Of all the embarrassing openers/early clunkers we’ve had lately, this one takes the cake.

Who do we beat by 40, early, ever (of late?)

This game means dick obviously, need bigs…

…but also makes it a fun watch & style. You can either enjoy the 40 point win opener, or be a ***** about it & And obsess about Cal & probable upcoming losses? 40, 50, 80pt win — trust it makes no difference for most. I get it.

- These freshmen guards are a real shot of life. All pressure the ball well with great effort and laterals. All can handle the ball. All are able and willing passers. And all have some **** to their game. Going to be fun watching them play.

- Thiero is exactly who we thought he’d be. Love him. Does all the little things.

- Edwards has some definite skill but not seeing the bounce you’d expect from a guy getting Top 5 love.

- We need our bigs- especially the way these guards play on both ends.

- **** haven’t even mentioned Reeves. He should get plenty of looks.

- Right now, I think you need 3/4 of our guards in at all times. Then Thiero as a defacto 5 and Edwards/Mitchell. Obviously, big need for some vertical threats on offense, rim protection and rebounding. Hope a couple of them
are back soon.

- Anyway- fun game. And we’re spreading the floor. Not sure how you can’t at least be a little excited to watch these guys play a bit.

To be clear, if I sounded like I was joining the bus, I wasn’t. This was my only point. I don’t want any of Cal’s usual too many bigs, clog the lane ********, but if we play a team with a true post presence…

That said, was the most fun I’ve had watching a game in a while.

I’d put nothing past Cal but all 3 of our bigs - should they ever play- are modern 5s. Not a back-to-the-basket honyok in the bunch.

Now - can I see them popping 3s? No but I think they’ll be rim-running and pick-n-popping when they join the team in 3-4 months.

Don’t hold breath on AB/Ugo. Have on decent authority neither are really close, especially UGO. Who TF knows with Bradshaw, but it’s already seeming predictably fishy.

Z expected soon, however.

Mitchell is obviously limited, he’s just not a banger, never was or will be. Finesse pick/pop guy with good size.

Still beyond lucky to have him. 9pts & team highs of 9 boards/5 dimes while struggling on his bread & butter of shooting - yet played on. 👍🏽

He & Adou are paramount. Theiro plays & battles his balls off. Unfortunately the most physical guy we have, by a mile, but embracing.

Hope he’s ok🙏

I'm far from a basketball, but this team with their noticeably better passing, spacing, tenacity and having more than one (1) shooter on the court is a welcome breath of fresh air after four years of watching slog ball.

May be a byproduct of Cal's inability to throw 2-3 bigs out there, but whatever, I'll take it and enjoy. Rather watch us give up a few boards but play with tempo and in an entertaining manner than what we've recently endured.

-Impressive 2nd half. Especially from the guards. Shep could be the key to dragging Cal out of the gutter and reengaging the BBN. Dily is gonna frustrate us but I love that spark plug. Should be the perfect 6th man. Dj was obviously pressing in the 1st half but looked much better, as everyone else, once he settled down.

-Edwards, what is he? Can't put my finger on his game/or lack of. Looks clunky and slow. I guess that's common when they're lost. At least he's getting boards. Just don't want a Livingston situation where he's taking Theiro's minutes.

-Went to vote this morning and I've been moved from Montclair to Complex. What the hell... Complex? Gerrymandering, motherf*ckers.
