OK I’m back. Decompressed. Gained some perspective … perhaps.

- Fun team. Lots of upside.

- Mitchell battled his *** off.

- Edwards played good D.

- Wagner will get better.

- Reeves still thinks he needs to do it all. He’ll learn to trust.

- Cal let us run and shoot 38 threes … and no snide comments afterwards.

- Shep’s outstanding.

- Dillingham will be the best player on the floor at times. Unselfish too. Made mistakes but going under screens on Harris was likely in the scouting report.

- Thiero is who we thought and hoped he was.

- By gawd, we lost because we couldn’t protect the rim and that’s a direct result of missing 3 talented 7-footers.

- We were right there on the glass.

- Kansas needed historic games - no hyperbolic- from three players to beat us.

- It’s November. The future is bright. It’s a new day in Kentucky basketball. Most fun team since 2017.

I think we all miss winning games but, realistically, if you can't see the difference between what happened last night and what's been happening since 2017-2018, then you're just looking to be pissed.

Cal probably coached us out of that one last night to some level and our guys weren't as clutch at the end. Happens.

Yes, because if there's one thing we've learned in the last 8 years it's that Cal will make the necessary lineup adjustments and coaching adjustments to adapt to his roster.

Oh wait...

If you can't see the similarities between last night and every single big game the last 7 years you're just looking to keep your head in the sand.

But hey, THIS YEAR IT WILL BE DIFFERENT!

Honestly I didn’t see the same things cost us the game that I saw the past 5 years.

If you did it’s because you wanted to.

If you didn’t see Rob go low on b2b three’s while our guys played hero ball (Reeves/Rob) and then Shep who I honestly think misread the timing when he got the ball and felt urgency that wasn’t there.

Regardless the last 3 minutes wasn’t a force to the post, nor was it a dribble to the 8 second mark and the drive or feed the post.

The kids just misread and made bad choices.

I can see we will grow from that more than the same mistakes the past 5 years brought.

Well good thing that doesn’t mean as much as it does in college football?

We are 5-8 in the CC, so we were 5-1 before this run.

Again, this loss to me isn’t representative of what we’ve been the past 5 years at all and I ain’t living in the past with this group.

Hope you have fun doing though but it doesn’t seem you are.

Again. They had a 6 point lead with 4:00 to go and proceeded to get outscored 14-3. They started the game down 11-3 before subs were brought in. Literally the same exact issues from the past where Cal refuses to play his best players/lineup until he digs himself a hole they spend the rest of the half climbing out of. It's absolutely maddening.

And these losses do matter. Haven't been a 1 seed since 2015. They get dinged one or two seed lines every GD year because of these losses that are "growing pains" A win last night probably worth 1 seed line come March and potentially first 2 rounds in Indianapolis (I know, eff that city but location wise it's close) and instead they'll end up in Salt Lake City or Spokane

You bring up best lineups……..Rob and Shep kinda cost us the game tho if you are honest with yourself so maybe their flaws to this point don’t make them the best?

Sure I agree on Shep but even still he is not perfect as an 18YO FR and one could argue having him as the leader of the “2nd team”, or whatever you want to call the bench lineups, is going to pay dividends.

Despite shooting bad, I really do not think DJ and Edwards played bad. I get the argument otherwise but we were up 6 with 3:45 to go so it wasn’t all bad.

From that point Rob made bad defensive decisions and a bad 3 point shot, and Reeves missed 2 threes in that same time span. Add in the forced bad three from Shep and that’s 4 misses on 4 bad shots from players I assume you think are our best, in crunch time.

Bottom line you just want to be right on how bad they are or are going to be, and I see slot of potential that could become a F4 team.

Hate that all you want, personally I can’t wait to enjoy it.

Yes, potential to be a F4 team. The magic words of 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and now 2023.

At a certain point it gets tiring. Anger > Apathy. Bookmark all my posts, I pray to God I'm wrong and everyone can Quote Tweet me all they want in March. But starting behind the 8 ball every single GD year gets tiring fast.

Two years ago we were the top 2 seed and were stunned with that upset. I liked that team and the ending was awful but the season wasn’t IMO.

17 was Fox/Monk? That season was very good.

One of those others was Maxey/Quick and we were solid then before COVID stopped the tournament.

So 3 of the 6 years we were at least a high 2 seed and basically top 8 in the country.

Just pointing out you post as if it’s all similar to the 9-16 season when we’ve had some success, and you do so in an overbearing way that seemingly gets worse unless 100% of everyone agree.

We have no control here, so try to enjoy it as a fan, or don’t I guess, clearly!

I give up. I'm done harping on Kansas. If this was a one-off performance it would be one thing but once again we're counting on blind faith that it will be different this time.

7 straight years losing one of the first 3 games. Playing from behind for seeding every year. It adds up.

It's not fun making the exact same posts about the exact same **** 7 years in a GD row. Maybe this time I'll be proven wrong instead of 7 straight years of straight, concise, correct, accurate posts about the "Gold Standard of College Basketball"

And no, that wasn't modern offense. It was no offense. At least they missed from 3 instead of from one foot inside the 3 point line!

We lost to the number one team in America on November 14 with an 8 man roster. That was not a bad loss and, to me, does not foretell issues with this team.

Calipari has slipped in the last few years. That is no secret. But things look to be improving and this squad looks like it has real potential, especially if Bradshaw plays. I don't think it will cost us a seed if we otherwise take care of business.

Obviously Calipari is in put up or shut up mode when it comes to his legacy here but this squad was never going undefeated and we took Kansas to the mat. The bitching seems to me to be more about the past than this actual team. I'm optimistic about this squad and the future of the program.

