My process of eating a raspberry or blackberry.
  1. Gingerly eat raspberry / blackberry as to do everything possible to avoid getting seeds stuck in my teeth
  2. Spend the next hour losing my damn mind trying to get seeds out of my teeth
  3. Finally break down and go back to hotel room / drug store to get flosser to remove seeds.
I'm done. I've eaten my last raspberry or blackberry. I'm not doing this any more.

* kybobcat is a serial predator, imho. Just jumps on here on a daily basis and airs it out for all to see.

* I don't understand baseball injuries, especially from position players. Spare me the nonsense about how I never played the game at a high level like certain Lafayette grad posters 50 years ago. Let's just get that out of the way.

calf strains, oblique strains, hamstring strains, neck strain, shoulder inflammation, hip impingement.......

WTF? The game isn't that violent.

* The new Turnpike Troubadours album is what you would refer to as a "no skip" album. Do yourself a favor and listen on repeat, a few times.

* Managed to start my Monday morning without Chick Fil-A, for the first time in ages. There's a new-ish location in very unusual, pretty 'hood-ish spot not too far away that's never busy. Just a diamond in the rough. Often times there's not even a line at all, which is bizarre.

* Dave Portnoy is just so good at this.

link: https://www.yahoo.com/news/philadelphia-police-investigate-antisemitic-incident-032805297.html

Video surfaced of someone at his bar in Philly ordering completely over the top bottle service where the bikini clad girls walk out with air horns and sirens and fireworks and a lightup sign that said.........."F*** THE JEWS."

😂😂

Portnoy uploads a video to the socials ranting about how stupid all those people are, banning them from the club, firing the employees, etc. Then decides to allow them to keep their jobs as long as they go on a company paid trip to Auschwitz. PR is a funny thing, and authenticity reigns supreme, and it's why people like him don't get "canceled."

* Made the mistake of following the local health department on the socials. I swear, every week there's a huge outbreak. 2 weeks ago it was the measles. I mean, we literally have TWO confirmed cases. This week, it's a whooping cough outbreak. Get vaccinated, people. Or you're all going to die.

* I'm a free man for almost two weeks. Lass left on Thursday, and doesn't come home until the 11th. Other than solo parenting our dogs, it's pretty glorious.

Since PTI is on here... what the f happened to Christian Encarnacion-Strand?

I saw this guy a few years ago in Louisville - he was just murdering the ball. He and Elly got called up pretty soon after that, and he had a .800+ OPS as a rookie.

Then last year he was awful in limited action, and he's doing about the same this year?

Does he suck or is something else going on?

CES was great as a rookie in 2023, then got hurt last year. Got hit by a pitch, came back a couple weeks later, played like ***, then found a different hand/wrist injury after a second MRI. Very weird. Missed the whole rest of the season.

Right now he’s out with back inflammation. See previous post for my thoughts on that. WTF?

His “back of the baseball card” is as impressive as you’ll ever see. Just destroyed the ball every year, every level, everywhere. I’m still a huge believer.

I actually think the “you never played the game at a high level” works for a lot of baseball injuries in that a lot of these guys are at such a different level athletically than what we saw in high school.

For example, my ACL is likely every bit as strong as Acuna’s ACL. However, he is putting a lot more torque on it than I ever did, and he’s doing it 162 times per year whereas most of us did it about 40 times per year.

When is the D-day for this place, do we know? Do we even know for sure that this will go away?

When you hit the cage on the regular, and buy 1000 dollar "rolled" bats like I do, you never have to run the bases. You just slow jog around them after admiring the bomb you just hit, in your weekly softball league game.

This is like an every weekend occurrence. it should have it's own YouTube channel.

Miss the Derby recaps of the GYERO of old, debauchery, incontinence, gambling, etc.

Torque + HGH and you have a recipe for disaster with achilles, pectorals, obliques, the list goes on.

No, it’s not. Just in the same way every part of you from muscles and bones are smaller and weaker than a professional athletes, so are your ligaments. I met Greg Oden once, the guys ACL was probably the size of my neck and 5 times as wide as mine, I couldn’t believe how big he was. But your second part is accurate, I think the vast majority are overuse injuries or injuries when fatigued.

False. Size can vary, but the ACL itself does not get "stronger". It is supported by the muscles around the knee.

Is this thing on? Bueller? Bueller?

Perry to Ole Miss just makes no sense unless they gave him a big bag of cash. For a KY boy to leave just to play basically the same role….i don’t know.
More playing time and more $. He’d be our 4th or 5th pg this year and he’ll be their 2nd probably as they are desperate for guards.

