I think you are missing the point. There are a lot of people in GYERO (a group maniacally obsessed with UK sports) who are openly talking about giving up on UK football support until the team shows some results.

And not just in a sarcastic manner, either, so far as I can tell. That's a dangerous place for the athletics program to be with its cash cow.

I'm not missing any points. I've heard this **** for 20 years. UK football is a constant cycle of f***ery. We're never going to be good. Never. How do you people not get this? How do you still have it in you to be outraged? This isn't new. This is the same ol' ****.

hate hate HATE to pull the PTI contrarian act, but unlike him I'm doing it with reason and not just to be a dick wanting to start arguements. But this isnt anything new with UK football fans, this isnt the straw that broke the camels back. Some people will give up tickets or following the team or whatever, but the vast majority will be back in the fold in 2016. Good recruiting class lead by 2 instate nationally hyped linemen in Young & Jackson will start the feel-good season early next year.

No doubt the talking points from Nutter Ctr beginning in March & April will be about how the attitude is SO much better now, the team is REALLY together! Like the lameass stories from UL basketball about the team going to a movie ALL TOGETHER! For the FIRST TIME! And they will have been working harder that ever before, practice schedule will be changed to perfectly balance learning with not getting hurt.

They will rope us back in. They always have for 30+ years of mostly a mediocre to awful product.

Somebody find the puppy scent article from KSR. 14 years ago.

I was at the BW3'w in Hamburg and when he hit that 3 our half drank pitcher went flying across the floor.

Which isn't the point. The point is we still suck, but things are different now and here are the things that are different, followed by a list. I'd love to see someone do a side by side comparison of the cost of four season tickets and a parking pass for 2006 v. 2016 along with a comparison of the TV coverage from 2005 and 2015, as the next season's schedule isn't set yet. I think the differences would be very noticeable.

I was in Rupp- lower arena, student section. LOUDEST specific moment I've ever heard Rupp. Other games were louder throughout, but the roof blew off when he pulled #5.

Can't believe I'm saying this BUT some of you have gone off the deep end. You're acting like we were 0-12. Yes, the end of the season was a complete disaster and the staff has some issues but we did manage to win 5 games. Why on earth would this be the breaking point with our putrid past?

Also, none of you still talking about it are giving up the program. In fact I think several aren't even current ticket holders.

I don't blame you for erasing the 2012 season from your memory.

I paid about $1250 for 4 tickets in Section 108 and a Purple Lot Pass when I first met everyone here.

Section 108 is now Section 5. K Fund is $450 per seat + the 4 tickets. Season tickets are $300/per? Parking Pass is what $300? So basically we're looking at $3000+ for the same product.

Gave mine up before 2012. Was going to get them back this season, but wife talked me out of it. Said it was stupid to pay that much money for tickets when you can almost always get them for virtually nothing the week of the game.

Also, she was 100% correct. We went to half the home games this season and paid a total of $100.00 for tickets.

I remember when Brooks lost to Ohio. I never leave a game early. I got up mid 3Q and walked out. I said I would give a **** when the team gave a ****. Kinda back to that point with me.

Add to that the mess down to CWS. Was offered seats in the sweet for the Mizzou game. Said no. It was easier to watch on TV than deal with the cluster at CWS.

I'm about 99% sure I'm not renewing my season tickets and this is why. It's just too easy to get tickets when you want them.

Exactly and the place was packed the first 5 games in 2015. No one is done with the program. We're all pissed but don't be silly. If you were done you wouldn't be talking about it.

Isn't the TV money more than enough to make up for ****** attendance these days?

THIS! If you aren't in the premium seats, why would you ever do anything other than this. Tickets will be available and in most cases, at about 1/3 of the cost. I've had season tickets for years and will continue to go....but I sure as ish won't be paying full price.

Season tickets are basically a source of pride (LOL), but they most certainly are not necessary for UK Football. It's really pretty stupid that I still have mine...sat w/ Uncle Ben every game but 1, per usual.

