Listening to Matt last night on the spaces thing and I don't think he's that plugged in on football. He said Joe Craft and Vince were "best friends" and he wouldn't be surprised if Joe sent some NIL money Vince's way at UofL. I think Matt's a smart guy but without knowing any of them that may be one of the dumbest hypotheses on yesterday's news.
Joe Craft would probably be as surprised at the idea of helping UofL sports because his buddy is there as he would be if he wakes up tomorrow with his head sewn to the carpet. I'm sure they'll be cordial but I think a lot of that friendship was based on coaching at UK.

Marrow was good, but Roush laid it out with the 30.6% hit rate. The TE position always insisted upon itself as well under VM.

That's a tough blow, but it's not like we're losing Mike Leach either.

I think the football team is a lot saltier than they're being cast right now. Louisville won a lot of games with an old *** QB who didn't have near the experience Calzada has. Our running backs are legitimately talented, and it appears we have upgraded on the lines.

On the road at Vandy, Auburn, and usc isn't exactly a murderers row. Whatever happens, Stoops isn't leaving $30 million on the table so the best outcome is if he turns this 💩 around.

Ill see your optimism and raise you 3-0 into the bye and lose the next 6. That leaves Vandy tntech and Louisville to get to a miracle 6-6 season....

We didn’t need Vince this year. We need fundraisers. Unless we are in an Frito eating contest we should be exactly the same team. After this disaster of a season Sumrall will bring in enough quality players and get us bowl eligible in 2026.

In 2027, we will be a quality football team. Thanks to the Crafts and Sumrall.

Good at basketball again; don’t care about football.
I care about Kentucky football but I care far more about it being fun than I do us being good.

I went to the Louisville game last year. As putrid as the product on the field was, the game experience was worse. It was frigid and they didn't even have styrofoam cups for hot chocolate. They were just handing you a paper cup of piping hot liquid to hold in your gloved hands over the heads of the nearby kiddos. That's just an example. They appeared to have just opened the gates, rolled out a skeleton crew, and figured no one was going to that debacle anyway.

What exactly is Kentucky football selling right now? I'm legitimately asking.

Per KSR, Vince hasn't even officially informed UK yet and Stoops isn't even on campus. Meanwhile, Marrow's twitter account still shows him as UK coach, but he's still using it as of today. This is likely going to blow up even more, especially since there is literally nothing else going on with college football right now.

Eddie Gran stirring things up?

All the fans have ever really demanded of UK football is play hard, have some pride and don't embarrass us. That's the baseline.

All the fans have ever really asked / strived for is moderate success (i.e., win about 60% of games) and the occasional breakthrough season where we win 9+.

I think we all thought we had reached that level but the past few years, even that seems too high a bar.

UK fans don't even ask for a steak, we ask for a hamburger. And instead we are served a **** sandwich while the administration remains deaf and arrogant, and escalates prices. And serves Hank hot chocolate in a Dixie cup.

JMO, I think he didn't interview or look to leave Tulane this past year because he knows the situation in Lex. Naive to think back channels haven't been broached.

Our only hope is that CMS is gone after this year and JS comes in and invigorates the program like Pope did.

And for the "why would he come" crowd. It's his alma mater and the program he played. Damn near all of us in here would take this job over a blue blood because we went here and love it. (Money being similar). Being an alum is one thing, being an UK alum is another, just hits different when it comes to the love of the school.

Has Sumrall elevated himself above this job?

Maybe UK Athletics can go Chapter 11 and default on paying Stoops.

Reds two games over 500. Gives us enough hope to get through the majority of the summer to get us to the dumpster fire.

Was BU really a better job at that point? They hadn't won more than 3 games the previous 6 yrs.
He GTFO because of the sanctions hitting in 2002.

Imagine: you’re 6 years old. Thanksgiving weekend. The whole family came into town and you had a great time playing with your cousins. Uncle Pete surprised you all with some tickets to the UK/UL football game. Dad takes you out to eat at KSBar before the game. You’re wearing your brand new UK hoodie. He promised to take you to see Santa afterwards. You and the cousins arrive in your seats ready to throw the L’s down. Louisville is about to take the field. Then out of nowhere, Hank Camacho spills an entire cup of boiling hot chocolate on your scalp.

The premise was graveyard of a career. Morriss went on and HEAD coached at another D1 school over KY - per his own volition. In his opinion, Baylor was a better job.

So yeah… Henson/Davis🤡

-historical lack of funding, using football revenue to fund the entire athletic dept... basketball covered its own cost(rare, tbh).
It's much, much deeper than this.

And it starts with the fact that Kentucky HS football has historically been dogshit compared to our neighboring states. We don't have a natural talent pipeline to recruit from. We have to go into other SEC and B1G territories and recruit against titans.

I'm too lazy to go and look year-by-year. But ChatGPT tells me Kentucky has produced 3 Rivals100 recruits since 2010 (Edit: That number seems low to me, but again...not going to check the math).

That’s just off the top of my head. If anything Stoops has seen more high level talent come through KHSAA than any coach before him.

Perhaps the unexpected trip to the ER saved this fan the embarrassment from that game?

Tragedies always have a catharsis that help audiences put things in perspective and learn from the human experience. So . . . when a Dixie cup full of scalding hot chocolate sends you to the burn unit during pregame intros, count your lucky stars you didn’t have to stay for the 4 hour long uninspiring debacle.

As a Stoops apologist I’ve seen enough. I think the season can be better than people think and I think having Gran help more that Marrow was a good thing.

Some times some people are good at what they need to do, in the case coach, but not good at what makes the one at the position successful which is manage.

Good coaches need to be assistants, and if you can handle coaching and managing you should be a Head Coach.

One common thing I can admit throughout Stoops success and down years that is abundantly clear is the management of all of this has been seriously lacking at best with a lot of WTF at worst.

I’m not sure I believe in Sumrall, but I ain’t against it either.

That said best case for everyone is we go 6-6 and Stoops lands an offer elsewhere.
