Have we reached a point politically where the truly good, decent, smart people have collectively decided that the headache isn't worth it to run for office, leaving us with a satchel of turds to lead us? It sure feels that way. It seems like anyone who runs for major office now is either sociopathic, addled, evil, or a moron.
Yes. The guy leading in the polls is harassing the guy in second place because he won't release his personal taxes to the public for basically no good reason at all. I really don't give a **** about any of the three of the candidates' taxes. Just seems petty and stupid. They all have to comply with campaign finance laws. That will tell the tale of who is wagging the dog.

That little hill was 19,300'. The Land Cruisers stopped at 4,000. 40 mile hike/scramble almost all above 10k feet.
Now the porters did the heavy lifting and are badasses, but yeah, go ahead bubby and try it out. You can do it minimal and carry your own stuff. It's an amazing time. Watching the sun come up sitting on a cliff 19k feet above sea level over clouds that are about 1.5 miles vertically below you is really cool. Watching a thunderstorm from above it is awesome as well. I would highly suggest that trip to anyone.
I'd have no desire doing one of the big big mountains like Denali or Everest. I would do something a little taller and more technical but nothing more dangerous. I just hate camping. It sucks. I like beds and running water, showers, room service.
Several of the Everest books are great and yeah tons of people are still up there. Until very recently you couldn't really get them off the mountain and entire teams perished together. It's overcrowded and overhiked at this point.

Everest is absolutely selfish. 60K minimum. 3 months away and 10-20% chance you die or at least lose fingers/toes.

I just said, “Yo man, can I go in?” The guy said, “No,” and I was like, “Dude, You’re not gonna let Homer the ******’ mascot into your bar right now?” Then he said I could go in. There was nobody on the dance floor. I come sliding in and start getting it. I was doing all the moves you always wanted to try but are too embarrassed to."
