Pitino is laying the wood to the self proclaimed best coach in the world.

Pitino in NY, especially St John’s is just poetic to me. All the olds are flat out loving it, and I don’t know what Bill Murray has to do with St John’s but it’s awesome to see him in the crowd.

Pitino is the best coach of our generation. He just wins, baby.

*Do any of you have a legitimate contact for donating shoes for people affected by the flooding?

They are mostly Heely's without the wheels (legal reasons). They all have plugs in them to prevent moisture/debris from getting inside.

I have over 1K pairs that are slightly scuffed and cannot be sold as new. Our customer wants us to destroy or donate, and I'd rather donate.

TIA.

Samaritan's Feet is probably the best around. You would probably have to call them to discuss this kind of volume.

-Would really like to see this team at full strength at least a few more games. They've been such a joy in the program's current transition.

-We played fine. Top 4 Bama at home after a couple lack luster performances. Without 2 of our top 3 players. No shame there at all. Young guys getting some great reps.

-Big Time Rec BB season came to end right as baseball is firing up. First year of Wee Ball for little man. Finally able to get outside and do some work yesterday afternoon. Just need Rax to nut up and join the dynasty. We have several GYERO(or GYERO Adjacent) on the team.

-We have more than 1000 pair of shoes piled up by our back door. 😬LMK where you donate, I'll send all of ours.

-For my fellow neurodivergent friends, these ONO rollers are pretty nice. Same for these Mobii fidgets.

-The Magnus Carlsen JRE was him at his best. No political talk. Just a really interesting interview about something I had no prior knowledge about, Chess. Highly recommend.

Honestly surprised that you never took it up.

If you want to learn/start; chess.com is invaluable. For a modest membership fee you get lessons, puzzles, etc. You can play bots online. The bots start at beginner level and as you advance, you can play more difficult ones. You can also play live games with other folks.

If nothing else, it's a great thing to teach your children.

If you want to learn about an intriguing chess player from the past, look up Paul Morphy on youtube. Fascinating guy, and one of the most elegant strategists the game has ever seen. He revolutionized chess, and honestly, he had zero competition; that's how advanced he was compared to players of his era. There wasn't chess theory then, as it exists today. If he lived today, and had access to "solved" databases and chess engines he'd probably be the GOAT.

My doggie just plunked down on the back deck to sunbathe….finally, warming up. What a gal!

Just dropped some coin on Snake River Farms box ‘o beef. They are not just giving away the beef🫤.

Yankees caved to allow beards. Eff that ****. Hal should’ve leaned into the restriction. George is rolling over. What’s next? Cotton uniforms?

I think the team did well considering the circumstances but just ran out of steam at the end of both halves. However, the combination of 'studio dork' saying "It's impressive Alabama is doing this with Grant Nelson on the bench in foul trouble" and that assclown in the sport coat and New Blood Tee Shirt they kept showing, had me seething with anger most of the second half.

Super serial post, sorry:

So in the span of a couple years, three of my husband’s and my friends dropped dead of widowmaker heart attacks in their 30s and 40s. In November I had a brush with death giving birth to our son, whose middle name comes from one of those friends.

Today my husband had a heart attack due to a 100% blockage in the widowmaker artery. He got to UC and they saved his life because he didn’t screw around when he started feeling off. Not out of the woods yet but they cleared the blockage. The surgeon gave me printouts of the imaging during the cath showing the blockage and…Jesus Christ. Horror show. By the grace of God he’s still here.

Since this thread is mostly dudes…please, please don’t wait if you have cardiac symptoms.

-Butler and Jaxson practiced a bit today which is encouraging.

-Pope answered some good questions tonight like why don’t the best players play more minutes. To that he said it’s partly due to how much constant movement his offense demands ( where have you heard that before?)

-He said most offensive systems have breaks in them but not his.

-The other part is if players play too many minutes (like Amari) he sees a dip in their energy and efficiency. I’m sure he’s got insane amounts of data that back up that trend.

-It makes sense to me and will probably be how he handles minutes unless he switches up his offense (which no one wants).

-What’s baffling to me is that Matt Jones can’t seem to wrap his head around it.

Don't be sorry, this is an important message and I'm glad you posted. I'm so happy for you that your husband made it and hope he continues to improve.

