- @Ron Mehico congratulations on the new house, man. Finally got in ours a month ago and I love it so much I never want to leave.

- My neighborhood has been besieged by Asian lady beetles. I vacuumed about 400 of the little boogers yesterday and then got their nasty stank on my hands cleaning them out of said vacuum. Based on my anger-fueled Googling, there isn't really anything else that can be done other than a) vacuum and b) lol, wait til fall ends. There are way worse bugs to battle, obv, but you can usually kill those all at once with a treatment. Not these. Invasive bastards.

- Headed back to NYC for anniversary in another week. Neither of us have gotten to do the full tourist loop of Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, etc., so we've got all the big stops booked. I look forward to my legs falling off after all the walking. Also snagged lowers for a Knicks-Clippers game at the Garden; can't wait to see Quick/Randle again. Apparently BJ Boston is a Clipper? And Poppin Toppin is a Knick? Neither will see the floor, probably, which...is fitting.

Levis starting Sunday? I followed fall camp pretty closely and it seemed like he was the real #2 all along. Assumed they just kept Willis listed there to prevent his trade value from plummeting.

Eased back into the bbq game with a pork butt Saturday. Probably my best ever. A simple rub of salt, pepper, garlic, paprika (mostly salt) to keep it versatile. 3 hrs on the smoker and overnight in the oven at 225. Pulled pork typically underwhelms when purchased, but when you nail one at home, pretty damn good stuff.

Annual Lexington weekend coming up. UT game, couple of date nights. Probably bounce around horse/bourbon country a bit. Kid-free weekends are gold. We've hit several good spots for lunch on past drives up through Central Kentucky: The Stave, Wallace Station, Laha's, Bardstown Bourbon Company, Heirloom. Thought about Starr Hill Provisions (Maker's Mark) or maybe The Bar at Willett. All recs are welcome, chefs.

Sadly it looks like Rock Bottom Brewery has pulled up stakes east of the Rockies.

Someone once told me when queried that Panera serves “expensive hospital food” and I hear it in my head anytime someone brings it up.

Who goes out for a turkey sandwich and chicken noodle soup, even worse, spends $40-$50 on Uber eats. I get TomChee, but not Panera.

Now McCallisters is a different story altogether.

Yes the Titans are starting Levis who has been the real #2 on the depth chart and it’s obvious now. It had more to do with keeping the media and fans at bay in the event Tannehill struggled, and he did terribly.

The left side of the line has been figured out so I like Levis to play well. The run game should be solid against Atlanta, and that means play action will help Levis big time in his first game ever.

I’m excited for the kid!

Every place in Cali asked for tips. I'm like, this is a damn liquor store, why am I tipping you? Actually hit no tip on that one. I'm typically 15 or 20 if you actually did something to assist.

Watched USA-Ghana last week in Nashville. Geodis Park is dope. There was a self serve beer kiosk with a self checkout and it had a tip line on the receipt. Had to go 0% on that one.

I was hoping for Astros/Phillies, but Dbacks/Rangers is fine. Garcia is a great story and fun to watch. Lots of young talent on the Dbacks. Scherzer is always interesting bc it’s always possible he’ll beat someone to death with a water cooler. Lots of storylines.

I feel like Tennessee is going to win by about 35 Saturday. Haven’t even considered we might win. Really looking forward to it!

This Michigan sign stealing story is pretty boring imo. Who cares? It’s football. Steal signs. It literally doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. We’re on the brink of nuclear holocaust. Have you guys seen the news? Oh so some dude at university of Michigan started learning the signs of other college football defenses?? Someone call the fbi!! I’m just trying to get through today. And tomorrow I’ll do the same thing. Nothing matters.

I like rogue but it always throws me off when I remember he’s 49 years old

Stop asking me to tip at subway - I’m sorry but I don’t want to. But I’m a soft piece of **** so yeah please add 15% to my $13 Turkey sandwich so I don’t feel like a prick on my 6 minute lunch break where all I want to do is forget about my life for a few minutes.

Can’t believe there’s a basketball game Friday. Feels wrong to have basketball when it’s gonna be 77 degrees outside
41 thank you sir, I need those 8 years so I can develop skin cancer and bang mediocre service industry gals down here.

Gotta have attainable goals. Perkins waitress?

Ziggy never gonna see the floor for UK?

Rarely order delivery will typically go pick it up. Carrabba's, for fast Italian, always hot and stays hot until we are home. I will order online but not leave a tip online. As others have said, try to carry some cash so my tip will vary depending upon situation, service, size of order.

