Solid decision to do jack **** about cell reception inside CWS with this upgrade.

**unless you're big $$$, then you'll get wifi access

Yeah, screw the little guy.

Thinking about switching to Verizon from AT@T for this very reason. It is maddening.

DocBoat- you are the most Ohio guy I've ever met, considering your tastes and manner. All you're missing is some ill-advised tats (calves and shoulder) and a pair of AirMax and you'd be pure Dayton/Columbus.

Actually have Airmax on right now. Not into tats though.

Sober Weekend Randoms: o_O

-Sad to say, but I can't remember the last time I didn't catch a buzz on a weekend. Years?

-Quick trip up to Lex Saturday to see Baby George. Little man is a cutie, no surprise there. His little facial expressions and muffled cries are hilarious. Schems seem to be settling in as parents pretty smoothly, it was impressive. Also, George has big noots.

...hit up Smithtown/West 6th for a beer & lunch on the way back. Really cool little place in there.

-Sunday: 12 Man golf game with 'A' players...gonna be a regular thing the rest of the summer, pretty pumped about that.

2 over after 3...before getting all the way back to -1 after 15. Couldn't hold on. 3 putt 16 for bogey, and missed an 8 footer for birdie on 17 and a 6 footer for birdie on 18. Still, even par 72, my best round out there. Hit 13/14 fairways and 15/18 greens. Don't think I've ever hit the ball better in my life. Who knows if that carries over to the Eli (doubtful), but my goal is 150 or better and to thump Killa. First time I've actually been able to strike a golfball consistently since my college days.

-Anova is [smoke], thing just produces perfect food every single time.

-B.A. is back w/ a Paul Pierce impersonation. [laughing] He nails all the subtleties of these guys so damn well...just hilarious.

-Jamal Murray tho. With respect to Ulis, he'll be our best/most indespensible player next year without question, imo. Ulis is the man & unquestioned team leader, and will be one of the best in the nation. However, have 3 point guards (4 counting Dom) who are capable of running a team. Jamal is the one thing we needed, a guy who can get buckets from the wing & flat stroke it.

Silly thing to talk about I guess, just saying, Murray special. Really special. Like Geese, I'm as pumped to watch next year's team as I have been maybe ever.

Mulder is the forgotten man on this team, especially since the Murray pickup. Really hoping he can thrive in his role of a shooter off the bench, and I don't see any reason why he won't. He's not a freshman.

-Little brother Alex, who's my Dad's son that I met a few months ago, has his Bar Exams Tuesday & Wednesday. Damn, that's hard to believe....proud of the little (huge) fella.

Respect knucks to Smoltz for his speech yesterday. Let your kid play some different sports, and quit working young guys to a point where high school kids are having Tommy John surgery. Seems pretty simple- its a shame some people dont get it.

I know it's damn near impossible to run a Golden State-style offense with a college team, but we should try to get as close as we can. This team is built to spread the floor and get up and down the court.

Jones:

The surprise of the summer has been Mychal Mulder, who virtually everyone believes is better than they thought he would be. He was brought in to shoot, but his athleticism has been a pleasant surprise. During pickup games, he has had a couple of instances of apparently eye-popping athleticism and his game is much more well-rounded than we believed. I am told that the idea of him starting (potentially with Ulis and Murray as well) is being floated about, an idea that would have been insane to many just a few weeks back

:)

...
am kinda torn about Murray and the Olympic deal or whatever. Really like him to get to campus, if he goes that route he won't arrive til September.

Probably why Bonzo quit going imo.

Not sure dude ever saw more than a handful of plays the few times he sat with me back in the day, including 2nd row at Jordan-Hare. Whatever was on his phone must have been TURBO interesting.

If you give more money to the University, you get nicer amenities.

Some of you guys sound like couples on House Hunters who can't figure out why living closer to the city makes the houses more expensive.

I rail on Female Sports Fan a lot, and for good reason. They're not all turrible, but I'd say 90% who would identify themselves as such just don't get it. Yesterday, I saw a perfect example. For some reason I read the comments below the Enquirer's Facebook post about the Reds trading Cueto for 3 prospects (which was a- necessary and exactly what the Reds should have done and b- all in all a good haul according to the Baseball Guy). Anyway, lots of comments underneath bashing the Reds for trading Cueto for a bunch of nobodies- the majority of which were females.

