From the football board-

Marcus McClinton had a little rant on Facebook last night:

"Freshmen Year In College; I Had An Attitude That Scared People; But I Was A Winner; First, I Had Ervin Flowers And Warren Wilson, Take Me In An Empty Meeting Room And Attempt To Scare Me Straight; lol. I was a lil scared too. I'll beat they a** now...lol Then I Had Mitch Barnhart Tell Me That People Didn't Like My Attitude Around Campus; And I Better Change It Or I Wouldn't Be At UK Long; Then He Started Inviting Me To Church; I Went A Few Times. At That Point; I Started To Become One Of Them. A Loser. I Was Recruited Because Of My Leadership Ability And My Fearless, Bullish, Winner Attitude. And That's The First Thing I Had To Change; STOP MENTALLY BREAKING THESE WINNERS DOWN! LET THEM PLAY! LET THEM BE WHO THEY ARE! - it ain't the coach, it ain't the fans, it ain't the 5 star recruit, it ain't because UK is a basketball school. IF YOU WANNA WIN, hire the attitude, recruit the attitude, AND Don't be Scare of It ~ unfinished"

Here's another post from him:

"I know. It makes me angry. That's why I say, they are broken! This is not what we recruited! UK domesticate their football players, we are given standards and are tamed..lol - so don't expect a bucking bronco on the field."

"The whole squad was losers on the field. We sucked. When you except losing, you a loser, and a bunch of guys on the team accepted losing and had a losing attitude, judging by their work effort and off the field lifestyles. All across the board. Even though it was good players. So to answer the question, I'm referring to everyone from the AD to the n**** that paints the field. Yes we got upset, corrected mistakes, kick people off of the team, but at the end of the day, The SEC and the world outside of BBN, saw the dumb mistakes that lost big games, the INT, the missed tackles, the bad calls, bro, this post ain't about you or Warren, or the person who called you, it's about an attitude that KY has, both players and fans and the Attitude it Needs, which determines winners and losers."

We definitely suck because we don't let guys run around campus like wild animals terrorizing and acting like ********.
There are plenty of really good football players that can change their mentality on and off the field. Im not sure that argument carries much weight. You can be a solid player and a decent person at the same time.

While we're at it:

Fournette: 91 yards, 4.8 ypc, 1td
Henry: 204 yards, 9.3 ypc, 2td
Cook: 138 yards, 6.3, 2td

Henry now has more yards and TD's. Cook is closing in on both with a lot less carries. Fournette is a BEAST but CFB has some serious RB talent this year. Pretty hard to pick b/w the top 3-4. Stick to long distance jogwalking.

The staff must be really poor at adjustments in the season. Only thing that can explain this. Teams get a little tape and info on us and attack our weaknesses. We get progressively worse. Teams like Arkansas and UL get progressively better. I really don't see any staff changes coming. What is scary, seems to be the overall lack of awareness from the staff. Like, well we just played some tough teams and the overall progression is fine. We just gotta try harder, catch more, run faster, make better decisions. Stoops isn't a dummy, his family has coached all over, he knows whats going on and the criticism is fair.

Coaching lost that game yesterday. Period. That's tough to swallow.

That was a season ending loss, IMO. I guess they'll beat Charlotte, but no bowl is happening. Sucks, because UL is decidedly mediocre.

This season turned on that WTF run play call on 2nd down with under a minute to go with no timeouts against Auburn. Simple as that. The whole season went to **** on that goddammed play call.

I think it was something that happened between Missouri and EKU. I guess you could point to the Boom deal. I don't know but it's been decidedly diffeffernt ever since. Basically the offense has been atrocious.

So Stoops is guaranteed his contract if he's fired "without cause" before 12/1/17. The past several pages have listed tons of examples of coaching WTF moments. I don't know if they'd be labeled as gross negligence of coaching duties, but this downward spiral of coaching performance would feel like a cause for termination in other professions.

I know it's an exaggeration, but I guess the point is that these "without cause" terms in coaching contracts don't feel much like 'real world' employment agreements. If you were in over your head and showing signs of underperforming in your job, your employer might eventually terminate you... with cause.

After hearing Stoops on Matt's show and seeing this fourth game of suck. I am done with this season., 100 % focused on basketball. Also after Eliott gave that quote, he needs his jaws slapped. The one bright spot is the recruiting Stoops is doing. But I cant imagine this class sticking together after this.

I think Stoops would be a mighty fine positions coach here. But he will be the HNIC for the next few years. Hopefully he will make some staff changes.

The Charlotte game is going to be ugly attendance wise and rightfully so.

Stoops isn't going anywhere, but he needs to reassess everything after this season. And I mean everything. Ending this season 5-7 means any benefit of the doubt he has with the fanbase is gone. Beating UL and going 6-6 would help, but there are still serious questions. My faith that he knows what he's doing is shaken no matter what.

