Jelovic needs most, if not ALL of Dioubate's minutes.

Kam Williams needs a LOT more of whomever he takes minutes from.

Aberdeen and JJ need to embrace facilitating this outstanding ball movement. I mean, good lord... Where in TF has THIS been all f***ing YEAR?

It's like after we d*cked around for the first 10 plus minutes of the game, it's as if these guys magically remembered how to, you know, PLAY F*CKING BASKETBALL AGAIN! What in the hell? :ROFLMAO:  :D:D:D

Did one of you b@stards sacrifice a GD goat in your backyard at around 9:00 PM?

I think that we WILL see this again. I know that MSU isn't the greatest team around, but lately, we've been making teams like that look pretty damn great.

I think something clicked tonight. It seemed palpable to me.

Call me a gullible Pollyanna, but I'm back in. ALL THE WAY.

After starving for some life and enjoyable basketball for more than a month, I thought this place would be lit up.

I think Kam needs Mo’s role and minutes.
Could be the difference in us making the tournament imo.

Moreno getting more confident and comfortable running zoom is great to see not to mention everything else he’s doing.

Eskimo bros Oweh and Aberdeen stepped up tonight. Chandler, BG, AJ and Jasper all
showed signs of life.

If Lowe is out for the year, the medical redshirt rule is if you play 30% or less of the games. He’s close to that threshold now.

Dioubate is an offensive black hole… Kam can drive, pass, finish, and shoot. Not sure why there’s a debate.

Moreno looked more comfortable against a team of stiffs. Mizzou front court manhandled him.

just hitting a few threes changed everything.

I'm no basketball, but isn't Jelovic more suited to the FOUR (Mo's position I had assumed) than Kam? Plus, it seems to me that Jelo plays pretty good defense with awareness. Again, my basketball IQ is pretty "meh"

Hasn't Mizzou's front court manhandled a lot of folks? They're absolutely humongous.

Good win. Tuesday looms as a typical desperate SEC West environment. Probably get Shows and Pat Adams.

Oweh can replicate what we saw tonight. So can a few other guys. Got to take it one game at a time at this point.

He’s pretty rough defensively and doesn’t consistently spread the floor (at least not yet). Don’t let the wide open 3 they essentially dared him to shoot tonight fool you.

Can’t drive either & Kam showed some nice flashes of that as well tonight. Kam’s better defensively but could have a tough time matching up with Florida and Tennessee but matches up great with Arkansas and Vandy and gives us a lot more overall upside.

Jelavic is a better post defender and better rebounder. I would roll with Kam at the 4 and use Jelavic and Mo as his backups and base it on match up.

That might change (Kam at the 4) if Lowe is out for the year then you it’s a tough call with who the 5th starter is. He was +32 tonight.

Good win, Pope and BBN needed it.
Doesn't really mean much because I am not sure Miss St is any good.
Not sure there are any easy games left.

One observation:
During a second half timeout, you could see Diabate and he had a face that looked like he was absolutely miserable to be in the arena.
Curious if the talk of him being a locker room cancer is correct. Gonna pay more attention to that moving forward.

Boom. Kentucky landed another STUD a couple of hours ago. Texas redshirt freshman Linebacker Elijah Bo Barnes. o_O

Out of Dallas (Tex.) Skyline, Barnes was rated a 95 on a scale to 100 by 247Sports, ranked as the nation's No. 3 linebacker and the No. 78 prospect overall. He chose Texas over Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Ohio State, USC

6'1" 244 pounds, ran track in HS, clocking a 10.96 in the 100 o_O:oops:

Four years of eligibility remaining.

Everyone's next coming of Rupp went down in flames again, at home. Tide has beat one team w/ a pulse this year, and continues to show each year that their/Oats style is a crap shoot. Can beat anyone except the best of the best, and can lose when it's unexpected.

We’ve had two exceptional eras and coaches in my lifetime, and that’s Pitino and Cal obviously. I’ve come to the realization that Joe B. and Tubby were probably underrated in that they both had their warts, but they both won titles and they were at the very least ‘sustainers’ of the program. They were probably on the brink of driving the program off the cliff, but both bowed out at just the right time. Both were class acts who weren’t quite what the fans wanted, but again, underrated in the grand scheme of things.

- I haven’t watched a second of this team in about a month. We’ve had high school games going on. Last night our game wrapped early and I listened to that crap start on my way home. Turned it off. #theunlistenables

- The coaches and our wives went out to eat to celebrate a pretty nice weekend for our program. I didn’t sacrifice a goat, but I do think I turned the season around out of spite. Let me explain:

Last season I took my family to a game and my kid bought a commemorative cup fountain Coke. The cup had different pics of Pope all over it. Normally I use these cups to hold 16-22 ounce pours of cold, domestic beer when I grill, watch tv, take a roadie with me to a dinner, etc.

