How can we make it so miserable for Stoops that he just quits? There's got to be a few Billy Joe Wildcats that Mitch could pay $100K a year to who'd be willing to risk harassment / stalking charges to follow Stoops around and make him so uncomfortable he goes to the negotiating table to resign for a smaller buyout.

I'd say I'm joking, but if you multiply the misery Stoops causes each fan for 4 hours 12 Saturdays a year X our entire fan base, I'd say he'd be getting off easy by being hounded 24-7-365.
Don’t go to the games: I’m not giving that program a dime until he’s gone.

Bring back those portable Shame Shacks.
I feel pity for those that are still giving money to the KFund and buying season tickets for this **** show. Stoops clearly doesn’t give a F and is going to make UK fire him. Hiring his loser buddies and giving raises to them as well when they are under performing. He knows he is overmatched in the SEC and is riding it out.

I appreciate what Vince did here the last decade or whatever but I’ve thought his importance was overblown the last 5 or so. I’d say he was one of worst at hyping the program up and under delivering. Plus the TE room, for all their vaunted recruits, consistently underperformed. Best of luck, Big Dawg.
I agree with you that his coaching ability was severely overrated. Every year we heard how stacked the TE room was, then they consistently under performed only for us to be told it was on the OC for not getting the ball to them more.

We typically play the bad MAC teams. Toledo and their coach have 4 straight bowls and 10 years without a losing season.

They beat MSU 41-17 last year. We’ll probably be favored by less than 10.

The Phantom Menace was a menace to the Star Wars saga. I imagine, after humanity has destroyed itself, that an advanced civilization will discover earth and find a Red Box machine in front of an abandoned McDonalds with a copy of TPM in it. After watching it they will understand why we went extinct.

-Stoops' buyout will be about $37.5 after this season plus about $8-10 million for buyouts of his assistants.

-Without a reduced buyout, it would cost about $80-$100 million to fire him and get a new coach. We need this season to be as bad or worse than last year (the schedule is tougher than last year) so we need the fans checked out for the last two home games and barely anyone there like in Joker's last year and he leaves on his own accord.

-The fewer wins the better from my perspective to get him to leave on his own and terrible attendance for the Florida/Tennessee Tech games.

-Part of why Vince left is that they took away his final decision making powers in recruiting and gave it to Gran.

How in the everloving f*** did we give Stoops that big of a buy out? It's almost criminal what Mitch did and what the board approved.

The scary thing is we could go 0-12 and not be able to get rid of him due to it. We are going to need him to leave on his own.

If we lose to Akron that would hurt attendance with the other home games. I saw the early line was 13 1/2 but it will probably be around 10 when all is said and done and that's a tough opener with this roster.

The Crafts would generally be at the top of the list of boosters they would go to for buyout funds but they are fans of Stoops. We need that sentiment to change but that could be difficult. Joe is close to Vince so hopefully Vince leaving can cause some friction with the Crafts and Stoops.

We need Ferentz to retire so that can be his escape path like Tubby/Minnesota Cal/Arkansas. He's turns 70 this year.

Stoops got that contract (with the buyout) in 2022 the day before losing to Vandy. His contract goes until 2031. His current market value is maybe half of what he's currently making.

He's not going anywhere.

-I'll go to the games this year if it suits me... as I have for 25+ years. Something to do. I'm a UK football fan til I croak.

-I will boo the coach. He's mia. Lost his fastball after his wife left him... too burnt out (this is me being kind) to put in the work.

^I'll always appreciate what he did here through 2021. But like many do he's coasting now/hanging on for a buyout... and if he doesn't leave soon his legacy will be destroyed, it's tarnished but salvageable now.

I still think Mitch's fumbling of not firing with cause after the A&M debacle helped him grow a pair, for just a few short moments, when Cal tried to play us against Ark.

They rescinded back inside after he told Cal to enjoy Fayetteville.
Right, they shouldn't have allowed him to come back especially if we already had been talking to Sumrall.