Look, Female Sports Fan, go to the games if you want. Wear your teams' colors. Woohoo all you want. But leave serious discussion to the dudes.

Like I said, there are exceptions including a few here in GYERO, but for the most part, I'm dead-on and it's nauseating.

The comments of a news story (Facebook or on the website itself) are unbelievable in general...can't think of another place that attracts the worst of society more than those.

It's hard to quit reading sometimes.

Anyone remember the capaw get-together at The Spaghetti Factory in Louisville? [laughing]

Can't even remember what it was for, but do vaguely remember it. Must have been 15 years ago. Think JDrum or someone set it up.
Rondo and Oak Hill coming to town? Rondo had like 28 assists.

BBdK, you may be interested in one of these, although maybe not since you've got the Anova. I saw this the other day, and as long as the reviews say it does what it says it will do, I'm ALL-IN whenever it comes out.

The whole state of Ohio can GGF. We had been playing Central/Eastern Kentucky Little League teams all summer with zero problems. Then this team out of Hamilton Ohio comes in and are total ********. Constant gamesmanship, fans fighting each other and coaches arguing with each other and other team's coaches. We beat those asshats and now the whole state of Ohio can DIAF except maybe Willy unless he comes on here to take up for that ****** state.

I know it's damn near impossible to run a Golden State-style offense with a college team

Blame CBB and the NCAA for allowing it to become a **** product because it really shouldn't be that hard to run something similar to GSW. Bring your mobile big to set a high ball screen and let it evolve from there. Whip it around the perimeter and keep the ball moving. Attack the open space. It should be redundant but drive/draw/dish is what the game needs to be predicated upon but yet so few teams really do it.

Think AP could really thrive in a Draymond Green-type role for us. (don't run w/ it, it's not a true player comp) Guarding multiple positions, creating mismatches, attacking bigs off 1 or 2 bounces, energy/off rebound guy, etc...

I understand the archaic rules and the way the college game is officiated will prevent a lot of the same results GSW produced but there's no reason why we can't help change the plodding culture of CBB. I'm still up in the air whether or not the 30 second clock will hurt/help.(Decourcy has beat a dead horse on this) Teams will now start to zone the **** out of everyone so I'm afraid that may hurt offensive flow for a lot of teams. Fortunately we'll be a very good outside shooting team so that will keep teams somewhat honest.

(IR)regardless, it should be an extremely fun season if our coach lets them truly FAIL FAST and commit to a true offensive UNLEASHING of the DDMO at the expense of maybe losing a few games. Trust the process and let these guys effing attack. I'm extremely optimistic he will. The OMGZ 40-0 burden won't be hovering over these guys so there should be less pressure on them to 'not lose' ball games.

Yeah, the Anova is flawless that I can see & Kenji endorsed...that looks cool though. It's the exact same thing, only the Anova is 1/2-1/3 the cost, and small & easy to store away.

The most fun part is Vacuuming the bags with my new Food Saver. Love that thing, should cut down on the RIDICULOUS amount of food we waste...

-Did a few plump chicken breasts last night for work lunches...the kind that are so thick they are virtually impossible to keep juicky. 2 hours at 140, flash sear...came out as juicy as thigh meat. Thing really is incredible.

Kenji has a nice breakdown on how you can actually cook chicken at 140-150 for an hour or two Sous Vide and reach the same safeness as the 'required' 165, and explains the science behind it -- the results are fantastic.

Proud of my 5 year old son. I think he's come up with a pretty cool insult that will come in handy for him when he begins kindergarten next week.

Anytime something happens that he doesn't like he says, "Ya' weird." Now, I know it's not as classic as "yo' mama" or as blunt as "ya' face" but it's just the right amount of superiority without being too much of an offensive a-hole. I've even used it on my MIL, which was met with a few seconds of surprise and then amusement.

Little man is going to earn some cool points on the mini-playground, or be in the principal's office a lot.

