Cal got exactly what I have been wanting for a long time. A real wake up call. He watched every second of it too. He thought he could tear BBN down on the way out? We are coming for that self righteous mo fo. We won’t stop until we’re done kicking his *** on the reg either.

F Teague, Cousins, Monk or anybody else who wants to climb this UK chimney. Literally, two of my favorites ever……but f’em!

We are UK. Every single person in GYREO(minus Cole). Not them!

I finally have some real pride again. My buddy ate with Pope last night. Said Pope wanted to reach out about NIL. The guy gets it.

Today was a cleansing of the program and healing for BBN. Let’s F’ing get next season going and kick the **** out of Cal at Rupp, and Fayetteville.
I’ve been lurking since 2004 and post very sporadically. Will not be increasing that frequency either. I literally read this thread everyday and it became my go to source for UK news, even more so than Twitter.

My first memory of UK basketball was going to Memorial Coliseum with my dad in 1975 vs Alabama who had a badass team. Vividly remember my dad being possessed and full of rage at John Wooden announcing his retirement before the championship game that year. There was no way that we were going to win that game.

I loved this past years team but couldn’t get past my apathy for Cal. I feel reborn as a Cat fan and can’t wait to go to Maui with BBN in the near future.

From the bottom of BJW heart, thank you Mark Pope.

All I really wanted was a coach who gave a ****, who tried to win ballgames.

We ended up with a coach who played here, and was captain of a national champion winning team. Unbelievable.

BJW deserves every bit of this.

Watching Reed highlights. Loved this year's team. Loved. That's what makes the disappointment so bitter. Today washed that all away.

Love the open recruitment of Reed. Lay it on the line.

Next year's team needs Adou. Throw the bag at him.

Perry tearing up after his shout-out filled my little second region heart right up. Kid will be a legend, no doubt.

Lost in the sauce Brock Vandagriff going to be a first round pick. LFG.

Apparently my kids are going to be endurance athletes because they never just sit tf down. 😁

That was unreal. My son (he’s 3) at 4:10 out of the blue said he wanted to go after saying all afternoon he wanted to stay home. Sprinted through the house changing us both into blue and white, threw him in the car, parked at my usual spot, and acted clueless so I could cut off 3k people in line and make it in. Some random guy took a picture of me carrying my son and asked me for my number so he could text it to me, because “man this is what it’s all about.” And he’s right. Good thing the picture isn’t too high-res bc in it I’m mid-texting my wife “this is f***ing insane.”

Let’s go. It’s a reclaiming of our program. I fully believe he’s in a group text with his ‘96 teammates because too many of his comments and one-liners were the result of passionate, disgruntled fans who have been pissed off watching our proud program being hijacked and broken down for parts. He has my support and BBN will fully back him to do everything possible to make this a success. My son won’t remember today but I am willing Pope to success so we can fondly look back on some pictures some day bc that’s why we f***ing do this.

Will Pope become our sixth coach to win a national championship? I don’t know. Here’s what I like, though:

* The confidence. From transferring from Washington to Kentucky, leaving med school at Columbia to become a grad assistant at Georgia at age 36, and maybe the most audacious- after playing here and knowing damn well what this is and who we’re targeting, wanting this job and thinking he’s that dude.

* The offense. Watching that BYU offense video had me drooling. The action. The creativity. We don’t just like winning at UK. We like doing it in style. Blame Rupp.

* The enthusiasm. Nothing great has ever been accomplished without enthusiasm. Pope is a positive guy. I think that charisma will do well on the recruiting trail and in the gym. Loved his BYU goal of creating the “best lockerroom in America.”

* The intelligence. He’s a brilliant guy. If he wasn’t head man here, he’d be Medical Staff president somewhere, or a CEO.

I just had a feeling, that it was going to be Pope that would be the correct choice (have the posts to back it up), and after today, I'm more convinced than ever.

Mark Pope is bringing Kentucky BACK.

Back to:

Pride in playing for Kentucky, and not draft status.

Pride in playing to win instead of playing not to lose.

Pride in learning the fundamenals.

Pride in our coach. A coach that is part of this community, and not just a hired recruiting gun.

I've got a lump in my throat, and a tear in my eye....

Buying a Mark Pope bus. As an aside, there needs to be a standardized charging system for all electronic devices. My house is currently a complete mish mash of varied and sundried charger ports and cables none of which combine to seemingly match any device. Including my vibrating cockring, which isn’t getting charged unless the two hour Amazon man comes through.

Imagine being Travis Perry at that deal.

We’ll be fine with Cal in a few years, but it was pretty obvious today that people were done with him and how he did things. It worked for a long time, but the “sell by” date had passed. There was definitely a sense of reclamation and collective catharsis. Describing it as a religious experience is not far off.

I was surrounded by a lot of people at Rupp that I probably don’t have much in common with. But, by God, we’ve got our ******* Cats. And I felt that today in a way I haven’t in years.

I felt like the main character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall during Popes speech. While Pope was talking basketball PHILOSOPHY and talking about pride in playing for Kentucky I kept having flashbacks of Calipari telling me to hold his purse while paparazzi screamed at me to get out of the shot. I mean truly refreshing. I think I repressed just how much of my basketball soul Cal sucked out of me. ****** strategy, ****** culture, ****** speeches, just feeding me **** for the last 7 years. Think Pope is going to absolutely kill it, that speech was incredible. Guy is the total package. Way to not f*ck it up Mitch.

Not sure how it was in-person, but it appeared on the SECN feed that we had 15K+ well-behaved, respectful fans during a fairly lengthy Q&A... cheering when appropriate and not trying to be the show. Passion and pride on display without the BJW stereotypes being featured.

Also, I feel like an unspoken part of "the mission" now includes a victory over a different team in red... just as a big blue exclamation point on the closing of this chapter.
