I'm pretty sure "Todd Niederstein" was a solid clue.

I'm sure he and TOMMA JURCH would have a lot to discuss, though.

Lol, wife just called me in tears from Portland airport. Of course the one time she flies solo, it's the worst flight she's experienced. 2:50 from Denver to Portland and they couldn't even have drink service it was so bad until under an hour to landing...lol, Poor thing.

She had a nice older couple beside her who were comforting her the entire way, but I feel sorry for Grandpa...said she grabbed the old man's arm instinctively multiple times on the big bumps -- as recipient of those panic grabs before, I'm sure that poor old fella will be nice and bruised tomorrow.

I have a fragile one. :flushed:

Flights across the Rockies can be rough. I can usually handle turbulence pretty well, but there's been a few times crossing the Rockies that I've had to stop looking at whatever I was watching or reading, just shut my eyes, let the vent blow on me, and pray I didn't hurl.

Umm, was meant to illustrate the 2 hour non-stop turbulence, which is not a good situation for someone terrified of flying. She couldn't care less about a drink, just getting on the ground.

-I care about drinks though, and my 4 day mini-home vacation begins now. [cheers]

Nice little top 10 matchup tonight with OU/Nova.

Gus Johnson & Bill Raftery on the call.

Does it get better than that?

My Buddy Hield is my favorite player in CBB #NoUK. :fire:

Lon Kruger is coming up on 35 years in coaching with one cup of coffee in the NBA and I still don't think he's gotten proper credit as a coach. And not in that "so underrated he's now overrated" way. He's just perennially underrated.

The jobs he's taken on - Illinois the exception - were all dead in the water when he got there, and he had them all winning in 3-4 years. And K-State, Florida, UNLV and post-probation Oklahoma are all tough basketball gigs.

The KU/OU games this season are going to be phenomenal.

Lon Kruger is the most under appreciated coach in CBB. He's been good-to-great everywhere he's been mostly.

OU:

3rd in FG% D
2nd in 3pt% D
4th in Rebounding

...that's a recipe for success, especially when you add in the best offensive guard in the country in Hield, and Cousins/Woodard to go along with, vets. Nobody mentions OU in the 'best backcourts' convo, but I"m not sure there is one better, right now at least.

They are a bit of a jumpshooting team, but when they're on, they look unbeatable. Like Duke, only they play D & Rebound. Need to get Spangler involved a bit more imo.

Villanova is good, this is impressive.

Kruger is dope. Not sure it's an upgrade for him at this point, but IU wouldn't be wrong to put him on their list. Probably a bit old for what they want, but he builds programs with MUCH less than what they have to offer.

Lon Kruger - best coach that is always under appreciated by the masses. Does a great job but doesn't get the recognition. Really knows how to win but rarely gets the props he deserves. Great coach - little thanks. No one talks about him but you know the sport is better because he is a part of it. If he left we'd all say "lon Kruger, best Lon in the biz" The b rax of college hoops

That UCLA loss has reminded me a lot of the December '93 loss to Indiana in terms of feel. UK's #1 in the polls, but not really the best team in the country. Go on the road against a good, not great historical blue blood (well, Indy not Bloomington) and are pretty much handled from the tip.

Good grief. Why does every loss, every player etc have to be compared to some other loss or player.
You know what it reminds me of, the 2015 loss to UCLA. That's it, that's the list.

Agreed. Was listening to KSr this morning when they announced the reds traded Chapman. Pretty much the only reason I still watched the reds last year was him.
UK football and the reds can get pumped. Oh, and also BBDK.

Yeah, he did ole Freddie Mercury proud. He, Stevie Wonder, and Whitney are singers people shouldn't even try most of the time. He killed it.

The Warriors didn't play tonight, but I still went and looked at Steph Curry's numbers anyway because there is no reaction other than laughter at a dude in the best league in the world shooting 47-percent from three on ELEVEN attempts per game. [laughing]

When's the last time the best player in the league was a guy who didn't even dunk in transition?