Per Mikel Horton, Mikel Horton came in at 245/14%, and is down to around 220/8%

Exaggerated, I'm sure...but that's a pretty dramatic makeover. People sleeping on him a bit heading into this season?

Remember in the 90's when John Chaney and his style of play were kind of like the black sheep of college basketball? The zone defense, slow down offense and the goons he'd throw out there to rough up the game?

Here we are in 2015 and I feel like MOST coaches now coach this way, including Pitino, who in the 90's was the kind of pretty offense.

Somewhere along the lines coaches realized that if they don't have the horses to compete with the Kentucky, Carolina, Duke, and Kansas type teams with pure talent then they should muck up the game with zone defense, less possessions, and non stop grabbing/hacking.

No clue if the 30 second shot clock will have a positive impact but the major emphasis on freedom of movement and not allowing guards to ride a player on defense *should* improve the offensive flow of the game and will greatly benefit a team like we have this year. Then again they tried this 2 years ago and then went back to old way by late December.

You'll see a lot more zones with a 30 second shot clock. What Pitino does now with his 2-3 matchup that morphs into m-2-m will become more common.

It'll take an offense out of their half court rhythm. By the time the guards realize it's a zone, boom, they're in man and you have 8-5 seconds to get a shot. Good scouting and a good PG helps, but it still takes away the rhythm - especially when little water bug guards pick you up at half court and hip check you all the way to the coach's box.

Sober Weekend Randoms: o_O
-Quick trip up to Lex Saturday to see Baby George. Little man is a cutie, no surprise there. His little facial expressions and muffled cries are hilarious. Schems seem to be settling in as parents pretty smoothly, it was impressive. Also, George has big noots.

...hit up Smithtown/West 6th for a beer & lunch on the way back. Really cool little place in there.

-Anova is [smoke], thing just produces perfect food every single time.

#EliWeek

-MCF and BBdk came down and both, admittedly or not, are on the clock. It may not happen in the next year but it won't be much after that. Funny seeing their eyes and remembering that exact feeling. Not going to lie, the 1st 2 weeks sucked but now it's getting easier everyday.

-West 6th, while their beer isn't my favorite(Blue Stallion), is just a great setup. I saw the Legacy Trail is almost complete where it will run literally right next to the building just like Katy trail. They're doing some fun stuff. I'm sure 80 has a ton more info.

-Guess I'm going to buy one. Just waiting for the next discount sale to save $50. Foodsaver arrives today, we've needed one of those for years. We waste so much stuff and we freeze a ton of stuff as well.

- Tell Memommie I'm sorry I couldn't make it and KC I hope he feels better.

The comments of a news story (Facebook or on the website itself) are unbelievable in general...can't think of another place that attracts the worst of society more than those.

It's hard to quit reading sometimes.

-Facebook comments is the Commonwealth Stadium Ramps at halftime of the internet. It's made me question life and our existence several times. The generations ahead of our age don't fully grasp the reach of social media, it's apparent.

-Anything more predictable than Willis/ Mulder tearing it up in summer practice?

Yeah, he wrote it Sunday night. Thought is was funny when I read your analysis this morning. What a coincidence.

Anth loves showing off his quote skills.

-I went Shrimp Po boy, lass got the beer-battered Fish & Chips platter. Was pretty unreal, but heavy enough we didn't eat again the rest of the day after that 2:30 late lunch...ugh.

-At least the Willis reports are related to the work he's putting in, more than his game. He's always been a great 'practice report' player, but sounds like he's actually taking it seriously for once. Guess we'll see, but my hopes will never be up for that guy until I see it.

****. Lemme know when Willis contributes. Hood had a couple of special moments.

Hoodie > anyone

-6.5 years in the game slangin insurance, and finally suffered my first dog bite while inspecting a home this morning. Couple of small dogs came out to greet me, then about 2 minutes later a Doberman comes flying around a corner out of nowhere and did a swan dive into my chest...put my hand down as a natural reaction to shield myself and he got my pinky, drew blood. Took off in a full sprint and he ripped the back of my shirt in pursuit....was seriously scary as ****. Off to get a tetanus shot...

Amazed it hasn't happened before, although I've had a few close calls.
