Popping my GYERO cherry here. Hope I don't regret it. What are the rules in here anyway?

I'm not currently a gamer of any sort. but a Gen X that recalls the days of me and my neighborhood buddies riding our bikes about 5 miles to LaGrange to play Arcade games in the vestibule of the TG&Y Store. I remember my buddy getting an Atari when they came out too, so my favorites list would include:
- Space Invaders
- Asteroids
- Centipede
- Galaga
- Frogger
- Pac Man (and Ms. Pac Man)
- Dig Dug
- Donkey Kong
- Qbert

And I sucked at all of them. Preferred pinball machines. Probably why I don't game now.

Meh, I do not think a possible SEC player of the year will help next years team. Probably be better off giving his minutes for Chandler to develop. Who really needs a 16/5 per game player who is also a stud defender ?? Those guys are dime a dozen. We should have told OO to kick rocks and go pick one off the bench to replace him.

OKC / Indy series will be exciting if nothing else. Points galore. Most o/u will be around 215.

Win or lose the Finals, SHOULD OKC go big game hunting or simply run it back ? I mean they will eventually have to do something with those 86 draft picks. Could you imagine if they added Giannis ? I think if they was to lose (they will not), they will maybe feel pressure to add another stud, but this team is built to win now, later, and into the future. Nice problems to have.

HS baseball season ended for us last night. Made the regional finals. My son was the starting 1B for the entire post season. Got to play on a college field with an FM radio broadcast. Biggest crowd he’s ever played in front of. Being coached by 2 former big leaguers. Wish they would’ve got the W but still a very very cool way to end his freshman season.

Have a 48 hour break until summer ball starts.

Made the fateful decision to order Wingstop at 11pm last night. Spicy Korean BBQ. Around midnight by the time I housed my order. I am almost 40 years old and I am paying dearly for that decision nearly 12 hours later. But this is what baseball season does to me.

The convo on KSR about the wild discrepancies between lexington McDonalds locations is spot on. As everyone here knows, I am huge fan of the Palomar McDonalds. To me it’s the best in every way
- employees
- consistency
-aesthetics of the building

Never had a bad coke from the palomar mcdonalds.

Chipotle is another one that varies wildly from location to location. The new one in palomar is the best in lex imo. Maybe the key is to build everything in palomar ???

The hardest game of all time has to be Battletoads. I rented that sucker one time and was like "Nope." 12 year old me didn't need that level of frustration.

The single hardest thing to do in a game was landing the plane on the carrier in Top Gun. Terrible game even without that.

Top 5 NES games:
Zelda 1
Mario 3
Metroid
Tecmo Super Bowl
Contra

Top 5 SNES games:
A Link to the Past aka Zelda 3
Mario World
Street Fighter II
Actraiser
Mario Kart

Honorable mentions: F-Zero, Punch Out, Ken Griffy Jr Baseball, Super Metroid, Mario 1, Star Fox, NHL 95, NBA Live 95. Dodge Ball, Double Dragon.

Deciding on the best McD's in Lex is trying to determine which is the best used car lot on north New Circle Rd. No one goes into a McD's for the aesthetics. Just check your bag before you leave.

Best arcade games...Gorf, Asteroids, Galaga

Marty Brennaman getting his own bronze statue at GABP is long overdue. I have this album, and it is a treat to have it on youtube....

idk uko at all. I’ve never met the guy. But he really DOES have the most *** opinions on every single topic. I’ve never really agreed with anything this guy has said ever in his life. Nobody chooses a McDonald’s for aesthetics?? Are you insane? It’s maybe the most important factor. Big difference between the McDonald’s that’s attached to a Loves truck stop and one that has a beautiful stone veneer and well maintained plant beds with flowering shrubs. What a dumbass take!!! Jesus Christ on a four wheeler

I think we can all agree with him that checking the bag is a universal truth. Other than that…..eh maybe not so much

I was the perfect age to be all in on the Mario 3 hype when The Wizard came out.

A few basketball Cats thoughts:

Lowe is probably the most important piece due to the lack of true PG depth behind him. Will get 25+. I think his speed and craftiness in Pope's system will be absolutely beautiful.

Aberdeen, Williams, Dioubate, and JQ are all variations of Oweh, just at different positions. I think Pope wanted to be able to have 5 Otegas on the court so he went out and got em:

Aberdeen (1-2)
Oweh (2-3)
Williams (3)
Dioubate (3-4)
JQ (4-5)

Defense and transition will be our calling cards. Half court offense would be the weakness if we didn't have a damn genius behind the clipboard. He'll handle that part.

Said this in another thread. I don't think having too many dudes will be a problem, but it will be a hell of a puzzle. On the season, everyone should average decent enough minutes to keep them happy, but there will be games where guys get below their average and I could see it causing some heartache. Wing guys like Chandler, Williams, Noah and Jelavic may take a back seat on occasion because I don't think you can keep Aberdeen, Oweh, and Dioubate off the court. One answer for this is probably playing with extreme pace. Guys get the most possessions out of their minutes and subsequently get winded, such that the bench isn't such a terrible place to be for a few minutes.

Speaking of great video games, anyone else spent mindless hours playing Grand Theft Auto, not trying to complete missions, but just stealing cars, getting in high speed police chases, running over people, picking up prostitutes, and killing them and anyone else just because it's fun to kill people, or is it just me?

Along with GTA
GoldenEye
Super Mario Bros
Mike Tyson Punchout
Super MarioCart
MLB The Show 2025
College Football 2024

and of course, Golden Tee PGA Edition, arguably the greatest cabinet arcade game of all time.

I didn’t even know “pitching machine baseball” was still a thing, other than for occasional BP and mostly just sending pop flies to outfield for practice catching there.

Just another sign that Norton Commons is totally touching weird.
Pitching machine baseball has been the standard at Lyndon Recreation for the last 30 years for boys and girls ages 8-9. Yeah, you can switch to leagues where the kids pitch, but as someone who has coached various levels for the last 5 years, I really have no interest in watching 9-year old's throw ball after ball after ball out of the strike zone.

My least favorite league for girls is 10-11 kid pitch. Absolutely brutal to watch. I don't recall that being as big of an issue for boys, so my son will play that next year.

I think who plays the most per game will depend on matchups. Pope is a big analytics guy so I can see him basing his lineups on who matches up best with the opposition. Some games may favor certain guys over others.
