You could afford a defensive ace/little things guy like Briscoe IF you were getting offense from Ulis/Murray and someone/anyone inside, but yeah, without that he makes things much worse.

Agree. Every team except for Duke has sagged way off us and clogged the middle.

Teams accomplish 3 things:

* They dare us to beat us from the outside saying we know you can't shoot worth a crap. We had plenty of open looks from the outside against OSU in the first half. We shot 16% from 3. That's abysmal.

* Playing the drive defends against our lone strength. Clog the lanes. Collapse and if the driver kicks it out so be it we'll take our chances because you can't shoot it well enough to hit that open shot.

* Make a team with no post presence even worse in the middle. Go back and look at the tape against OSU. Every time Skal touched the ball he had 3 & sometimes 4 defenders surrounding him. Teams are now getting strips against him.

Our post presence is equally as bad as our shooting but if we can somehow hit some fng shots from the outside then we can play the way Cal wants us to with more open driving lanes with some lobs and dunks. This is what happened in the 2nd half against ASU.

Well, just like that, Murray's looks like a damn stud statistically:

17.1p, 4.4r, 2.9a, 39% 3pt

Yep, one more hot game and he's over a 40% shooter, which is about what I was hoping for.

Still doesn't seem right or fair though. That all came in one losing half, so I'm far from done giving him ****.

...and aside from that, about half of his MADE 3s, and 50% of his points in other games have been ******** or meaningless as well.

He's on the right track though...he & Ulis are the only people I'm confident will be who we thought they were in time.

Completely agree, but his stats look great. That's Brandon Knight-level.

If he keeps it up, then all will be well with Jamal & I. Gonna take a lot more than one super human half.

Knight was far from perfect (despite stats) early on as well.

You can just see it with Murray. It's in there. We've see glimpses. Too intelligent not to.

-Briscoe is falling in my -> You must have 3 people able to score/create on the floor at all times. I think he gets a pass because he plays hard and doesn't miss layups. HOWEVER, if you're going to drive like that you gotta make FTs.

-Willis gets that ankle fixed he could be the Jodie Meeks/Josh Harrellson out of nowhere UL Killer. He's due.

-If only we had quality bigs like one of the best professional teams in history. That would fix things, no doubt.

Will never understand how a city kid who's played basketball ALL DAY, EVERY DAY (when not in school) since he was 5 years old cannot shoot free throws...and even 3s for that matter.

...and one who's game is designed around driving and getting fouled, even worse.

At least Rondo had the excuse of having hands like Shaq.

Love Briscoe, but still blows my mind that Briscoe was a 79% shooter from the line in high school and can be at 37% this many games in.

Anyone have any Christmas Ale's they enjoy outside of the Great Lakes. I've had a hard time finding it in this part of the state this winter for whatever reason. I hear good things about West 6's.

^ I don't believe that for a second.

I actually went looking for his HS stats a few weeks ago, was only able to find Jr year. (72%, which seems more reasonable although not sure I believe that either).

-I thought West 6 Christmas Ale was good.

That Butler, Xavier, Northern Iowa, Monmouth Final Four this year is gonna be awesome.

Nope.

The Final Four's gonna be Louisville, North Carolina, Duke and Indiana.

The Cards win the title when HOFCRP gets his revenge on Coach K by drawing up a perfectly diagrammed full-court pass that results in MEGA-Q getting a layup at the buzzer. Media members carry Rick off the court while a teary-eyed Katina Powell holds a press conference to admit she made the whole thing up & then produces a canceled check written by World Wide Wes to Anthony Davis for $200,000 and "GO BIG BLUE!" on the memo line. The 2012 banner comes down & newly-minted NCAA President Pat Forde announces that all of John Calipari's 200+ wins at UK are being vacated and every Kentucky fan on the planet must publicly pledge allegiance to Tom Jurich.

Book it.

Bell's and Southern Tier are my favorites, just above Great Lakes. MadTree's ThunderSnow is really good, too.

Good to see the craft beer "trend" is still going strong. Should be going away any day now.

Chad's such a pretentious little dbag.

Exactly, and I guarantee you were telling everyone that it's the champagne of beers in order to justify it, b/c that's the type of person you are.

MILLER LITE IS MY HOLIDAY ALE!!

70 degree Christmas can get pumped. :100points:

Maybe you all can bust out the badminton net instead of the typical board games.

What a bunch of weirdos.

Wouldn't mind it to be Cold through the New Year, maybe even a few flurries, i'm a festive guy. Then I am absolutely fine with Summer weather/drinks the rest of the year.

miller lite is still my favorite. it's yummy, and you can drink like 37 of them.

there was an article in our paper the other day about 4 or 5 different local micro brew pubs, and how every one of them is just crushing it. very cool. definitely a unique addition to the personality of a given city. i have all kinds of beer nerd friends who gush over a bunch of kentucky brews, and i see kentucky beers on tap all over the place.

tyler ulis sucks.

The mountains of eastern Kentucky have produced hundreds of deadeye shooters over the years. This despite the fact that if you miss a jumper while playing outside, there's a good chance the ball will roll down a hill and into a poisonous slurry. So NYC needs to buck the f*** up imo.

F***ing hipsters.

Dan Patrick was responding to people this morning wishing him "Merry Christmas" with "Happy Everything!" Guess its not a huge deal but enough to just bug me. Been wishing everyone Merry Christmas every since I heard it.

All the local hacks are just lying in wait for us to lose on Saturday. Even Sullivan could not even wait for it. They just want it so bad. That ***** scandal shut them up briefly but they want their "take that" moment.

Really enjoyed the win in Rupp 2 years ago when every single one of them had their column pre written only to have to trash their written work right after the horn sounded.

If UL would've won that game it was going to be the absolute de facto moment that the Pitino way was not only the right way but it had now proven to be the winning way.

You could sense the frustration in Bozich's column.

Sort of feel like all of Cal's detractors were given their lifetime achievement awards at last year's Final Four.