I’ve just never seen anything like what’s happening with Big Z. Why in TF were we celebrating him moving into the dorms, getting accepted into UK, enrolling in classes, etc??

The dude is never going to be eligible, right?

lol @ the suckers that follow bball offseason news and roster news, what a losers bet. I literally couldn’t tell you anything about this “big z” guy except he’s a 6’11” Croatian that entered the draft last year and is projected a second round pick, is foul prone and needs to get stronger but has a good perimeter game and shot blocking skills, and was late enrolling to UK because he failed the TOEFEL exam but wasn’t given enough time due to his dyslexia even though he speaks 4 languages.

Are we sure this dude actually exists?
Cal's Ivan Renko?

Bobby Knight was an absolute POS but by golly he was right about this:

I don't believe I've ever seen an occupation where there is more internal jealousy than in sports writing.

I've wondered how many guys who talk or write so knowingly ever played a team sports. I've always contended there's a huge segment of people who cover sports who don't like sports - they don't like the salaries athletes or coaches get, they envy athlete's recognition they get and the aura around them, and they have ever since those were the guys getting girlfriends in high school.

They're an amazing group.

You should see some o the guys who call me fat.

You should see how some of these guys dress - and criticize my wearing apparel.

Millionaire?

You mean “hung over?”
Fair... but no matter when I go into a McD half the people coming in there are picking up food orders for delivery. I looked on-line... two Big Mac meals after the delivery charge and tip will run you around $30. My baseline for a Big Mac meal is $2.99 (which apparently last occurred in 1992), but still, $30 for that seems insane.

I did UberEats a couple times when it started and quickly realized it could be a problem. I’ll use it with a gift card or something but it feels like playing with fire.

White Wayne is completely ignoring how unbelievably lazy many people are. Yeah, spending $10 on McDonalds is way more practical than $30, but a lot of times that extra $20 is WELL worth it. Because lazy.

I suppose you could change your own oil and drive your garbage to the city dump once a week and ride the bus to work, too. But no thanks.

Not a whole lot of ultrarunning fanatics around here, but sport is sport. And a lot of people do enjoy watching the best compete. About 10ish years ago, famous ultra sado masochist Gary Cantrell (made famous by The Barkley Netflix doc) started Big's Back Yard Ultra. Big is his dog's name, and the race is in his back yard.

At exactly the top of each hour, participants must run one 4.17 mile lap, and they can run as fast or slow as they wish, so long as they start the next lap precisely at the top of the following hour. For a few years it was just a normal sign-up-and-do-it race (buddy who lives down the street from me did it in 2015), but it grew like crazy. Now, the field is international, filled with the best distance runners in the world, and the distance to win gets longer and longer each year. It's currently going on, and they are 107 hours in. That's 107 laps x 4.17 miles = 446 miles. The best American, who has won this event several times, is Cincinnati schoolteacher Harvey Lewis.

click here to follow on facebook

As of now it's down to just him and one guy from Ukraine via Canada.

link: You Tube feed

The previously mentioned Cantrell is a lunatic, so every single person that does NOT win is given a DNF (did not finish), and the winner gets......nothing. 🤣

Without question, my #1 concern is how in the world these guys get enough sleep. The two that are still going are FOUR AND A HALF DAYS in. Absolutely insane.

This reads as if you actually know a lot about “big z”.

- Panera lol - bewilders me why anyone would hit that place when the Atlanta Bread Company is around.

- Oh Sloot you were in Napa? No F’ing ****. This is GYERO - we’ve all been to Napa. We’re all on some winery mailing list that makes us feel more superior than the schleb buying a bottle at Liquor Barn. Want to impress me, tell me about a trip to Priorat. Napa marcus welby Gatlinburg in here. Why don’t you brag about your new Volkwagen while you’re at it.

- Party School Rankings shouldn’t be subjective at all. Just give me the number of freshmen who don’t make it to January and I will rank the party schools.

- Was there some turkey conservation project in Kentucky the past 10-15 years or something? I grew up in the sticks and never saw a turkey. These past few years they’re more common than rabbits.

- I’m used to and even cool with us being mediocre but our passing game give me a special kind of redass.

- friend is leading the F-18 flyover before the game Saturday, gonna be awesome to see. First game in person this year, let's hope we don't lay another touching egg.

- Anyone got a KET parking pass laying around they don't want/need?

We spent most of our time in Santa Rosa/Sonoma. Day trip to the coast via the road that runs along the Russian River. We had a a good visit with @wildcat1973 one night. Miss that guy!

I’m still waiting on @B.B.d.K.’s snackdown.

@catholic_back, there are a couple on our block. Welcome to the neighborhood.