* There are a lot of guys named Doron in the Israeli Defense Forces. That bodes well for their shooting in crunch time, imo.

* We don't have another late weekday tip until February 6 at Vandy, and that's at 8:30 so it isn't that bad.

Big fan.

* Beat the Cocks. Ha. Ha. Ha.

-I REALLY hope we pick back up this morning arguing whether that game mattered and if Cal is good or not. It’s RIVETING.

-Gym trainer gal… smh. Came in the afternoon yesterday (usually here at 5a) and the gal that wanted to grab a coffee with me rolls in with a dude. All good, whatever.

She then introduces me to her “boyfriend” giving me a look like “please don’t say anything, be cool” so I was, shook his hand said hello and have a great workout.

She texts me 5 minutes later saying “sorry I was going to tell you. We just moved here because we were having problems in NJ and thought a move would help, it hasn’t. I definitely want to get coffee and hangout but I still live with my boyfriend and technically we are together.”

Jesus Hardin County Christ. I said all good, enjoy. See you around.

So yeah that’s not happening now.

Guess it’s back to the 5’ 1” gal that’s here at 4:45a every morning, mentioned doing some yoga to me and told her about my spot, as well as the Stretch Zone I’m going to at 10a today.

She’s never been so 🤞 I can get her to go Sunday.

-Second interview with a GM today at a bar on SP Beach @ 3. Why can’t these people do things earlier? I was hoping to be on my couch smoking weed with my dog playing Risk on my iPad by then like a cool person.

I’ll take it for now because it’s on the beach but a 20 min drive to work is not why I moved here. All good, owner of the sports bar downtown told me I’d be on there by March at the latest when they ramp up for MM & baseball season.

-Stoked to be in a real sports town that absolutely loses their **** over their teams. Bolts have been on an almost decade (I think) long run of excellence.

Bucs we’re good with Brady and still beloved.

Rays are really good and just a damn fun time. Downtown is packed even when the games aren’t.

-Snagged tickets with my boy, his gf and an extra for me for Segura in March at Amalie arena. Hopefully I’ll find a lass by then that would want to go.

-First Costco run today, stoked.

You guys have more faith that getting our big men back won’t clog up the rotation and floor than I do.

Edwards Mitchell Bradshaw. That’s your starting 3 4 and 5 once healthy. Wagner getting 25+ minutes at point every game.

Do you guys really think he is gonna go three guards once Bradshaw is back? Two of Shep, Rob, Wagner, Reeves. Three of thiero edwards Mitchell, 7 footers.

He was forced to play small. When our full roster is available we will see more minutes with a twin tower look than we will seeing three of reeves DJ Rob Shep on the floor at the same time

Taking my daughter to get an MRI on her knee today. She hurt it while golfing during the HS season but wouldn't go to the doctor because she was afraid they wouldn't let her finish the season out. We finally got her to go after season and he ordered this MRI. He thinks it could be her meniscus or MCL so she's hoping it's an issue that rest and physical therapy will take care of without the need for surgery.

I get this, and when it happens then I’ll share in the frustrations, but I’ll also be curious if Mitchell at the 4 isn’t a good thing. The kid can play and hit shots so he’d be ok there.

It’s not that I don’t love small ball, but if we face KU again(or several other teams) it isn’t like they don’t have Dickinson/Adams and some size wouldn’t have helped.

Also from what I saw Bradshaw isn’t the type of player to camp in the lane like Oscar was or the some of the bigs before him.

Of course this will sound like a defense of Cal and his system to those that love to complain and *****.

-small tear of an acl in my mid 20's. Doc misdiagnosed originally... by the time she figured it out it was already "on the mend". A little PT and back at it.

^point being, at her age if it happened a while back... pt and rest could hopefully do the trick. Here's to hoping the doc doesn't have child support/student loan payments to make.

-I get wanting a reset, and be optimistic this early in the season, but chumps is dead on. In a bubble, sure, Tuesday's game was fine. In the realm of John Calipari's tenure, it's another frustrating loss to a major rival, and a missed early season resume builder. Also, surrounded by mysterious injuries and players we don't know will ever actually step on the court.

-How soft is Reeves shot? Just floats like a cloud. I worship.

-Uncle D.K. taught G a floater on Saturday. Put it to good use last night at practice a couple times. True triple threat these days.

-I thought DJ showed plenty of ability to get to the rim. He takes kinda weird angles though and obviously not finishing. Feel like he's drifting away from the rim on a lot of floaters/layups. He needs to knock down a few 3s.

-Saturday is one of the bigger games in HFCMS's time at UK. Loss to this USC team would be pretty hard to stomach. Time to buck up.

That Dilly stretch capped off by Reeves was really something...and agree with Geese about the pass when he had a wide open shot for himself. Love it.

Burks also really stood out to me. Notice the 1st 2 shots, dude made quick heady passes out, and his celebrations as the balls went up/through made me smile. He truly made both of those plays happen. Kid really plays hard, and has a pretty solid feel & embracing his role as just a pure team guy.

Obviously not ideal to NEED him this year, but will surely pay dividends down the road if we can get a 2nd+ year. Really think he'll be a damn good college player in time (for someone).

My concern was the Adou comment about having fun until the last TV timeout and then got tight. That has been the real bugaboo in against elite teams the last several years. The reason we scored 1 point the last 3 minutes to KU's 11.
That’s what happens when every year you are dealing with a brand new group. Whether it is freshman or guys that aren’t used to being in the spotlight.
