Charles Wesley Godwin has been on very heavy rotation.
Nikki Lane
Charley Crockett
Tanner Usrey
Lake Street Dive
Jesse Wells
Larkin Poe
Dawes album from last fall still comes up often too.

He asked for good music. Then again, he likes Childers, so lack of taste must be a factor.

eek.

Just had my first pour over coffee this morning, it was the “CM Red Fruits”, the 2023 Golden Bean winner. It was served with sparkling water and I had to look up how to drink it. Was very good, I’m a fan. Slowly developing my coffee tastes.

If Diet Coke, Diet Dr Pepper, and Whole milk are 3 of my 5 favorite drinks (with no water) please push me off a cliff 😂. Then mentions a ****** TN whiskey JFC

Chocolate milk was mentioned too, presumably with a Happy Meal or while watching cartoons in the morning with a bowl of Fruity Pebbles under the coffee table.

  • I have an office in 30 Rock. They had this Blue Bottle Coffee in there where they did the pour over crap. All the little yuppies and hipsters I work with would tell me how wonderful it was. Tasted like coffee to me.
  • I felt like I've had different kinds of coffee and espresso from all over. It's like pizza to me in that there are thresholds for coffee.
    • Undrinkable - think coffee made on American Airlines
    • Drinkable, but still not great. - Anything in a Keurig, Folgers, etc.
    • Good Every Day Drinking - The great majority of coffee these days from McDs to Starbucks to Blue Bottle.
    • Great - Fresh Cup of Kona in Hawaii while sitting on a beach to high end coffee shops that really know what they are doing in terms of bean selection / roasting.
  • Once you've found a great place, you don't need to scour the globe to find a better cup of coffee. It's solved. It's done. Same for pizza.

You lost bourbon credibility with me when you tried to pimp that Alabama *** water at the Extravaganza.
You weren’t even there, big boy. Nice try tho.

I did bring an Eagle Rare pick that was magnificent. Inhaled by the ‘experts’. Too bad you didn’t try that one.

- I started it and they acted like Coach K was F’ing Norman Dale persevering with Ollie getting minutes.

- Agree on Jack Daniels- zero respect for any Kentuckia drinking that Tennessee piss.

- Best coffee- Venice. I know most here havent been to as many foreign countries as I have but I’d highly recommend getting out and expanding your horizons. #blessed

The redeem team was good, as was court of gold. Court of Gold actually surprised me how good it was. Also, as a Jordan nut hugger, I’ve watched The Last Dance like 3 times.

I was at the damn NC Zoo during the 2016 win because that’s where my 65 year old MIL wanted to spend her birthday (sadly, not joking).
The "sadly not joking" part is that you agreed to go. That's up there with @Johnnie Africa skipping an NCAA tournament game for his wife's business luncheon.

You can say "No." It is not that hard.

* A book recommendation: Fort Bragg Cartel. This book is nuts. In 2020, a recently fired Delta Force operator (William Lavigne) and a Special Forces affiliated warrant officer (Timothy Dumas) were found murdered in a remote part of Fort Bragg -- the home of Delta Force and the Special Forces (Green Berets). According to the book (and it appears pretty credible), Lavigne was using (and probably trafficking) crack and meth as a working member of Delta Force prior to getting fired. He also shot his best friend, a Green Beret no less, in front of both of their daughters in 2018 in North Carolina and the police ruled it a justified homicide -- despite his friend being suspiciously unarmed for an active duty special operator.

The feds have pinned the murders on a 24 year old gangbanger from a town an hour away with no known connection to the two and seemingly zero chance of being able to take down two absolute savages by himself. If he was involved, it would seem like he would be a hired lackey at best.

The author has a clear ax to grind about his own military service and doesn't seem particularly knowledgable about the subject matter. But, somewhat like Bluegrass Conspiracy, the story is so insane the narrator really doesn't matter.

* After a long weekend in hotels with my coffee addicted wife, my current favorite java is the Sam's Member's Mark Classic Roast that is automatically brewed at 6:45 am every morning in our drip machine.

The less fuss the better, imo.

* I love the anti-boomer energy from Pope. He's out here taking Jelavic to a tennis match, saying he wants to meet Obama, Hamilton, etc. We could have had Bruce Pearl's orange *** using twitter to try to run for congress after he retires or any number of other old, bitchy blowhards.

* When did cottage cheese become harder to find than heroin? Sam's Clubs are sold out entirely in Kentucky and my local Kroger (with their dogshit alternatives) is no help either.

Jesus you’ve brought this up like 10 times, I’m not a W2 loser like yourself*, it was a business trip in Chicago for my wife’s business that I help run where we were securing a 6 figure deal and we had to have dinner with the company reps that night. I got to watch the last 10 minutes of our first round game against dipshit state in a cool Chicago bar then partied in Chicago the rest of the weekend wow how lame. Good luck on your cottage cheese run hopefully you can find a bucket to shove up your ***.

*I do not consider a W2 employee to be a loser this is just directly pointed at Hank who’s a big loser

This Is The End - Randoms

- There have been some weird posters get run and try to come back under a new identity, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one go all-in with the homo-erotic poop fetish. Usually a strong sign of childhood sexual abuse trauma. Sure hope not.

- Speaking of "The End," is there a better opening scene in cinema than Apocalypse Now? That song makes that scene.

