Solid weekend:

*Friday:
My only unconfirmed plan was taking/picking up a couple of friends to see Jason Aldean. That turned into an invite to Ruby's and the concert. JR's > JA.

*We got a tour of the new rooms, which are plush as a mofo.

*Saw the ex at the concert. I walked right past her and her dude on the steps towards the bar and didn't notice them. Not a shock as I'm pretty oblivious to my surroundings most of the time. I walked up the steps to laughter. Had no clue what was funny until she said, "Did you see her pass you on the steps? She was out of her head drunk." Oh well, his problem now.

*Saturday:
Took my son to Waldo's for lunch before he had to work.
Dinner at Malones then to the Palace to see Jim Gaffigan.

*Sunday:
Made chili and watched football all day.

*Jews are favored against Hamas, right?

-Mom was at gaffigan and I told her the cool points took quite a jump in my book.

-Personally, I bet THE HOUSE on the Jews so I’ve been in front of my TV non-stop cheering them on every morning with Fox doing the play by play.

I’m wearing jeans to my appointment today. Of course, my potential client is an indoor gun range. Might go pick up a MAGA hat for good measure.

Dress code at this place for employees is Hawaiian shirt. I mean, Boogaloo Boys and all I’d have gone with something else. But whatev.

Long overdue. You want to command presence and be an effective leader?

Stop dressing like you’re going out to grab some toilet paper & other sundries at WalMart and dress like a man who’s the Head Coach of the University of Kentucky Basketball Program making 9 large a year.

Normally I couldn’t give two ***** what a man wears. Unless it’s to a funeral or on the sidelines as the Head Coach of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Then a jacket and tie are not optional.

This is a decent travel ball bit but I’m posting it because I just learned green army duffles were universal and not just something my little league coaches did.

Why at a funeral? The deceased literally couldn’t care less. Wear board shorts and flops to mine and dump me in the ocean while listening to dirty heads, cheersing and laughing please.

I literally don’t even own a sports coat that fits anymore and don’t plan on buying one any time soon. Definitely don’t own a suit. Different strokes I reckon.

Michigan State Football:

"Hey, can't get much worse than this."

"Oh yeah, what if we put a picture of Hitler on the scoreboard during a game!"
That situation sums up the state of major universities right now, and it would make me question spending any money on one outside having a lot of fun for four years. Look at what MSU did:
  1. Flush athletic department (from Big 10 money) uses a free 3rd party service to write trivia questions for its scoreboard without credit or consent from the service's owner. No validation or checking of the questions used by the 3rd party.
  2. Question about Hitler during a History quiz section comes on the scoreboard. University immediately finds out about point #1, but instead of treating everybody like adults as in "yeah, sorry, it was a 3rd party quiz about history and Hitler is unfortunately part of history", they infantize the entire audience by giving some ******** about how it clearly made people "feel unsafe". Do they not find it ironic that a
  3. Athletic department placed employee responsible for using the service on paid leave while they "investigate". I mean fire him for ripping off the 3rd party I guess, but what the hell is there to investigate?
What a clown show.

Malachi 1:6-8: "If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty.

Wear nice clothes to church, Rogue.

Always wear slacks and a collar to church even though people roll in with flops and board shorts these days I can’t do that.
In our Sunday School class this past weekend, a couple was telling us that their college aged kids said that one of their turn offs for going to church was having to dress nicely. They said it was an inconvenience, and they don't like inconveniences. But somehow I'm the ******* for asking, "oh, is it too hard for your little 22-year old to comb her hair and change out of her pajama pants?"

Maybe.

But against Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and the rest of the Middle East, nah.

That's true for anyone. But with full equipment and arms backing from the US, I'd bet on Israel in that scenario. Those guys are 100 percent committed, and the IAF is elite...
If the outcome/winner is determined by who will inflict more damage, while not getting occupied, then it's Israel all day.

Churches basically had to start letting people wear whatever to keep attendance up, kids were not going to go if they had to get dressed up.

I guess it’s better they go in sweats than not at all. But I grew up, like most of us, dressed in our, you know , “Sunday best”. So I just can’t bring myself to not wear the minimum of slacks/collar/shoes.

I chalk it up to poor parenting.

(Slow GYERO lately so one of my 4 or 5 posts a year)

My oldest ran the No Business 100 (101.9 miles) for the 3rd year in row this past weekend. He ran 27:05 his first year and 27:08 his second year. The first year, he was 19 and was trying to figure things out having never ran an ultra before. The second year he was still getting over typhoid fever and nutrition issues so to be within 3 minutes of the first year was pretty amazing.

He set a goal to try to complete 2023 NB in under 24hrs and hoped this would put him in the top ten. Cutting 3hrs off his time was a pretty lofty goal according to most of his running buddies that I talked to but they thought it was doable. I doubted he could do it. He cut 6.5 hours off for a time of 20:35 and a 2nd place finish.

It's hard to put into words the thrill of chasing your kid for 100 miles from aid station to aid station as he works his way through the pack and even leading for one leg of the race.