Fire him now and good f*cking luck getting anyone worth a ****. There is a 0% chance Mitch fires him unless he literally drops his pants and ***** at mid field.
November 28th, about 5 minutes before kickoff...

You can't fire him nor should you after 3 years with 5 wins. ****, it's hard enough hiring here as it is. From where we were he should get 4 seasons without a doubt BUT the honeymoon is over. He blew a hell of an opportunity and lost a lot of goodwill with the fan base in the manner it was done. The entire East is down, Auburn was as beatable as a West team you can ask for, UL is down, Vandy is a dumpster, 8 home games. Unless he goes 2-10 or 3-9 next year I think he is actually safe until 2017.

He needs to forget whatever it is they're trying and pour everything they got into UL. Pull out all the stops. He has nothing to lose. Whatever their intuition is, just do the f*cking opposite. Just go balls to the wall. Also don't allow stupid trick play touchdowns or fades from the 1 yard line.

The scuttlebutt on the trick play was somebody saw it, told Elliott, but he wasn't able to tell stoops in time to do anything about it...so epic fail basically.

Honestly I wonder if we wouldn't be better served Tecmo Bowling our offense and narrowing down the playbook. Of course if you're gonna do that you need to do the simple things like catch a ball so whatevs I guess.

I love how people keep saying "make our play book smaller". We shotgun draw or sweep, and we either bubble screen, quick slant or hitch, and throw deep. Everything else is dependent on a Towles scramble.

I legitimately think the reason Barker was pulled was because when he tucked and ran he couldn't keep his head up in case a WR got loose. That is a huge part of this offense and Towles has covered the poor play calls to a degree by doing so.

I seriously question not having a coordinator, 1st time coordinator, up in the booth to get a better look at what he is calling! It's got to be easier to understand at least what the defense is trying to do.

I find it odd that DJ seemed to be banished to the booth about midway through the season. Does anyone know the scuttlebutt as to what really happened there. Elliott claims Stoops told him he could see everything better. While I agree, I found the comment odd at the time. And why is Dawson not up in the booth?

Being a ****** coach is not "with cause" unless wins and losses are explicitly listed as duties.

"With Cause" is things like publicly cheating on your wife, or presiding over a program that hired whores to recruit for you. With sex. And whores. That's "with cause" everywhere but the most disgusting university on the planet.

I do not think they should be talking about firing Stoops. 4 years minimum unless some BCG type stuff is going on.

If what's been posted about his contract is true, Stoops can go 0-12 next year and he'll still be back.

rich brooks should be fired. worst coach ever. ditch mitch and rich.

-year3

Ok. That's not any sort of point but I will take the bait.

In the 2003 offseason, Ron Hudson (or as I like to call him "That guy who put Lorenzen at wide receiver") "resigned" and the ship seemed to right itself.

If Dawson isn't sent packing this year and we don't hire a special teams coordinator, that's basically that.

Agree on all counts and definitely not advocating for "let's fire him" talk. It's just interesting that the cause/without cause bar in these multi-million dollar coaching contracts is how it is. If you were not performing well at selling insurance, installing HVAC units or administering anesthesia, the 'cause' bar might be different... even if you were trying your best.

New week - on to Duke atkot.

Dawson isn't getting fired. Three offensive coordinators in three years for a first time head coach wouldn't be helping the situation. Eliot might get let go but I'd be surprised if that happens. Stoops is the defensive coordinator. We've got a whole lotta on the job training going on and it sucks.

I'm definitely all for handing the ball off to Bo Jackson and have him zig zag down the field for 90 yard touchdowns.

Yeah it is true. and barring a UL basketball-like stripper/***** discovery, or him laying down a motorcycle with a blonde HPOA on the back he will be coaching into his 5th season.

it sucks, I was #allin on the guy, thought everything he did & said was setting us up perfectly to be far better than we have been since the dirty cheating team of the late 70's. It is clear now that Barnhart hiring for a 2nd straight time a 1st time head coach is a monumentally awful decision. Shoulda hired another Claiborne or Brooks, a graybeard who might not be exciting or cool but knows what the touch to do on Saturday's.

and good luck all the fan theories on firing Dawson, firing Elliot, firing this coach or that one. Ask Tennessee & Dooley how that goes, a head coach on the hot seat facing a desperate must-win season trying to hire quality assistants usually works out about as well as you expect. Hello Joker hiring that defensive coordinator who was assistant linebacker coach at Indiana State.

- Cutcliffe wasn't leaving Duke

- The ST coordinator fascination is hilarious. We had two of them before this year and the results were virtually the exact same. Of all of Stoops' faults, this is somehow rising to the top for some.
