to keep up with the kids' schoolwork. It's ridiculous. While we're at it let's use it as a communication avenue and not a social media platform. I care about my kids' school work but I don't think it's necessary to post two to three paragraphs about a 9-question Wednesday science quiz to seek out "likes" from parents. Your app clout isn't a measure of anything you attention fiend.

WCC being in DA HOUZE made me remember that, even though the Cats were the better, cooler team,

The 'Cuse is in the house oh my god oh my god

was way cooler than

Tell me who's in the house tonight? U K!

Amen to this.

I’d even be ok with one app for school, one for the kids’ sports. It’s ridiculous.

And while we’re at it- TeamSnap needs to settle the eff down with the ads. I’m not paying for the “premium” but the effing furniture ads that take up the whole screen two seconds after I open up to see where practice is tonight really grinds my gears.