The worst of them all.

THANK YOU, MARK ZUCKERBERG, for your forward-thinking generosity! And congrats on becoming a dad!
Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he is giving away $45 billion of Facebook stock. What you may not have heard is that he plans to give 10% of it away to people like YOU and ME! All you have to do is copy and paste this message into a post IMMEDIATELY. At midnight PST, Facebook will search through the day's posts and award 1000 people with $4.5 million EACH as a way of saying thank you for making Facebook such a powerful vehicle for connection and philanthropy. This is great. TY

Because who is buying season tickets next year? Stoops is losing the fans quickly.

It reminds me of the end of the Tubby years when at the end of the season Tubby would claim everything was great and he would see everyone next fall. If Tubby had come out pissed off and fired some assistants and told everyone that he was as tired of that horseshit as everyone else and made some real changes, it would have gone a long way toward keeping the fans on his side.

UK really needs to give people a reason to invest in the football program when there are ever increasing reasons to simply not go or care.

I think this fall is going to be the perfect storm for people just quitting on going to Kentucky football games.

1. They're incredibly frustrated with the product;

2. They're incredibly frustrated with the athletic department over being moved from lifetime or longtime seats and parking spots or losing parking passes;

3. The SEC Network now guarantees that every Kentucky football game is shown live all over Kentucky and it's included in the lower end cable/satellite packages that most people were already subscribed to. I think this is a very underrated, under-reported factor that will play a significant role in attendance;

4. The cost. A group of four tickets and a parking pass are much more expensive than they were back in 2005 when Rich Brooks was struggling;

5. The schedule. Southern Miss very well could win the first game and put a pin in the whole thing. Even if that's not the case, Louisville, Bama, Tennessee, and Florida are all road games. That means not only are those four games much less winnable, but it takes two major rivals and two national draws off the marquee at Commonwealth. You get more asses in seats for those games than Vandy, South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi State.

It has to be hard to fund raise for football. This program has a way of not only letting you down, but infuriating you in the process.

Asking fans to do anything at all right now is like your abusive alcoholic father coming home in the middle of the night, berating you for **** that pales in comparison to what he routinely does, and then asking you for money to buy "just a little pint of whiskey you ungrateful little *****".

There is a convenience/cost factor at play here. If you are Billy Joe Wildcat in Somerset with two young kids, let's face it: it is a pain in the *** to load up the minivan and head to Commonwealth for an entire Saturday.

It is much easier to turn the game on the big screen and not leave the house.

But, for me, there is also something about the atmosphere at the games that seems missing of late.

I don't know why, exactly, but it isn't as fun. Maybe it has more of a corporate, NFL-like feel.

I have watched some awful, awful football at Commonwealth over the years, but normally it was at least fun.

I was given Louisville tickets and a parking pass and the entire exercise felt like a chore from start to finish.

I can't put my finger on exactly why, but it was.

Family had season tickets starting in 1990--took us 14 seasons to score a blue lot pass were about two dozen of family friends tailgated together.

We all were then moved to different locations (red, then orange).

Two years ago they sent us to the purple which was on the other side of the stadium away from friends and we let the tix go.

The small things the UK Athletic Department does goes a long way in pissing off the loyal fans.

A lot easier now to go out on my deck and watch the games. Grab a beer from the fridge 10 feet away and take a piss off the side (while pissing off the wife).

Life just sucks when UK football is terrible. I guess we all just have to look back fondly on those days when UK football was good back in the '50s or those two years we were cheating our asses off in the '70s.
I think you are missing the point. There are a lot of people in GYERO (a group maniacally obsessed with UK sports) who are openly talking about giving up on UK football support until the team shows some results.

And not just in a sarcastic manner, either, so far as I can tell. That's a dangerous place for the athletics program to be with its cash cow.

Lets be honest, Chad goes to one game a year. He doesn't care about the fans actually going to the games.