At first, the 'convenience' factor of having tickets in place every week seemed nice...but in reality all you have to do is Respond to someone's Facebook post or keep a $20 handy on the way into the stadium --- and you're golden.

Family had season tickets starting in 1990--took us 14 seasons to score a blue lot pass were about two dozen of family friends tailgated together.

We all were then moved to different locations (red, then orange).

Two years ago they sent us to the purple which was on the other side of the stadium away from friends and we let the tix go.

The small things the UK Athletic Department does goes a long way in pissing off the loyal fans.
I know a good number of people up here (not exactly poors either) that have similar complaints- splitting up groups, moving parking, etc. and they're letting their tickets go as well.

It's not the fact that things got split up- that's understandably gonna happen. But from what I gather it's the way the athletic department's attitude was "take it or leave it" that pissed them off. It sounds like there's little to no accommodation for some fans- and again, these aren't nosebleed seats, but they're not loge either.

But live sports in general- especially ones that depend on a lot of people traveling significant distances like UK- are being hurt by the TV quality and availability. If you have a large group that's been meeting up at UK football games from different areas of the state, and you can't do that anymore, why bother going? Meet up somewhere else.

Lexington getting in on the hot chicken game. Pair that with the giant portal to hell downtown and I can safely say Lexington is "up and coming"

So I looked it up and according to Wikipedia, in 2005 (Brooks' third season) there was no live TV for three of the six home games. There was also no live TV for two of the five road games and one of the remaining three road games was only available on PPV. Basically half the games weren't on live TV and this was only a decade ago. Going to the games actually afforded you the chance to see the team. Now we're on every week on the road and at home.

- It is remarkable how poor of a writer Seth Davis is. Every time I read that idiot's column, I smh.

- I grin every time I think about all 5'9" of Ulis pushing 7-foot Skal. Best leader we've had at UK in a long time.

- I have gotten remarkably better at putting regular season losses behind me in the last 10-15 years. Proud of myself. Maturity, bro.

- Oklahoma is good, really good, but they're not going to hit 14 threes every night.

- Can't imagine how annoying and chippy Louisville fans have been since Thursday. Hope we shove it up their *** again in 18 days.

- Some good movies at or coming to the theaters right now- "Night Before," "Spotlight," "Creed," the Tina Fey/Amy Pohler flick, etc.

Noone is going to "give up" on the program. But when people can watch the games for free on TV, it's competition for discretionary income. I think the fear of "if we give up these seats we'll never get them back!" is gone based on past experiences as well as the fact some people lost "their" seats/parking passes, etc. anyway with the renovation.

Same thing happened when the Reds and Bengals moved stadiums, were awful for years.

Was the 2006 Georgia game really not on TV? It's hard to believe less than 10 years ago a game like that wasn't. I bought a single lower level ticket to that game for $10 from the old man who always scalped next to the bus stop in the Blue lot.

Who's your Heisman? I've got to go with McCaffery over Watson. Henry is a beast but what makes him any different than the awesome Bama backs before him?

According to Wikipedia it wasn't. Looks like only one home game in 2006 was on live TV and another on PPV. It starts showing local live coverage beginning in 2007.

Also in 2006, our basketball program was a fresh pile of steaming dogshit and nobody was being asked to spend $1,500 on a destination basketball game in November, non-Maui years.

Yeah, I will agree the last thing they wanted was a flop after the reseat. A bunch of people kept seats through the really bad years because they were attached to those seats for some reason. Piss a bunch off by moving them then pull the rug out from under them. At least Joker was awful at hyping the season up so expectations were low.

Obviously I'm speculating, as is everyone else, but things have changed so much since Rich Brooks was in this same situation ten years ago. Live sports are suffering across the board. It's not just a Kentucky thing. That's why I really do think keeping asses in seats this time is going to be such a struggle for the athletic department even when UK fans have historically continued to come back to watch a bad product.