There might have been some legal issues since he was still under contract with us and didn't sign a contract with A&M that got in the way I'm guessing. Cal wasn't able to come back because they used the fact that he didn't notify us he was interviewing with Arkansas as a potential breach of contract.

UK baseball has had an alarming 14 players enter the portal already (2nd most in the country; behind only Virginia who is going through a coaching change).

They had 11 last year as well which I thought was odd considering that team's success, how much fun that team seemed to have, and you'd think Mingione has a positive environment going on.

I talked to a parent of someone transferring this year and they said the coaches refuse to adapt. They dig in with guys they play early on and don't change or evolve which has run a bunch of players off. They have 40-man rosters, so they've lost 31% of their rosters via the portal so far the past 2 years and the portal just opened on June 2nd so it's still early as far as that goes.

Spoke to another UK player parent that said Ming isn't well respected by his players.

It seems like a lifetime ago when Cal said UK was a basketball school and everyone lost their **** over UK football's success compared to UK basketball's underachieving and started calling UK a football school. Smart fan knew the pendulum would eventually swing back as it has in eternum.

Supposedly the issue was Eddy Gran has the final say on recruits and it pissed off Marrow. Looks like Ole Stoopsie bailed on his friend and hitched his wagon to Gran for recruiting. I am sure there is "more to the story" as they say, but IF Gran has more weight in recruiting than Marrow, I can see the reasoning.

Oh, and CSC81, EAD. Only bitches / thin skinned GAFS put posters on ignore. If you have me on ignore, good, mission accomplished. Myself, I have the ability to skip over post I do not like, or skip idiots who do not know jack **** and ramble on with nonsense. Makes it even worse when you read the blocked posters post, makes you look weak.

-historical lack of funding, using football revenue to fund the entire athletic dept... basketball covered its own cost(rare, tbh).

^mitch changed that after Joker (fan outrage helped). He should've canned stoops with cause after the a&m debacle, we'll pay for that this year.
I can only fathom Joe & Kelly are the main reason that did not happen. Didn’t want to burn his last real booster funding bridge (them being “Stoops people”), ATKOT. I just cannot wrap my head around any other possible explanation.

Catch-22: We wouldn’t be where we are without them; we are where we are because of them.

Basically when Michigan offered marrow the first time, Vince was adamant that he didn’t want to go but wanted stoops to call him begging him to stay.

Stoops was adamant he didn’t want Vince to go but wanted Vince to call him saying he wanted to stay.

Friends forever and boss/employee let pride get in the way over who would call who first.

Took Peevy intervening to get them on the same call.

Amateur hour.

College baseball has an issue given the roster size. 40-man is nuts, especially since players only can be on the team for 5-years (assuming a red-shirt year). MLB has a 26-man roster, but obviously has an extended roster by pulling people up and down from the minors. But while guys who aren't playing in the bigs are getting MiLB experience, that doesn't happen in college.

According to Baseball Reference, UK, in 57 games, had…
  • 16 position players play this year
  • 4 position players played in less than half of UK's games this year
  • 19 players pitch this year
  • 12 of those pitchers pitched fewer than 20 innings
  • 5 of those pitched fewer than 10 innings
  • 8 of the pitchers had more games than innings pitched
Spoke to another UK player parent that said Ming isn't well respected by his players.

This tracks with the analysis. If you have a lot of guys on the roster not getting PT, you're going to have a lot of guys pissed off. Especially if the coach isn't communicating well.

I'd argue college baseball would be much better off if they reduced the roster size down to like 30 players. Or, if that isn't going to change, operate a JV team.

Good grief. Sounds like a middle school couple. How insecure do you have to be to be willing to blow something up because you don’t want to be the first to make acknowledge appreciation.

Baseball is going down to 34 players after the House settlement. They could only offer 11.7 scholarships with the 40 man roster but can offer full rides to all 34 now if they want to