I've been dealing with some weird health issues that I am worried could be heart related and scheduled an appointment last week.

So sorry to hear this and hoping for a full recovery.

If somebody has a heart attack in their 30s or 40s, that's often a sign that there's a significant genetic component involved. Lipoprotein (a), also known as Lp(a), is a marker that isn't checked in routine cholesterol screenings but is often highly elevated in these persons.

It's strongly determined by genetics, not lifestyle.

So for anybody having a heart attack at such a relatively young age, any siblings should also get tests done, lncluding the blood test for Lp(a). Children should also be checked once they grow up and reach that same age range.

A friend of mine started feeling bad about 4 miles out from the parking lot on the Siltstone trail here in Jefferson County in 2019.

Ended up going to the hospital that night and had a 90% LAD blockage. Got stented and four days later we were in my truck heading toward a Montana trip.

I’ve been to the emergency room twice thinking I was having a heart attack and it ended up being reflux each time. But I don’t fool around with chest pain.

Sheesh. Glad he didn’t waste time, Pretzel. Hoping for a quick and full recovery.

Regarding Amari, the point is that even with a dip in efficiency, he’s the most important available player right now. Dipped Amari >>>> full strength Garrison. But it’s really not even an apples to apples comparison because running our offense through Amari is the best thing we have going right now. It’s not that Garrison is worse at it, he doesn’t even do it. Entire team and game changes with Amari on the bench. Not asking for a marathon, just 5 more minutes of play over a 2hr time period.

Pope rules, obviously. This is probably the only thing I’ve complained about in the last 9 months, in-game red *** aside.

I was going to post last night about a rock bottom moment I had after dinner. I was throwing away some scraps and noticed a cookie in the trash my wife had thrown away because my kids had eaten too many earlier. I don’t know why but it was like some primal instinct kicked in and I just grabbed it and ate it. It wasn’t even a good cookie - it was one of those ****** ones you buy from Kroger that come a dozen in a clear plastic box. One of those plain sugar cookies with hard pink frosting that doesn’t even taste that good. I shoved it in my mouth with my heart racing as I didn’t want my wife catching me eat it like a starved homeless person. It just seemed wildly inappropriate to post that with all the heart attack posts last night.

-I get the Garrison point and I would've liked it if we could have worked it out to where Carr played some minutes at the 5 but it is what it is right now with how banged up we are. We have to play him as much as we're playing him right now since we have no other options.

-Amari has never averaged more than 27 mpg and isn't as effective when he doesn't get his regular rest and there's no doubt he's got data that backs this up. He's asked to do so much offensively I don't think you'll see any change with his minutes. His team minutes leader routinely averages about 29 minutes a game with his bigs averaging about 24.

-Pope said last night that we had stretches where the 2nd ten minutes of the first half where we weren't playing well and it was because he was playing the starters too long in their 2nd run. The offense is taxing so you're going to see the minute distribution and the number of players the way it is as long as he's running zoom.

What is so taxing about this offense? I’ve watched every game and I don’t see anything more with ours vs say an Auburn, Alabama or Mizzou.

Couple that thought with the idea Amari is bringing the ball up(he is going to come up the court anyway so no extra effort) and he stops around the elbow/3 pt line for handoffs and isn’t being asked to battle in the post every play.

I will say he has a tendency to start getting loose with the ball and early in the season he’d start playing goofy at times, but I haven’t seen any of that goofiness in a long time.

Paradise - new show on Hulu, started watching last night. About a Secret Service agent guarding the President. First episode is called "Wildcat is down".

Turns out the fictional President (James Marsden) is supposed to be from Kentucky and a huge UK fan. His code name is Wildcat. He talks about the Laettner shot and uses "Laettner'd" as a verb.

I wasn't expecting that, pretty cool shoutouts to the Cats on the national stage.
He and Josh Hopkins are practically best friends. Don’t think Marsden is actually from here, but I know of a group of guys (albeit, at arm’s length) from Lex they both run around with when not busy with their acting careers.

Constant off ball movement for every player and hard cuts with no breaks and no one just standing in a corner resting.

Bringing the ball up and initiating offense definitely is harder than just running up the floor and there aren't many guys his size that do it (if any) and that adds to it.

Bama's bigs average 26 and 19 mpg, Auburn's 29 and 20, Mizzou's 27 and 17.
