-Does anyone else despise the ginger dude in the pop up ad for the last two + weeks?

-NFL is something to have on in the background on Sunday, I definitely don’t get amped.

-This weather though…shewboy. Lady at First Watch was like do you mind sitting outside if it becomes available? Uhh we’d prefer that thanks!

Church youth group, HS band, volunteering for charity drives etc.
When you're 16 years old+ EVERYTHING you do, in the final analysis, was done to get trim. Not exactly a newsflash I'll grant you.

I had NO legitimate interest in any of the above back then, but sometimes you've got to put in the work.
(volunteered to man the phones in HS, out at the local TV station on Winchester Rd. for the Jerry Lewis telethon I'm not even sure the GD phones WORKED, but by God, when they broke in for the local segments, your *** better be on the phone, pretending to be taking a pledge) I can't even remember the bait, errrr girl's name that got me to do it, but they had set up cots/sleeping bags in a open area away from the studios, because we worked the entire overnight shift, and she and I got busted back there. Nobody really seemed to care about that, they were WAY more concerned that the stupid local segment was coming up and "you two don't seem to be taking this very seriously!" (I took the massive case of blue balls pretty GD seriously)

- man that is just a god awful ice cold take, yeeesh. Hall of famer.

-wife was at a girls trip this weekend. Her second in 2 months. I think my general disposition towards her has ensured she’s not doing another one for a very long time. I mean let’s not push it, toots.

Okay, I’ll play along. Simply put, a full service bar likely doesn’t have every single spirit, mixer, bitter, ingredient, etc that goes into the hundreds of thousands of cocktails there are. Plus, the bar tenders likely don’t know how to make every single type of cocktail.

As an example, order a Mai Thai at Mama’s Fish House in Maui and compare that to the one you get at a full service Chili’s in Corbin.

Basically it comes down to why not just drink what you like when you’re at home? I understand people want vacation cocktails but the amount of returns on “I didn’t like this I’ll take a Tito’s soda” is extremely high. It’s annoying for everyone.

It’s not a big deal but it does waste time at a busy bar and you know what you actually want, so just order it.

I will say the amount of barkeeps in SWFL that complain about making mojitos is extremely annoying to me. I’m like bruh you moved here, you didn’t expect to make mojitos? Plus, they’re not hard to make, takes 10 extra seconds.

But certain drinks take way too long, as I said before, anything “smoked” gfy. They’re getting the same tip off of a bud light as they are a Cancun espresso martini with smoked marshmallows or wtf ever. So why would they want to make it? It’s fine I rarely complain but people acting more fancy than they are is annoying.

Order whatever drink you want Sarah, you’re still going home to your 38K teaching job.

I come from a position of knowledge…

Would love to see you pull that **** as a bartender at a cocktail place in Seattle. Those hipsters would totally eff up your restaurant’s yelp rating.

Just like a lady told me one time, “you could never talk to me like that in Manhattan!” I literally said, “Guess where we’re not love? Manhattan.”

Almost wish my team wasn’t a perennial Super Bowl contender so I didn’t have to pay attention to the National Football League.
I know this is tongue in cheek but apparently they have an 11.5% chance to make the playoffs after 0-2. At least that’s what stats over the last 270 teams to start 0-2 says.

A couple of lucky WC wins, followed by a good year doesn't equal perennial. That is evident by the the first 2 weeks this year.

You're probably good to find other Sunday activities.

Akron Game Thoughts:

1. The Zips is the worst team name in football. It is short for "Zippers" -- after rubber boots made by BF Goodrich in the 1920s. Their mascot is a female kangaroo named Zippy.

Matt Jones would probably let these guys host a brunch at KSBar.

2. Loved seeing so many defensive second and third string guys play. A ton of them seized the moment. Fearby, especially, looked great. Dude both broke up a pass and gave some QB pressure. With his frame, you can squint and see a poor man's Josh Allen. He's only a RS frosh.

Henry-Young, Hardaway, and Dunn also showed the talent that got them high level D1 offers out of high school.

3. With the young guys looking great, some of the older guys on defense weren't so much. Weaver has been average all year. If Fearby and Matthews keep it up, he might start losing snaps. What was up with Afari? He only played 32 snaps and I don't recall him making a play when he was out there. After Wallace, he's got the most NFL talent in the back 7 imo. Oxedine is rapidly getting replaced.

4. Other than a massive whiff by Marques Cox that led to Leary getting sacked from the blindside, the tackles largely played pretty good. Flax has been unremarkable thus far this year, which is a huge upgrade.

I think Flax can come back next year. If so, we are probably going to be hoping that he does.

5. We need to swap Cox and Burton spots on the line until Horsey returns. We also need our hotshot sophomore receivers to live up to their billing.

You can see the cake baking. I'm pretty excited. What about you, UKO?

You have to be totally unaware of the situation to let a man in cuffs lay that kind of headbutt on you.

Silly *** white people!

Or headbutting someone while in cuffs with a cop standing by your side.
No pleading not guilty to that one

*unawares

I think the hallmark of the late Stoops era is exceeding expectations (e.g. covering the spread), while simultaneously looking worse than people expected you to look. The "eye-test" then keeps expectations low, which we exceed, but again look bad in the process. It's a cycle. It scales up from individual games, too. We always win more games than the media predicts, but somehow don't look as good as they expected while doing it.

There's always one big thorn, too. 2018 we couldn't pass. 2019 we didn't even have a QB. 2020 was just weird for everyone, but again we sucked at passing. 2021 was turnover city. 2022 2slow2scangalicious. 2023 drops/penalties.

Still, we cover the spread in ugly fashion.

-According to the socials apparently both American and English Football fans were rowdy this weekend. Must feel the impending cold darkness coming and trying to squeeze every last bit of energy from summer.

-Stayed up until 2a+ watching that damn game. Why on earth did that game start so late? Stupid decision.

-American Sepp Kuss won the Vuelta Espana!! Not only did he win but he did it in incredible fashion which, in cycling, is the most important thing. Panache. He became a fan favorite and is universally loved. Something, as American Cycling, fans we probably won't see again.

-Fantastic extravaganza. The spread was over the top. Wine tasting. Great crowd. Perfect weather.

-Not so fantastic part, the roving band of 8 year old banshees managed to knock the garage door off the damn rollers and it nearly landed on our cars. The destructive power of those little sumbitches rivals any natural disaster.

-NFL is background noise for me. Just can't get invested.

-I'm a standard drink order but I'll mix it up if the place has a signature cocktail that piques my interest.

-That pass to Jordan Dingle. Pure AF.

-Holler today if you haven't received your bottle of Down Home. I have several left. It received lots of praise.

Was originally rooting for Sepp Kuss, but after hearing about him nonstop all weekend, I'm already over the guy. At the tailgate, at the game w/ my section buddies, at brunch Sunday pre-Bengals, and every talk radio show I listened to hoping for the CFB talk, all anyone wanted to talk about was the universally loved Sepp.