I mentioned I liked Potter as a long term big when the portal open. He just committed and has some Luke Kornet type potential and comes from a great family.

According to Google AI:

No, athletes do not generally have bigger ACLs. In fact, studies suggest that individuals who have experienced ACL injuries tend to have smaller ACLs compared to those without prior injuries. While factors like muscle mass and activity level can influence ACL size and strength, the overall size of the ACL does not increase with athletic activity.

Google AI may be right about that, but it is absolutely awful about most things I've looked up. I scroll right past it now.

Well I remembered from some athletic training class in high school that ligaments - unlike muscles and bone size - didn't really differ too much from person to person and the strength / durability of ACLs weren't really proportionate to athletic performance.

I'm still intrigued how Ron was able to assess Oden's ACL size.

Had a blast as always at my 27th Derby. That being said, Churchill Downs needs to rethink some things. Their "face value" prices were more in some instances than what could be found on the secondary market. Also, I'm not sure what the point of paying premium for Clubhouse is if the majority of food options are located outside on the ground level. The Julep glasses used to plentiful, now only available in certain areas. In short, increase in price, decrease in service.

I mean the guy was an absolutely massive giant with a knee cap 5 times wider than mine. In what way does it possibly make sense that everything about someone would be larger but they somehow have small ligaments that are disproportionate to the rest of their body? So an athlete is typically faster, stronger, can jump higher etc because they have bigger muscles and bones and tiny little miniature ligaments and tendons that are the same size as people half their size? Does it blow your mind that someone could make the outlandish claim that a rhinoceros has bigger ligaments than you as well?

NBA playoffs are my favorite sporting event of the year, and I don’t even have a favorite team. Just unreal levels of shot making, defensive strategizing, and athleticism. All-around incredible basketball (aside from the Celtics missing 45 threes). Makes college basketball, which I obviously love unabashedly, look like a different sport tbh.

Also reinforces why the NCAA Tournament, while making for great theater, is the absolute worst way to pick a champion. If this was college, a whole bunch of 1 seeds would’ve been out after the last two days.

And then doubled down by going on a Neo-Nazi podcast.

People on the far left like to throw out the word Nazi for anyone that is conservative anymore, but when you look in the replies there are a concerning amount of actual Neo-Nazis who proudly spout their anti-Semitism, it's crazy.

* To reiterate my post from yesterday, I appreciate Portnoy's swift, decisive actions, and his authenticity. But I haven't followed it enough to know who was really responsible. At minimum, whoever ordered the sign, and whoever carried/made the sign are clearly guilty. No clue where Mo falls into that. I also think it's pretty fraudulent of Temple to inflict such a harsh punishment without more due process.

* Is there an LCL?

🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️

* I really, really dislike Travis Perry leaving for Ole Miss. Here's my name drop story for the day.....

I grew up down the street from Cameron Mills (with a Z). One day he came back home and was hanging with us neighborhood kids at the court across from his house, and he told us a story. I'm sure it was embellished, but he said Coach Pitino told him he was so terrible at defense there was no point in even trying, and instead he should spend 100% of his time working on shooting. Turned out to be great advice.

My point is.......it's okay if a bench player is limited, or only has 1 specific skill. It's not ideal, but I was convinced Perry would spend 4-5 years in Lexington, and eventually develop into a very solid contributor. White boy. Schoolboy legend. We need dudes like that. Big miss for the team, imo.

* Gonna put this sone on repeat and make love to Vern's Mom tonight.

* I was wondering what the Reds would do to blow the game last night, and missing the cutoff man, a delayed relay throw, and allowing Stewie F'ing Fairchild to come around to score from 1st was a good start.

* How did Lowell George not have a follow up to Willin?

* I've never met a Houthi.

* Update: thanks to loose policing, I picked up these J&M kicks off Amazon for $50. They're clearly fake, stolen, or both. But they're available, look good, and fit perfectly. Get 'em while they're hot. Literally.

* WeightWatchers files for bankruptcy. It's a shame that selling out your entire decades long business model to hawk GLP1s isn't a good business decision after all.

* So I guess I have a jeweler now? Dude texts me out of the blue "here's the piece your lass and I were looking at it. Mother's Day sale this week. Should I set it aside for you?"

Pretty sure the answer to this question is always yes, unfortunately.

* What's up with this Karen Read trial? An in-her-prime Nancy Grace would be all freaking over it.