- Speaking of the end - as in, the end of humanity - what's up with this comet that's somewhere around Saturn right now? My social media algorithm is full of conspiracy theory b.s. and UFO enthusiasts. Many are saying this "comet" is some sort of alien technology heading our way. Are they friendly or will they destroy us? We'll see!

- Speaking of we'll see, L1C4 fans are riding high right now. If Stoops finds a way to steal another one from them this year, it will reach 2016 levels of joy for me. Those sonsabitches need to be knocked down a notch or two. Same goes for basketball. A good, old-fashioned *** whipping would be just what the doctor ordered. For some reason, those fools have decided their athletic department is back being "miles ahead" of UK. Let's see if they're correct. We'll see you soon, lil' bro.

- I'm seeing more and more kids named "Maverick" lately. Surely these dumbass parents know that Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun was Pete Mitchell. Maverick was his call name. That's like naming a kid, "Rooster" or "Merlin." You don't put that down on a government document as an actual name. Come on, people.

- Through the years, I've noticed that you "miscount" beers way differently. In my youth, I'd exaggerate the number of beers we crushed at that party. Man we killed that keg and then went and polished off a Dirty 30!

Now if I have more than six, I'm hiding empty cans in the garbage inside bags of chips or under paper towels. Honey, you were on the patio listening to music for quite a while last night. How many beers did you end up drinking???

Oh, I only had about 4 or 5.

- Speaking of light American domestos, nobody cared to put that in their top 10 drink choices? That's cute. If Richie were still here, he'd be rolling over in his Peter Millar 1/4 zip. So now we're all too good for American domestics we grew up on? Maybe this place is getting back to normal after all.

-The last two girls I dated before my current woman, both got knocked up by their next boyfriend and curiously named their boys Maverick. What are the odds?

-Wayne nailed the coffee take. Find your favorite at your local spot and boom, done. That being said, my lady and I like trying to new coffee joints just for scenery and whatnot, not looking for El Dorado though.

Pour over coffee is silly to me. Doesn’t taste in anyway better unless you want it to so you can tell people it’s what you like. Also takes too long. It’s coffee not art.

- @wildcatadam6 with a great music list. We have the previously mention airbnb for the second to last (I think) weekend in St Augustine to see Lake Street Drive and St. Paul & the Broken Bones at the Amp.

Saw Charley Crockett at Jannus Live last year and he put on a helluva show.

Weirdly, it’s hard moral dilemma to pay for tickets at that venue even though it’s 5 minute bike ride from my house at the moment because the owner was drunk driving a boat with a bunch of people on it, hit a ferry, people died and he drove off to be charged later. He took himself off the board there but still makes money off tickets so idk if I want to support his legal bills…

Anyone that doesn’t at least respect/enjoy some Childers can eat a dick. Appalachian KY boy that made it with a voice for the ages and writes songs of substance and a darn good story teller to boot. Long Violent History is a masterpiece modern day protest song.

Even my KY gf that hates “country” music, as in pop country, has really come around and enjoys him now. Not her type of music at all but after listening she gets it. If he’d ever come close again we’re bound to see him.

-Speaking of live music, she has a theory a lot of bands have quietly boycotted Florida this year. They hit everywhere but here and have been here in the past. She thinks it’s political, very well could be.

-GYERO may be trying to round back into some modicum of form, W2 trash talk is back.

I've seen you at two extravaganzas. The things that stood out were some crappy swill you thought was incredible, and some awesome bolognese with gnocchi you made.

Water has become far and away my favorite thing to drink. There is an optimal amount of ice for the perfect glass of ice water too. Even better if you can let the ice melt about 20% before drinking it.

Fayette County schools is raising your taxes. Sept 5th meeting for “public input”. Memo sent to board members asking their preference for time. 5 of the 7 times listed were 5:00 or before on a Friday. Other times were 5:30 and 6:00 so yeah they are hoping you won’t be there.
Democrat state representatives, Republican state representatives, and local business leaders have publicly come out in past few days telling school system not to raise taxes and they need to get their finances in order.
Only hope is a possible petition to have it recalled is what it sounds like we will be down to in a few weeks.

Maybe you have me confused… I was at two Schemfests. You were at one of the two I attended. The latter one you weren’t there I broke out Dettling. Not ashamed as it’s good stuff.

whatever.

Come by my pad for the Champions Classic 2025 and you can try some decent juice of your choice.
I only drink when I’m social these days and I’d like to have a reason to pop a bunch more.

Back when ESPN was good, there were parents who named their kids Espn. I bet the parents have tattoos on their forearms.

BBQ is reserved for low and slow, cooking on a smoker. Grilling is high heat, open flame or coals.

I raw dog. I like to experience the outdoors, people and places, and that includes hearing. No need to wall myself off from the real world. Phones, computers, desk job, WFH, etc. already wall me off enough.

Pretty simple, wcc. It's about mindfulness. I try to run in beautiful areas - specifically in nature or in the nice parts of a city (e.g., Norton Commons). Going without music and podcasts allows me to pay attention to what is happening right now, both internally (thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations) and externally (sights, sounds, smells).

I ran this summer with my son to get him ready for cross country. First time running without music/distraction in years. While a bit jarring, it was tempered by the fact that my kid was talking to me about something other than video games for an hour.
