I'd recommend anyone that hasn't already to read that SI piece. He's clearly not getting, or not listening to, good advice on how to handle this situation.

For example- Davis mentions the fact that everyone is asking where McGee got the money to pay for these hooker parties. Instead of a simple "I don't know", Pitino tries to turn it into "I know, right, the guy was so cheap lol, that's what makes this whole thing unbelievable!"

Problem there is a) it's admitted by both sides that these parties happened, b) Katrina Powell has a millennia of history supporting the allegation that hookers don't work for free (maybe Jazzy but that's it) and c) using "McGee never paid for anything himself! Like ales at a tavern, certainly not questionable wenches!" isn't so much exonerating as it is implicating that "OK, so the money DID come from another source, but who?" and HOFCRP* is the one (inadvertently) pushing that narrative back out there.

I don't know the particular "rules" of an NCAA investigation, but the fact Smrt and Jurich are keeping him completely in the dark, show up on a Thursday to tell him about the post season ban announced 24 hours later, their ignoring his pleas to take some time to think it over, etc. tells me they found something connecting him to it and this is the start of the walling off process.

-Tony Bennett, Lol. According to my sources it's Brad Stevens, Shaka Smart or Billy Donovan in that order. If it gets bad Gregg Marshall is the 4th choice then Buzz, Cronin, Prohm.

Yup. Also, who could blame them for keeping him in the dark considering he has handled this about as poorly as possible? "STFU" is the number one rule for damage control and he refuses to abide by it. "If I talk enough, this will all turn out OK for me" has never worked in the history of ever in the absence of a carefully controlled message and campaign - which clearly ain't happening here.

My prestigious institution of higher learning decided since his brother was a popular coach they would hire him as HC. He was terrible and has seemingly stuck around this city for some reason.

Weekend randoms...

- Fraternity party on Friday night, risky business themed. Really appreciated some of the ladies' costume effort, wearing just panties with their button down shirts instead of the standard boxers look. Really good stuff.

I'm getting a little old for our parties, although it is a great way to pregame for the bars. Have a few Natty Lights, cup or two of hooch, then head out to the Other Bar. Profit.

- My brother and one of his buddies, somewhat jokingly, decided to become San Jose Sharks fans last year. Us three and Barry decided to use this as an excuse to head to Nashville on Saturday to watch them take on the Predators. Checked in our hotel (right across the street from Tin Roof and a strip club) around 4, then walked to the Broadway Tin Roof to watch the Cats. Had a ton of beers, burned some heaters, and watched the beatdown. Stayed at Tin Roof for a while longer, then scalped some tickets and headed to the hockey game.

It was my first NHL game, had some pretty good seats. The beers were still flowing, and all was well. Looked like it was going to be a great night full of cheap domestics, Turkish Royals, and strippers... until some food poisoning caught up with me in the second period.

Managed to not vomit during the game, but right when we stepped outside and started to bang a heater, I had to throw up in a trashcan on Main St. Was perfectly executed, and only one other dude saw me do it. Eventually made it back to the hotel room, where I rotated between the toilet and laying on the floor with the bubblegut every 10-15 minutes. Was possibly the worst I've ever felt in my life. No strippers for me.

- Left Nashville and got back to Lexington for the Super Bowl. Just ended up watching the game at my house, still nursing my stomach. Felt good for Manning to get another Super Bowl, even though he did absolutely nothing all game. Miller and Ware are incredible.

-Feeling a little bit better today, hoping to get back to feeling normal by tomorrow.

Its UKs fault that real life human beings are disgusted with the exploitation of high school kids via Floyd Street hookers by your athletic program. Preach on Bob.

Nice to get some fresh blood in here to break up the old Gyerohenpeck.

But yeah, don't be complaining about college girl panty parties.

"UL should be able to pay their way out of this! Money will fix it!" is one of the more cynical things you'll ever hear.
This coming from the school that regularly touts itself as THE MOST PROFITABLE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IN THE COUNTRY while at the same time living off the taxpayer's teat in the Yum! Center, so not surprising really.

-If Jones wanted to host Powell on the show without any chance of harassment from UL fans, he should just broadcast from a public library.

-Spent last week in Atlanta. College Football HOF.....superb. Could spend three hours in that place easily. Shake Shack....superb. Could spend three hours in that place easily as well.

-While away on my trip, my daughter woke up one morning and headed downstairs to fix herself breakfast before school. The back door was wide open. Screamed and ran upstairs to tell wife. They locked themselves in the bedroom and called some guys from the neighborhood to check it out. Guys were there in 90 seconds and swept the place. Nothing missing, nothing out of place. Guess the door(which was locked) just didn't latch when it was closed. Still, when she called me frantic during the sweep, that was about as helpless as I've ever felt. Probably the worst thing about work travel, the possibility of something like that happening.

-Coldplay is a solid band. Just a bad fit.

-The HS rec team I'm coaching is a solid 2-4 at the moment. Had gotten word that one of my kids had run his mouth at an opponent during the school week and there was gonna be a throwdown during the game. Pretty much nipped that in the bud before the game, but they jawed a bit, and the other kid did a "Harrellson off Sullinger" move with about three minutes left, right off my player's junk. Had no choice to pull him, since he was steamed and likely to retaliate, and since he was down to one testicle.

Still, we rallied from a 17-point deficit to get that W. Breaking them down and building them up ATKOT, IMO.

The sooner Rick Pitino leaves Kentucky, the better off our glorious Commonwealth will be. He has looked down upon the people of Kentucky from day 1. In his mind, he is the smartest, most important human this state has ever had the pleasure of allowing inside its borders and everyone is beneath him. I understand it is not uncommon for someone as ego-maniacal as HOFCRP to behave this way. But he has always had this aura about him when dealing with folks from here. He's doing us all a favor by allowing us to share oxygen with him. Well, it's time for him to get out of here and leave us all alone. It's time for him to go rub elbows and other body parts with like-minded people. Get your hind-end up to the Jersey Shore, Rick. They've left the light on for ya'.

It's rare when a gif/meme can be so overexposed that it's funny because it's overexposed. It's like the Michael Jordan thing cannot stop, it just keeps going. This thing may never end, despite the calls for it to end.