Out of respect for his religion and lifestyle, I decided I would not pour a drop of alcohol into the Pope cup. Last night, however, that was the only cup available to pour a roadie before going out with the coaches. So I broke my vow to Pope. As I poured an ice cold Silver Bullet Tallboy into the Mormon’s collectible, I gave an ironic toast to his current state of the program.

When I showed up at our destination, UK had gone on a huge run and taken the lead before halftime. Then, of course, the 2nd half blowout followed. I still didn’t watch much of the game, but I believe that was the adjustment that needed to happen. You’re welcome BBN.

- See you guys later.

Honestly think the biggest adjustment on offense was that we…. Played hard? Like actually made intentional cuts and set screens and didn’t stand around. Frustrating and probably not going to be consistently repeated, but refreshing to be sure!

Johnson had his best game I thought. Honestly we may as well just play him now and live with the bad decisions. See where he can take us and hopefully convince him to come back at the end of the year.

- Although it’s refreshing seeing Popes players fight thru injury the last two seasons I’m beginning to wonder if there is an injury clause to the money that motivates these kids.

Lowe needs to really consider giving it up this year.

- I know it’s easy to be down on this group and their coach, but I surprisingly feel like the idea of Oweh with the ball in his hands more is best, and JJ when under control like last night is going to be solid contributor so the season isn’t lost yet.

- As far as recruiting goes, I don’t see anyone on our list of recruits that can shoot the damn ball. I also don’t see a reason Collins has to commit to a team with several guys at his position today.

When we couldn’t close on Brayden Mullins I became worried, and it’s clear Pope needs to focus on players that fit his system because he will not veer off of it. Recruiting rankings be damned he needs players to make that system run right.

People were generally dissatisfied with Joe B. during a lot of his tenure. History has looked favorably on him though, and most everyone realizes what a really good job he did, under the unenviable circumstance of having to replace Rupp. Hall could recruit his *** off.

I agree about Lowe probably needing to hang it up for the season.

I was encouraged most of all by how everyone was sharing the ball in the second half. And as a result, it looked like they were finally having fun out there.

I think you misspelled Leonard Hamilton in your recruiting comment.

Joe Beasman Hall was never, at any point, close to driving this program off a cliff.

I’ll never fully heal from 1984 tho, my most beloved Kentucky team of my lifetime.
Yeah, probably too strong a phrase, although he did have his worst season in his last season. That was coming off a Final 4 though.

Hall’s biggest problem were two bad NCAA tourney losses to MTSU and UAB and that Knight was killing it at IU and Crum was killing it at UL. Hall’s overall body of work was pretty darn good in hindsight.
A genuinely great guy who bled blue until he died also.

Biggest issue with his roster is we are full of front runners. We don’t have guys who can break the other team’s momentum on their own. Those players with big balls. We have no issue with confidence against lesser athletes. We have trouble separating or even competing with power conference teams because the second the opposition gets a little run we are looking around for someone to punch them back and we don’t have that guy.

Last year Williams was consistently putting pressure on the defense with his passing and free throw line drives to the rim. Brea and Carr would come up big in close games against top opponents. That takes the pressure off the looters in the riot like Otega.

Our transfers were beneficiaries of playing with those players who could switch the momentum of the game like Sears and Clayton Jr. Made them look more productive vs when they have to initiate their own offense or get others going.

With that said Moreno has been a surprise. He really doesn’t seem to be all that affected by how big the game is. Mentally he appears to be up to the competition, but he’s a big man at the mercy of the backcourt. He just needs to continue working on his skills. He is not afraid.

Jasper has a lot going for him but is not thinking the game of basketball at all. His approach is like any 15yo. Dribble a lot and how can I get to the basket or get a shot off. He doesn’t pass ahead when the opportunity is there. He still thinks a weak, off balance layup attempt is a shot worth taking in high level competition. There will be some improvement with him getting stronger, but that won’t fix the basketball IQ issue.

Not sure if Lowe being the unshakable influence, or JQ’s physical presence and energy, were the factors Pope was counting on to spark this team, but we don’t have it. We have too many players who need someone else to give them their confidence.

I think for the overall body of work both offensively and defensively, Moreno is the best player on the team.

The Big East had 3 of the Final Four that year, which was played in Lexington.

I feel like Captain Obvious posting that, but hell, it's been over 40 years now. /old
Which featured what would be considered maybe the second biggest championship game upset ever, with Villanova over Georgetown. 41 years ago in March. 😦

Gary McClain and Ed Pinckney take down Pat Ewing and the Hoyas.

I was stationed in Monterey, CA at the time, attending Defense Language Institute, and watched that game at the NCO club. I've still got a F4 tee-shirt that my Dad sent me

This dude will be playing for us next year. :) Look at that speed. LOL

Joe B was a good coach but he was a lot like Cal in that he had loads of talent but only won the big one once. Of course if he had let his guards shoot it may have been a different story(old joke for those that know)
