What’s worse than that is people that keep their festival entry bracelets on for weeks after it’s over just hoping someone will ask about it.

OR

The same thing but with hospital bracelets. “Please ask about my hospital visit!” Yes I’ve seen people do this.

Once I shower and changed out of my running clothes, the medal is stuffed into a bin I’ll save for later. Probably won’t see it again for a few decades.

Wearing it the next day? Nope.

Half our plane ride home from Berlin to NYC still had theirs on two days later. Ridiculous.

Nerds being nerds, who would have thunk it.

Robinson was apparently “only” 6’7 when he started at the Naval Academy but shot up once he got there. He was also only 5’9 as a high school junior.

NYC Rundown Book Post:

- My only regret from this trip is that we didn't track down Keith Morrison to have him narrate our visit. Perfect weather, saw everything we wanted to, stayed in a great spot (Tempo by Hilton in Times Square, btw - brand new, super clean, rooms quiet even with a view of the stage on Broadway), didn't get murdered by hobos or the bald eagle-sized pigeons, etc.

- Made it to the American Natural History Museum, 9/11 Memorial and Museum (for second time), Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, the Ghostbusters fire station, USS Intrepid Museum, Madison Square Garden for Knicks-Clippers, bonus strolls in Central Park and Fifth Avenue, and anniversary dinner at a spot in Bryant Park.

- The Intrepid Museum was really cool - I've been to Air and Space/Udvar-Hazy, but walking the deck of an aircraft carrier with fighter jets everywhere, seeing a space shuttle up close, and walking through a cruise missile sub all in one spot in the Harbor was a special kind of cool. Also, were dudes in the 40s and 50s all tiny little manlets (in stature, not bravery)? I'm 5'9" and felt like the 50 Foot Woman walking through there. They have replica helicopters, etc. in the museum you can climb in, and I wasn't sure I would be able to get back out of those because they were not made for tall people. How was David Robinson in the Navy?! It bottles the mind, as they say.

- If you walk through Ellis Island and don't feel awe at the folks who came through, I don't know about you, man. My grandma's dad came through from Sweden in the 20s; I can't imagine the combination of fear and hope he must have felt sailing in and seeing the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline, and knowing that even if he got through the checks at the island without issue, he still had a cross-country journey to California ahead of him. 'Merica.

- Had no clue we were in the City the same weekend as the Marathon until we got there. I can't fathom how the winner ran 26.2 miles in 2:04:58. We walked 30 miles in three days and my hips felt like they were going to explode, and these psychos were walking the city seeing the sights after running that. PTI, are the runners contractually obligated to walk around the city the day after with their medals on? While I get flexing on everyone for running it, it was weird as hell watching people put their medals back on after going through security everywhere.

- There's incredible architecture all over the city, but nothing inspires awe like One World Trade. Really glad we got to see the Memorial at night, too. It hits in daylight, obviously; but it has extra gravitas at night - a la the Korean War Memorial in DC.

- MSG - what can you say, place is unreal. The Knicks fanbase seems to adore Randle and Quickley, which makes me feel all kinds of happy. They also HATE James Harden. I mean hate like he's Osama Bin Laden and it's still 2001. Hilarious. Julius put on a show for us and (inadvertently) exploded Mason Plumlee's knee, so obviously he bleeds blue and he's a Wildcat for life. And Kawhi Leonard is the most awkward human being I've ever seen in real life.

The flow of the NBA compared to college ball...I just don't know how college ball can be fixed. Marcus Camby was courtside and thinking about the difference between his era and now just breaks my heart.

- I'm a dumbass for having a deposition the afternoon we flew back. Never again.

/long
We flew up Sunday AM and came back on Monday. Saw The Shark is Broken play, Bleecker St Pizza, Katz's Deli, then hit Dumpling Galaxy in Queens before flying back.

Queens Chinatown is wild.

I think it’s weird that people have dogs for emotional support. Like, dogs stress me tf out. They don’t calm me down at all. At any minute they could piss/****/vomit/bite/bark/run around. Unless they are completely asleep, dogs give me anxiety.

And another thing. I hope everyone that bitched about the checkerboard is happy now. They basically replaced it on the football uniforms with that dumbass arena league football looking wildcat. I can’t stand that thing. At least the checkerboard was a clean design. I blame mags for that one too.

As a fella that lived on an aircraft carrier for almost 4 years, I can tell you comfort is not that big of a concern. Most folks master bedrooms would sleep 30 to 40 sailors on an AC.

And believe it or not, David Robinson was a submarine guy.
Also believe it or not, I played a couple of games of Galaga with him around 87-88.

I don't really have any issue anymore with the birds having sex wildcat logo.

I have grown partial my son's new college logo. Purple and gold are a fresh color combo.

-I like that logo, but what do we mean by “fresh” here? It’s not a new combo, I remember this one team called the Lakers that used to use it.

-I know my body will adjust but being on the couch ready for bed at 8:15 is pretty dope actually. No problem at all with that.

His style is generally referred to as “country rap,” or some people prefer the completely insufferable “hick hop” moniker.

Daily reminder: there’s a TON of great country music and great artists out there today. You just won’t find them on tv or radio.

Shorts:

- BREAKING NEWS has kind of lost all meaning with these pipsqueak dickhead Millennial sportswriters and news orgs. “Oh Grayson Allen is out tonight against the Bulls with a tweaked ankle? That’s the F’ing breaking news. You got me again, ESPN.”

- Can’t think of much that digusts me more than awards shows - ESPYs, Oscars, etc all trash. Heisman ceremony isn’t bad.

- Was sitting in my living room browsing CatPaw/NY Times the other day- dog laying asleep, daughter semi-quietly playing with her toys and wife on her phone, likely TikTok. Brought me peace and some nostalgia of sitting around as a kid- parents reading the paper, me giggling going through a Calvin & Hobbes book. I think 5 minutes later my daughter was screaming like a banshee acting like a F’ing lunatic again.

- Never been much into the tall model types but how 🔥 was Uma Thurman in Johnny Be Good?

- Kentucky’s an SEC flagship, more $$$ for our already rich educational institutions, owning the ACC!, Sankey’s a boss! SEC had no choice. ETC ETC ETC

But fans are on the business end of all this ****. No more Bedlam. Why? Haven’t heard one good reason.

- Man, media ALL IN trying to sell women’s basketball this year. Tad over-the-top, even disingenuous, but OK I guess. Keep trying, Angel Reese isn’t as compelling as Kyle Tucker and Co. would have you believe.

- BABY MOON at Nemocolin this weekend. I like the concept, hate the connotation and am looking forward to the thought of a relaxing weekend with my deserving wife.

- Anyone watching this NatGeo JFK docuseries (Disney/Hulu)? Outstanding and haunting. Interviews from Secret Service officers on the car, the dude who drove Oswald to work that day- he was carrying a long bag, claimed it was curtain rods.

- Dad always told me he shook JFK’s hand when he was a kid. Sure enough, in this Facebook group that posts old pictures of Newport, there’s JFK in a convertible rolling down Park. Ironically, Bobby Kennedy is the one who busted up the old Cleveland Syndicate-run Newport in the 60s.

- Would be nice if Big Blue had a little magic in them these next 5 days. Could use a double.

- “Tattoos” is Childers’ best song. His finest contribution may come on Colter Wall’s “Fraulein.”

Jelly Roll is obviously super obese and he knows why and has talked about it very often on pods. He struggles drinking and eating, of course.

He seems like a really good dude though from all that I’ve heard on pods. He’s definitely going to die young though of a heart attack/stroke most likely after years of HEAVY drug abuse and overindulgence in everything.

-They’ll be some gals willing to take a gamble probably.

-Speaking of petitions, the FL AG is trying to keep rec marijuana off the vote here next year even though they have a million signatures and the required 16 counties that want it.

Why?

Her reason is that voters won’t know it’s still federally illegal…🙄

Hey guess what toots? We don’t care. If you’re not selling it illegally why would you care? The FBI isn’t raiding my house because I have 2 ounces of weed.

Hell, the FBI was absolutely listening to my phone and reading texts about buying ounces of boomers and weed the last three years while they were monitoring my “brother” for the Jan 6 stuff before they raided his house and they never raided my house in FL or KY.

They’re not worried about personal use.

-Shewboy, T’s remake of the 1989 album is the heat. Almost straight bangers all the way through.

I watched it last night. I worship anything JFK and RFK.

Worth the watch, and I believe Jackie could have easily been the first female president in that time if her husband wasn’t killed.
